    how do I know when a customer has reached there maximum licensing terms like steams sales etc? I have sold loads of beats in the past but never had a customer purchase the same beat again for a new licence

      same here - just posted similar question. Suspecting at the time that there is no data You can track apart from stalking that user sales/streams - that is if You get their Streaming ID's. Even if You confirm that they breached their agreements - there is no way to enforce Your rights apart from Court... That alone can cost more than return on eventual win. Way i see it think about what type licensing You provide and how many options. There are certain things that are out of our control.

    Thank you. This was a very informative video. I'm a newer artist, and I lease a lot of beats. Recently, I leased a beat with an unlimited, but not exclusive rights. I'm unable to register the song with any PRO, but I'm able to distribute unlimited copies.

    Questions:
    1. Do i need a business Id in order to sell with Airbit? I created an account, I've been producing for 20 years and i think it's time. I just want to link up, post my beats and focus on the business end. I know NADA on the business end. Just Music.
    2. If i lease A beat, and then someone buys it as an exclusive, what does that means for my other clients who leased that beat? Does it interfere with their terms and conditions as far as the contracts are concerned?

    • @WeAreAirbit
      @WeAreAirbit  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, thanks for your questions. You don't need a business ID to use Airbit, however, PayPal and/or Stripe (the payment merchants we support for receiving payment) may request this.
      And if someone has a purchased a non-exclusive license, they can continue to use the beat within the terms of their license, even if you sell the exclusive - they do not interfere with each other.
      I hope this helps, check out this post for more info on the legal/business side of things: bit.ly/3h8EOFa, and feel free to contact us at support@airbit.com with any other questions

    Okay so , I have some really in depth questions I hope someone educated could answer . Now how does leasing and exclusives tie into a creative commons licence and licencing a particular beat to be used for free for non profit . But if someone were to make profit the producer would get royalties ? How do I licence my beats for people to download and if they use it and blow up how do I get a share of royalties ? Even if they didn't buy a lease or exclusive ? So in other terms . Not leasing or selling . But putting up " free type beats " or beats on SoundCloud that get stolen or used for profit use without my permission . How do I licence a beat to be protected to where if someone used it and blew up , made money without buying a lease I would get my share of streaming /performance royalties ? would a creative commons licence cover that ? Or would I have to use BMI ? What's the difference between BMI and creative commons ? And how does distrokid help withj any of this ? Would putting a beat on beatstars or AirBit as free for non profit use and just having the download link on that website , coupled with BMI registration be enough if someone were to let's say Rip my beat off of TH-cam or SoundCloud ? Or would I need to release all of my stuff through distrokid i.e having distrokid release my stuff on all these " streaming platforms"
    ? I.e spotify, TH-cam , SoundCloud ect This shit is confusing . Hell I might not be asking the right questions .

    Question regarding licensing via Airbit: How licensing limitations are enforced? - in another word: what stops people from braking commercial sales limitations on non-exclusive leases? Looks like its just license with no signature they get upon purchase... please correct me if i am wrong.

    • @WeAreAirbit
      @WeAreAirbit  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Once customers agree to your terms and complete their purchase an electronic signature is generated for them in the contract - please check out this post for more info: bit.ly/2wBceDB. As far as stopping them exceeding their limits - you can't really. However, if you become aware that they have you can ask them to purchase a new license, or if they refuse, seek legal action, using the signed contract as proof of terms

    I'm in the process of starting my own beat selling website and wanted to know whats the best way to delivery the license agreement? If the beat is an instant download should the license agreement be attached or would it be sent in a separate email?

    Hi, I have a quick question.
    This is what i keep seeing on producer websites:
    ******
    “Revenue” means income actually received by or credited to Licensee that is derived solely from the exploitation of the Content less mechanical royalties, if any.
    Licensee shall pay Licensor the following percentage of “Revenue” as defined in the Agreement:
    For Revenue received for full Master downloads and for “Streaming” of Masters:
    Eighty Percent (80%)
    ********
    This seems a little unfair and implausible as well. The beat will not be streamed alone, but will rather be streamed as my composition, with my lyrics and melody. Also i'm the one who will fund the recording, marketing, e.t.c
    So i cant really understand what the terms above mean. 80% of what?
    Producers cant really expect to take 80% of my song revenue can they?
    Thank you so much.

    So what if someone leases the beat then another purchases the exclusive license to own it. Do we take off the beat off the site? And the what do we do with the lease holder do we tell them someone else bought the exclusive license.

    • @WeAreAirbit
      @WeAreAirbit  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beats are automatically removed from your store once the Exclusive license is sold. Anyone who has purchased a Non Exclusive license beforehand still has the rights to use the beat within the terms of their contract - Ellis

  • @Exiphr
    @Exiphr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    What happens if exclusively lease a beat to someone and the song goes viral? Am i still sitting here with the $100 or so I leased them the beat for when they could be making $1000 plus?

    • @WeAreAirbit
      @WeAreAirbit  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Exclusive beats are generally sold for a lot more - thousands of dollars in many cases. And there's still royalties and publishing splits which you can earn from. Just make sure that these are written into your contract

    Bro if I leaced mp3 beat can I use for my song and monetize

    • @WeAreAirbit
      @WeAreAirbit  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll be able to use it for your song, though monetization will depend on the producer's terms. You can view the contract before buying by clicking the license agreement link on the checkout page - this will tell you how you can use the beat

    • @WeAreAirbit
      @WeAreAirbit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The best way to protect your beats is with a voicetag, which is essentially an audio watermark. You don't need a license to to upload your beats to TH-cam - licenses are for paying customers to use your beats. Feel free to email us at support@airbit.com if you have any other questions!

    So my beats has to be copy righten to be able to licensing?

    • @WeAreAirbit
      @WeAreAirbit  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You own the copyright to your beats as soon as you create them. Any extra steps you take (e.g. registering them) are not mandatory to lease them online, though some producers do do this

    i still dont really understand how u can monetize a beat thats for use by multiple people. eventually if it gets brought exclusively now thats the even more complex part that i dont understand

    • @WeAreAirbit
      @WeAreAirbit  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      When you sell a beat non-exclusively it is only being leased to the customer. This means you still own the rights and can continue to lease it to others. If someone buys it Exclusively you can no longer sell it, but anyone who has previously bought a non-exclusive license can still use it within the terms of their contract.
