I think his campaign works best with Black Pyramid end game crisis. You have your short campaign duel with Kairos and then gear up and work your way to the Pyramid for final showdown. Its nice, cool and thematic for Loremaster to smack bird demon of magic and then discover the secrets of Nagash.
To be honest it is kinda sad to see Sarth go from an endgame boss in wh1 and was prominently shown in the Total War: Warhammer reveal cinematic trailer to not only a generic lord, but a "start battle" lord that is designed to loose on the very first turn to new players. I wonder how the Advisor feels about his old boss.
Couldn't agree more. I remember when I first got Sarth to spawn in Warhammer 1, I thought that he was amazing. I always took him as my legendary lord when I played Chaos in multiplayer battles. Sucks to see what they did to him.
If you don't befriend Tiktaq'to, he becomes a major threat in this campaign. But if you do become allied with him, then yeah this is better for a short campaign.
This is EXACTLY what I wanted when I was asking for a first 20 turns guide. I don't necessarily need a 20 turns, just a general direction to head towards early so I don't fall for traps. I think campaign review with a few tips for the early game is perfect. Thank you Legend!

+5 recruit rank for archmages means you can get net of amyntok or fire weapons One way to go is turn one recruit an archmage get upgraded net of amyntok on her then boost archers (ranged first then melee) then loose, darken the skies. Give that archmage ytour army and max out archers Meanwhile Teclis focuses on magic. In a way this means your legendary lord is secondary to a generic lord since you actually want the archmage to level up as fast as possible until darken the skies Technically you can have Teclis learn net of amyntok and take a fire archmage instead for more damage output on your archers but it will require more levels put into magic on a lord meant to maximise army boosts.
There isn't even anything for him in the Victory Conditions Overhaul mod, big disappointment. They overhauled his VCs in TWH2, but not in TWH3, with his (imo) better start position?
I have a soft spot for Teclis. He was my first successful campaign in WH2, making it also one of the most memorable. To kinda celebrate it, one of my first Immortal Empires campaigns was Rakarth, who starts at the same location Teclis started in the Eye of Vortex. It wasn't quite the same, but close enough :P
I think they changed something about Kairos starting position. The moment I followed your advice he immediately beelined for his capitol and was able to reach it before I could. Someone at CA is watching your videos ;) (on version 3.1)
Just had fun with this campaign. Ignored the skaven faction for awhile and just hit and ran Tzeentch until Oxy wiped him up. Then fucked off to the little almost hidden islands below Cathay where Tor Elasor is and conquered them. Sailed into cathay and took out Felheart. Eventually took Kugaths islands while Teclis was fucking around in Lustria. Its just a fun odd little campaign where you can sail around and establish these little provinces completely seperated from each other since its so easy to make allies with Teclis and establish outposts nestled deep in friendly territory.
Telcos is one of the easiest campaign in immortal empire for me. Just follow my steps. 1. Destroy Sarthorael. 2. don’t befriend with yellow frog above you, because Tiktaq’to hates it and will declare war on you. 3. Build Army with 4 spearmen and mass archers. 4. Destroy Skaven above you. Now you will have 2 provinces. No need to worry about Kairos, he still getting gangbanged by Oxyotyl and Nurgle. 5. Now you should have discovered Tiktaq’to and Kroq-Gar. Go Lick their scaly tails. 6. Set sails, land on the rightmost of chaos waste, and start slaughtering demons along the way, until you kiss Oxyotyl. 7. All your provinces in this south land are secured now, therefore it’s time to travel to spread Democracy and fight Dictatorship around the world. You play as Teclis, so be like him in the book.
He always comes sweeping up in my campaigns that start in/near the desert. Always wondered why, since I knew Kairos was down there. Turns out Kairos flips settlements to Teclis, and Teclis AI I guess has to complete a province?
There's been too many times when Kairos used changing of the ways and forced me to retake a settlement and declare war on another faction that i didn't want to.
So you say going for Ever-watcher is short-sighted? 😛 I really enjoy this campaign reviews, gives insights into potential campaigns I might try. Keep them coming, have a nice day 😉
During my Paint the Map High Elf Imrik Camp - I realized not taking down the fateweaver until late game actually posed the greatest challenge during the entire campain ( this is with 4 rank 9 dragon doomstacks). My Current Pain the map as Imrik, from turn 1 onwards was a campaign of mobility to take down the fateweaver ASAP. All Legendary ofc.
His faction bonuses aren't superb but they seem awesome in a multiplayer co-op campaign actually. Good relations with a lot of factions and cheap allied recruitment, gets better with each allied player you have!
I really like these shorter LL ratings. Would you be willing to do a tier list for generic lords? I think you did one back in TW2 I'd be interested in seeing how they and the TW3 lords stacked up against each other.
I recently picked up this campaign and i found a decent strategy was to turn the minor nurgle and slaanesh factions against him by selling his settlements to them, then wiping them out with oxyotl. After that ive found its easiest to sail over to lustria and help tehenhuein/gor rok beat up the Skaven and french.
u gonna make the 20 turn guides again? Those were great imo, would love to see some of the more "difficult" (in wh3) start pos to see what the most optimal strat would be to eliminate annoying factions early and stuff.
I personally like to go for Tor Surpindar first and then take on the army and the leftover settlement. Afterward, Kairos is my next closes goal. This strategy worked for me in a multiplayer session with a friend quite well.
Great video ! Kairos was able to dominate each AI faction with nearly 0 loses, in a recent Teclis campaign I did . I wonder if they buffed his faction in 4.0 Sept 2023 update ?
I’m playing a campaign with a friend of mine who is playing as kyros fateweaver and I’m playing as Teclis makes the start of the campaign very interesting and different for both.
2:45 does that actually matter to the AI tho? I've reduced AI factions to literally nothing but single, rogue armies and they were still able to recruit units. I always assumed the AI just cheats units into existence..
I hope they buff his campaign mechanics to make it a bit more interesting later on. But yeah his short campaign is extremely fun, especially having tiktaq'to declaring war on you makes things a bit more spicy as well
In my settra camping, teclis ganged up with kairos and send doomstack after doomstacks after me. I had to bribe a few factions to declare war at them to get some of the heat off.
It could be fun to change your focus to creating high elf colonies across the world after defeating Kairos. Role play a little bit. I could totally see it being a really easy campaign after beating Kairos though.
What is a fun Legendary Lord to Play? Legend thanks for these reviews they really help with campaign selection. As to who to review next... Allariel or Malekith maybe, feast or famine?
I think it's a total waste to have Teclis' campaign only be interesting for the early goings. And I agree that it is, his start position is TERRIBLE for a longer campaign, not because it's difficult but because it's boring. There's no one else other than the demons to worry about, and in every direction you look, there's very few places to expand to because to the south it's all red territory and to the north it's red desert with only a few jungles to travel to. Your best place to expand to with a significant amount of green territory is all the way over in Lustria which means you need to spend numerous turns ferrying armies over the sea to attack, again, Lizardmen who wouldn't be hostile toward you anyway. It's really lame and the campaign isn't worth playing more than once for this reason. It's completely unpolished once Kyros is dead, offering you nothing you can't get from another High Elf faction except the fact that you get to use Teclis.
When you do one of his quest battles, you discover Caledor and due to high elves' espionage, the rest of the Ulthuan shortly after. You can confederate and have plenty of pleasant climate there. But I think the frozen climate in Naggaroth is unpleasant for him, at least it was in WH2.
@@SereglothIV Yea you discover them via the Sword of Teclis quest, but it takes a LONG time and is very boring to expand via confederation that way, especially if Tyrion conquers Caledor like he usually does, then it becomes even more difficult to confederate up there because Tyrion will have a stronger balance of power over you because your own location has such limited expansion and growth options.
Well, Teclis has somewhat different objectives now, he has the goal of conquer/confederate the elven colonies, which can make for an interesting an diverse game from the Ulthuan elves. But yes, the lack of specific abilities means it gets boring quickly, even if playing with Teclis himself is super-fun, one of my overall favorite LLs
What makes him fun isn't 'i painted the map' campaign like his brother. What makes him fun is sending reinforcement to everywhere in the world, helping against chaos/skaven/greenskin for your allies without worrying to defend your small bordered nation.
In which dlc do I get the arcane Phoenix? I am right now playing a teclis campaign for my first Warhammer 3 campaign :) and his only mount is a horse right now :/ I really like these videos 👍👍👍
i always take the sea lane over to cathay afterwards because after you take out all of that region usaully imrick is still alive and it makes for a little better long game campiegn
I used to love playing as Teclis but I'd rather play as Eltharion or Imrik and just confederate him now. I like his new starting position and enemies but beyond that he's much more fun in other factions. Teclis leading an army of Mistwalkers, or even Arcane Phoenixes, is too much stupidly OP fun. It's good to be king, and it's good to have a doomstack in command of my doomstack.
The reality of the "abandon your starting province and go hunt down Kairos" play is you lose your capital to a rebellion by turn 9, lose your port to the tzeentch faction you left behind shortly after, the settlement you took from Kairos rebels in 1 turn giving you another enemy and Kairos will have a full army of much better troops whereas you'll only have half an army because you can't recruit shit while you're at sea or in the chaos wastes. Kairos will also kill Nurgle before it's physically possible to get to his first settlement. Terrible strategy.
Oh, thank the lord they moved Teclis' start position from that spot where he was right next to Kroq'gar. Must have missed the patch notes on that. That position sucked to high hell, and made both his and Kroq'gar's campaigns absolutely horrible, in my opinion.
I agree with the shorter campaign but not because the lack of mechanics tho that is a valid point. I keep them short because if you want to keep expanding his empire runs only into red and yellow climates once you have cleared the southern half of the badlands. After that you have to go to lustria the islands or ulthuon just for a green climate and that is incredibly annoying to me. I want them to change the climate system so badly because in red or yellow climate it takes 10 turns to build providence building because they already take 3-5 turns now with the new building changes
I get that it might not be an ideal solution because it's not an official part of the game but there are mods that can alter or completely eliminate the climate mechanic.
Careful if you wanna start to expand in the Southern Chaos Wastes. As surprising as it might be, your biggest enemy out there isn't Kairos. It's Oxyotl. As soon as I took down Kairos, he declared war on me. After a war that was going on for too long IMO, damned be those blessed spawns, savage orcs popped in his territory (in the Southern Chaos Wastes. CA, explain. Right now). And despite me dropping a shitload of influence to degrade their relations into pure hatred, to be safe, they attacked me. Luckily I was able to peace out with Oxyotl with a NAP so I could Benny Hill style chase the orcs over my territory. And once I finally dealt with the orcs, Oxyotl declared war on me again, breaking the NAP in the process. I took one more whole province from him and we were able to settle this out, even getting an alliance after some influence shenanigans. I'm 150 turns in and having a fun time, but all this crap slowed my progress by a large amount. I'm getting through the Southland Thunder Dome, preparing to face the Vampire endgame crisis, and also Ulthuan has fallen to Slaneesh, Tyrion still resisting vaillantly while Alarielle has become N'Kari's pawn. It may not be the most interesting High Elf campaign, I may have had a slow start, but the game has thrown too much shit on the table for me to stop it. Between beating the crisis, giving Skarbrand and the Tomb Kings what they deserve, and liberating the donut, this is the most fun I had in a Total War game since that time I thought playing the Ardiaei in Rome II was a good idea, and my full map completion of the Sun Jian campaign in 3K.
Supposedly in 3.0 they've made changes to how the AI functions in relation to the players so depending on the impact of those they should be more likely to at the very least attack you and the AI both instead of preferring to attack you.
@@Greshgore Yeah maybe that will solve the Oxyotl problem, and the savage orc and beastmen focused on being annoying mosquitoes that I can't seem to easily get rid of. Sadly my phone is handling my internet for now so until I have a proper internet connection, I won't be able to download the update.
Also the suitable climates for Teclis are as much of a disgrace as Tyrion's. Compared to Eltharion (who gets barren wasteland plus all the HE naturals), or better yet, Imrik (who also gets mountain), you soon find yourself limited to sth like 10 suitable provinces, with the deserts of Nehekhara being uninhabitable to the North, and the chaos wastes to the south. Super boring and annoying having to deal with that. Also, why on earth do HE not like temperate climate??
SFO teclis is very fun but i will agree with you vanilla teclis doesnt offer anything to keep plaing him after you pacify the southlands. maybe if you have tomb kings crisis on but every game i found bretonia, empire and lizardmen factions always curb stomp ai tomb kings and when the crisis happens they loose a few settlemnts but take them back after a few turns so the dont really need you. If they added a new mechanic to him and made the lizardmen factions north of him to not start with and instant 20 plus relations with teclis hed probably be top 5 campaigns for me because i enjoy him in game and lore wise so much but CA just missed the ball with him
Almost as if the game and AI changes over time and your comment is 11 months from when this was posted and the game has changed loads since then.... idiot
When I played this campaign for the first time, for some reason everyone soon or later declared war at me. All the lizards around, dwarfs, vampires, Tomb Kings... Even Repanse
you said sarthorael is just generic, that's not completely true, he has 800 hp less, 5 melee attack less, 5 melee defence less, 5 charge less, doesn't have prismatic plurality ability, but instead of costing 510 in upkeep like a regular lord of change, his upkeep is only 102 and he starts of as immortal. that's as far as i can tell at least. quite underwhelming as a semi legendary lord, but dirt cheap.
'Teclis is ideal for a short campaign.' - You said SHORT????
There will be no alliance. Only a reckoning

SHOOORT!?
HEIGHHT???
TALL???!!!
Some angry dwarf
I still LOVE these vids
If they added a new mechanic to him and made the lizardmen factions north of him to not start with and instant 20 plus relations with teclis hed probably be top 5 campaigns for me because i enjoy him in game and lore wise so much but CA just missed the ball with him
His strategy is wrong at the start. I left that other Tzeentch faction alone and they had a Doom Knights stack on turn 4.
Almost as if the game and AI changes over time and your comment is 11 months from when this was posted and the game has changed loads since then.... idiot
Sarthrale = Sarthorael?
Where is Krell?!? 😈💀 We have more mausoleums to defile! - Kemmler
I let kairos survive in early game. He deleted me at turn 50. It was a short campaign indeed!
Thanks for the video
When I played this campaign for the first time, for some reason everyone soon or later declared war at me. All the lizards around, dwarfs, vampires, Tomb Kings... Even Repanse
It's at that point that you decide to say feck it, This Is Total War campaign... And send it in to Legend to fix when it gets too much..
Teclis is the OneNightStand campaign for Warhammer III.
Khalida next!
you said sarthorael is just generic, that's not completely true, he has 800 hp less, 5 melee attack less, 5 melee defence less, 5 charge less, doesn't have prismatic plurality ability, but instead of costing 510 in upkeep like a regular lord of change, his upkeep is only 102 and he starts of as immortal. that's as far as i can tell at least. quite underwhelming as a semi legendary lord, but dirt cheap.
Then the Haughtiest of elf things uses the everchicken to stuff his pillow. i like it.
yes yes!
1st comment baby! Been trying everyday
1) How sad. Imagine living that life.
2) You're third lol.
I beat you 💀💀💀
Sarthshow Bob.
Imo every HE campaign NOT on the donut can be a more interesting one since the donut is still the easiest and most comfy area to be in
Boris Ursus.
Sometimes, to beat Tzeentch, you have to *become* Tzeentch
legund of tutoal wurr.

Top 5 smartest A.I. in Total War Games...
How can he have +15 with dwarfs with how inconsiderate he is in his speaking!?
SHORT!?🤣
I found befriendly all the lizardmen meant this campaign was super boring as I had no threats after taking out the choas birds.
Kalida could be the next lord.
