Frankie was having hearing issues at the time this was recorded, so he graciously delegated most of the vocals to his bandmates for this one. Thankfully a surgery restored most of his hearing in 1980.
@@berniemargolis4288 What’s amazing is that Frankie had poor hearing for years, even when making earlier hits. His 1st surgery for it (Otosclerosis) was about 1967. Per Frankie on the Mike Douglas Show, Sep. 3, 1975 (around the time they were making this album), he presently had only 25-30% hearing in his left ear & about 40% in his right, & had another surgery scheduled for Dec.
Yep, Drummer is not Frankie, Need to Check out the movie Jersey Boys to know about Frankie Valley! Also look into Frankie Valley singing in the 60's with the four seasons if you want to hear how high tenor of a voice Frankie Valley had in his day! Walk like a Man Sherry Big girls don't cry All 3 songs are from the 60's
The group “playing” in this vid are, from L-R; Lee Shapiro (piano), Don Ciccone (behind Frankie), Gerry Polic (drums) & John Paiva. I’m almost positive that’s Bob Gaudio playing the role of the Soda Jerk.
The movie is NOT a true story about the 4 seasons. It's a movie VERY LOOSELY based on the 4 seasons. the producers of the movie admit that. There is some truth. But it's mostly BULLSHIT!! And the timeline is completely F'ed up. It's a Rick Elise production based on a Rick Elise point of view. Do not take Jersey Boys as a documentary of the 4 seasons,(or Frankie Valli) at that matter. Because it is NOT!!! If you want a more accurate story of the 4 seasons. I recimend you buy the box set. Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons classic albums C.D. That has the time line in order. And you will see how soooooooo much of the real 4 seasons Rick left out. The part that upsets me the the most is that the movie TOTALLY omitted the 1975 Four Seasons. The Four Seasons that really recorded WHO LOVES YOU and DECEMBER, 1963. they put the song tracks in the movie. But the movie gave the impression that the original 4 seasons came back to record those tracks. THEY DID NOT !!!! Gerry polci, Don Ciccone, John Pavia and Lee shapirio recorded those tracks. The DAMNED movie NEVER mentioned them once!!! Not even in the closing credits. so NO!!!! It is NOT a true story about the 4 seasons. It's just a Rick Elise production.
this song was so popular back in the day, you could barely pass an hour before someone played it again. Frankie is not the guy on drums...Frankie is the other guy with a high pitched voice
I agree with the other good people that suggested “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You”. I would add “My Eyes Adored You” by Frankie Valli (w/o the Four Seasons).
Ummm. True these are Frankie Valli SOLO efforts. But THE FOUR SEASONS do the backing tracks. If fact My Eyes Adored You was to be a FOUR SEASONS single. But Barry Gordy of MOTOWN records refused to release it, Larry Uttal of the NEW Private Stock Records released it. But he would only sign Frankie Valli. So the track was released as a Frankie Valli SOLO.
The drummer is Gerry Polci. Frankie is the one who held the earphones up to his left ear. The third guy, who sang the falsetto, was Don Ciccone. It is a little different lineup, because usually it was Frankie who sang lead, and often in falsetto, for which he is famous. But they changed things up for this song. This was pretty much their last hit as a group (1975). Frankie had a solo hit with the song Grease, from the movie of the same name, in 1978.
LOVE Frankie Valli.....Leo the one playing the dreams and singing most isn’t actually Frankie though, the one on the stool that u asked about is Frankie!!!!!!
I took my mom to see Frankie Valli sing with the Houston Symphony about 7 years ago. His voice was still perfect. Incredible. My favorite song is Begging You, because it's so different, but Can'tTake My Eyes Off of You, and Walk Like A Man are probably his greatest. But his whole songbook is full of hits. I think he's touring now, at 87 years old.!
I grew up in the country of Turkey where there wasn't television or American music anywhere. My mother had brought her record player and albums with us. I was 6yrs old listening to this song in 1963! Memory Lane for sure.
The song features drummer Gerry Polci on lead vocals, with , the group's usual lead vocalist, singing the bridge sections and backing vocals, and bass player Don Ciccone - former lead singer of The Critters - singing the falsetto part ("And I felt a rush like a rolling ball of thunder / Spinning my head
It's definitely about S E X, but I always thought It's about him losing his V card on a one night stand to a "very experienced Lady"! Lol... actually I think it implied it in the movie. You should watch Jersey Boys, it's the story of Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons(which in the beginning went by & recorded under several different names) but The movie puts most focus on Frankie & his journey & going solo. His voice range can get incredibly high, I was really hoping you'd make your way to this one, this is one of my favorite songs and I'm glad you enjoyed it at as well. Great Reaction & Good Vibes!😁
Frankie doesnt DANCE!!!! The MOVIE WAS full of BULLSHIT. The Movie was a made up story very LOOSELY assosiated to the 4 seasons. There was some truth. But it was mostly BULLSHIT. and the time line was totally F'ed Up!!! TOTALLY!!!! Go watch youtube. You will see. In the 60s' 70, and 80s THE FOUR SEASONS do NOT Dance!!!! They play instruments.

I was 3 months old in late December 1963. But, when this song was released I was 12 and knew what this song was about. My friends & I use to dance to this song everytime it came on the radio.
There's a blast from the past!!! My mama used to listen to this song all the time. Its a great song tho, you can't help but like its upbeat happy feeling!!! Awesome reaction too!!
One of the greatest groups of all time. Frankie Valli is now in his 80’s and still doing. They have dozens of hits. Can’t believe you never heard of the 4 seasons. But now you have. :)
Frankie, his name is Frankie lol this has always been a favorite, more from Frankie ~ let's hang on, who loves you, walk like a man, can't take my eyes off of you or big girls don't cry, all of these songs were huge hits...♡
You want to see how high Frankie can sing, try "Sherry" a classic I still sing Sherry once in a while, myself. There is a live version of big girls don't cry from 1962, that you might want to check out as well, he hits very high notes here!
The drummer/singer is actually Gerry Polci. He was a senior percussion major at Montclair State College in NJ when I was a freshman in fall of 1971. Frankie Valli is the guy sitting on the stool.
This song came out in 1976 and still is as fun to hear as it was back then. I bought the 45 vinyl record the year is was released at 9 years old. Such a fun upbeat song.
Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons are Icons! I was 3 years old in 1963. I'm feeling old. LOL. However...age is just a number and your channel helps keep me young!!!
This song came on the radio at work every so often. One time I was dancing around to it and I remarked to one of the college hires that it was a great song. She kind of just rolled her eyes. I guess it's been a long time since it was a new song, but even when I was a teen in the 90's I enjoyed this track. It just grooves hard!
Frankie is the guy holding the headset, sitting on the stool, wearing all denim and singing the chorus. This was about the time he quit singing. Everyone has mentioned some fabulous songs of his. Please do some - you'll be amazed after hearing him do all the songs
This is still one of the songs I go to when I need my spirit lifted. Now I can return to this video. Thanx Leo you're appreciated 💜 puff puff pass my friend 💨💨💨
Great reaction as always! Leo could you please do some more Oasis? Supersonic, Champagne Supernova, Live Forever, etc. They're my favorite band ever, thanks! ♡

When I was a senior in high school (late 90’s), this song became popular again. So much so that the junior class voted Oh What a Night to be the theme for the Jr/Sr Prom. Admin heard about that and put the kabosh on it. Had to go with the second pick, Midnight Masquerade. Mini revenge ensued when we got the DJ to play the song 3 times in a row on Prom night.
If you enjoy male falsetto singing, then you definitely need to explore more from Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons (originally known simply as The Four Seasons). Frankie has one of the best falsettos in the business.
DANG IT!!! Some people had me distracted elsewhere! Nice diversion tacti Elyse!! ;) ;) SO happy we get another one from you today Leo!! Gonna watch now!!
You know you’re something special when they make a Broadway musical about you (Jersey Boys). Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons had a ton of hits (before the British Invasion). “Big Girls Don’t Cry”, “Rag Doll”, “Sherry”, and many others.
Former keyboard player Bob Gaudio wrote this song. Bob wrote this about the night he lost his virginity (Dec. 24th, 1963). Bobby was only 17. Frankie Valli is the 5'3 Italian.
Grew up listening to this band. Absolutely love their music and this song is one of my favorites. Theirs was the first concert my dad took my brother to. Yeah my brother was 4 years old. He still remembers it to this day. I think we have a picture of them in their 70’s suits! Loved your reaction Leo! I was dancing with you! Love ya lots! ❤️😘
They started having big hits in the early Sixties. The first album The Beatles ever released in the U.S. had The Beatles on one side, and Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons on the other side. True Story. They're kind of valuable today. Their later hits in the Seventies are wonderful also. You should react to "Swearin' to God" and "My Eyes Adored You". But their Big Disco Hit was "Who Loves You" and it is definitely their greatest dance song ever. You can't listen to it without wanting to get on the dance floor!
Gerry Polci is the lead singer on this. He was the drummer in The Four Seasons, and a late addition to the band Frankie Valli only sings the prechorus parts (..."I got a funny feelin' when she walked in the room Oh my, as I recall it ended much too soon...")
If you're gonna do Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, you HAVE to do Big girls don't cry, Sherry & Walk like a man as well. 👌 #classics
2nd vote for Big Girls Don't Cry.
agreed
"Can't take my eyes off of you" as well!!!
Rag Doll. How can you not mention Rag Doll?
@@Gypsygray How is it possible you didn't mention any other than the one you did? ...

I remember seeing Frankie sing that on American Bandstand, damn I'm old.
the track was released as a FRANKIE VALLI solo track. Look at the label on the record.
My favorite
Frankie, Baby! And if you think his voice is high in this one, try their song Shery!! Another great reaction, my man!
Frankie is the one in the denim suit. 🥰
