The ogre settlement beside Arkhan also have a landmark that stops all desert attrition. Making her water even more useless, since it's probably the settlement you take after beating Arkhan
I think SFO breaks that or something. I took it (and maxed it out) on my Repanse campaign a while back and I still had the shitty water mechanic. Hell, I had it even boating around the ocean. That really sucked.

Could you do a review on Alberic as well? He's one of the few lords with a crazy position change so he should be interesting to review at the very least.
Doing a very hard Alberic campaign at the moment - it's pretty good, definitely an upgrade from before where I wouldn't even consider playing him. I find that the start needs to be played near to perfect or things go sour very fast. Seems to struggle A LOT vs Lizardmen and Tszeench. So my summary is; challenging, fun, but can be annoying.
@compleatmass819 You can take out Harkon very early, stack cav as auto resolve favours this vs the Vampire Coast massively. Wulfhart can be a powerful ally that will help you defend against attackers from the north and west so definitely make peace with him if you don't want to be overwhelmed
Something I noticed didn't get mentioned was her unique yellow line in the skill tree. The last one gives her entire army Frenzy. Her late game armies are an absolute terror. Multiple hippogryph knights, Questing Knights, and Grail Knights with bonkers stat lines will smash just about anything they could face.
Repanse is in my top three legendary lords in terns of how much I enjoy the campaign. She is also an absolute beast in melee, she will win you battles on her own even against late game armies, plus the buffs she provides her army are pretty insane, surprised you didn't bring that up
I've been playing some Bretonnia campaigns recently and to my surprise the peasant units actually can be very good. I've had battles were my peasant infantry does way more damage than my knights. Also peasant units seem to break less frequently in warhammer 3 than they did in warhammer 2.
Another note is that Anarissa overwhelmingly declares war on you due to lack of fog of war compared to WH2. It's honestly very annoying for it forces u to either go take her out or have a ready force to meet her invading armies.
The issue I ran into and the reason why I eventually abandoned my campaign was getting declared on by Sartosa early on. Endless stacks of undead coming from the north while trying to deal with enemies on the mainland became very annoying. Also is a huge pain to land a force on to take the island.
Questing knights are some of my favorite cavalry to use in the game. They're just built different and especially so with Repanse. Her campaigns tend to be easy but in a fun way.
Water is even more useless now that just in the south of her start position there is an oasis settlement with a special building who gives desert's attrition immunity for all the faction
i love repanse's campain! you can play her without tons of cavalery and i suck at being a bretonian! its actually my only legendary bretonian campain done
I really liked the 3 minute blitz review format, just saying. Great for when I'm after your thoughts but are going through lots of them to find my next campaign.
I have a challenge I'd like to see eventually if it's even possible, I want to see a campaign where instead of killing the "obvious" starting enemy army, try and keep their faction alive for 200-300 turns and see if you can turn them into a real threat by giving them lots of gifts of money and land
You should have covered how sartossa declares war on you in turn 15-20 when is done with the usless tilea faction and will ram throgh your northren provinces while you are bussy dealing with Skarbrand + Wuzzrag + Settra. Very difficult campaign in hard+.
I started on very hard yesterday and Aranessa declared war right after I was done with starting enemies and confederated one of the starting guys. Will she be a problem if not dealt with? Because I kinda didn’t care and just went went on a crusade into bone zone.
@@shmekelfreckles8157 You were a luky one then because she has declared her intentions before you are too busy elsewhere. Deal with her asap, and be ready to deal with Ikit claw too and probably morghur.
@@shmekelfreckles8157 They are a threat but they are bussy also dealing with either manfred, skarbrand or volkmar. What I did is leave an cheap army in the border to defend myself along with a garrison. While the main force sailed to sartossa to take on aranessa, but it can snowball out of control really fast because ikit is friends with sartossa and morghur will hate you too. In any case I preffer enemies comminjg from land (more predictable routes), than an annoying aranessa with ridiculous sea campaign movement that you will be chasing for turns and tuns along your coast just for her do disembark wherever she wants and raid your minor settlements.
Yeah, genuinely don't know how Legend said this is a pretty easy start. I've heard people say Katarin start is difficult but this feels just as bad if not worse. Sartosa is generally at war with you by turn 5. If you don't go for Arkhan immediately, he has generally steamrolled the smaller Brettonia factions and will declare war on you around turn 15 with 3 full stacks. Wuzzrag also declares war on you around turn 15. And that's just the minimum, you'll have issues with other potential greenskin factions, Manfred, Settra, and Khorne.
I really liked Repanse campaign, did steamroll bro aliance with volkmmar and fed him some cities and he turned in absolute bane to all our enemies....:D
In warhammer 2 i always struggle to finish any Repanse campaign. Mainly cause of 1 lord, GRIMGOR. He confederates so quickly that by the time i conquer the desert, he has 40+ settlements. Same with my dwarf campaigns. Generally spend 30 turns chasing Ironhides armies across the map, trying to slow him down.
Playing on Legendary/VH Arkhan is a HUGE problem for me. I start killing starting enemy, getting his both settlements and having 4 settlements at round 4 doesnt help me. My army is 20/20, with 2 catapults, 5 archers, 6 cav and peasants. At round 5 i go to arkhan, in round 6 he attacks me on field (which i raid). Seems like no way to win this fight. His army is just 10x stronger. I have no option to kill his astral units (besides Repanse "spell", still they kill her before 2end use). any hints ?
Does one still suffer attrition while encamped in the desert? Been wanting to play bretonnia but I see how that one dude next to the empire is surrounded by enemies (daemons, goblins, norsca, and vampires).
Ironic how we have the entire Southlands now, yet they aren't much bigger than half of it was in WH2. Lustria feels small as well, while the Empire is overbloated out of proportion again...
Yes, it's factionwide. Also, it's simply a Lord effect instead of her faction, so the other Bret LLs can get the +5 leadership and +5% physical resist for all peasants as soon as they Confederate her.
There is still some kind of a free knights thing although i don't know how it works. I played as the Fay Enchantress, confederated Louen under whom Royal Hippogryph Knights were free of upkeep. Then confederated Repanse who came with free Questing Knights.
The ogre settlement beside Arkhan also have a landmark that stops all desert attrition. Making her water even more useless, since it's probably the settlement you take after beating Arkhan

Repanse's best mechanic is that her Paladin doomstacks are the strongest and cheapest due to her unique technologies.
I love the fact that these are getting longer. Longer videos = more of that 'legendary' wisdom.
Repanse is ridiculously powerful and has been since she was introduced. I’ve never struggled in a Repanse campaign. She’s the best Brettonian lord.
The fact that it's a femoid is a huge drawback, though.
