What I find amazing about the design with this mode is the fact that instead of outright being easier than normal mode, it's designed to push you as hard as you push it, so if you play for rank/scoring it can be just as hard as normal mode.
Right? Although it can generally be easier than normal, it's also completely different and it's as you said, so unlike other games where skilled players may never touch an easy mode, they wanna master both White Vanilla and Green Orange, because it's worth it.

Their place is taken by Regret (a generic supercomputer with no personality) and Great Oppressor (a generic alien overlord who wants to conquer Earth). If anything, that's just a generic simulation-running AI.
this is also the part of scoring mechanic: time is also a factor, if you kill all enemies in the section, the stage will fast-forward to the point when next group of enemies appears. If you destroy all enemies quickly, you progress quicker, you get better time - and better grades.

Very impressive ! Been playing it for years and i didn't even mention this mode even since i reset the game and beat the tlb several times. But my white vanilla final boss keeps looping so i wonder what i missed, am i too slow?
You'll either get the "you'll make it some day" if you get below A rank, at A rank it's "you did it but there's an even higher rank that will get you a greater reward" and then THIS
@@JeffHikari Basically the big cheese literally popping their eyes out, unable to believe that you actually surpassed Erasure by getting an 'impossible' rank. To be fair, they deserve it, considering that they only brow-beat us, no matter how well we do. Hell, we get the highest grade, and they accuse of breaking the system, that the 'klutz' we are can't beat Erasure. I'm sure that Green Orange made absolutely sure to wipe those bastards out. They're self-prideful to the point that it's hilarious.

Update came out yesterday for the anniversary. Says there is new content for " those who have reached LIGHT..."
I like that the Sim speeds up the boring parts with no enemies
