ZeroRanger - White Vanilla / Light Mode - 1cc + Enlightningment Challenge (A++, 1,135,372)

Also called Light Mode after beating Normal mode once, White Vanilla is a new game mode that ZeroRanger got updated with about a week ago.
White Vanilla is a 1-loop mode with remixed stages and a different scoring system. It's technically supposed to be an easier mode than Normal mode, but it has a much higher rank threshold for scoring, so it can get much harder. There is also a unique TLB.
The scoring system is now based on speedkilling instead of chaining, which is a nice change of pace from the Normal mode. Once you clear the screen of enemies the scrolling speeds up until the next set of enemies. This is key for getting the time bonuses.
After every section you get graded on hits, time and destruction and the score multiplier increases based on the grades. Max grade is Z, which gives +1.00 multiplier.
Enlightningment is an in-game achievement for getting all the in-game achievements for White Vanilla in a single run. It's quite tough.
Completing achievements gives you coins that you can use to buy art in the gallery. There are also two unique coins that you can use to buy two unique pieces of art. The Enlightenment one is one of those. There is a similar one for Normal mode.
The achievements for this mode and scoring are a bit at odds. For example for score you want to speedkill the TLB until the final phase and then milk all the minions right before timeout. But you can't do that for the 90 second speedkill achievement.
Full Z rank doesn't seem that bad except for the last crystal eye boss. That just seems like complete luck at max rank?
TLB doesn't actually count for ranks.

The third mode is planned to be Black Onion, nominally a hard mode but if White Vanilla is anything to go by (before release the dev described it as basically just an easy mode), much more interesting than that.

@@icy_9519 Can you imagine Black Onion being like an complete turn around....like if you still didn't destory the Lotus, it the damn black onions coming back again for revenge or they surviving the destruction of the lotus and still wanting revenge?
if you look up a demo, its called black onion. subtitle is 'tears will be shed'

Fantastic run! Just a question, is Light Mode the same thing as White Vanilla? I never got a chance to play White Vanilla cause I was saving it for after I beat Green Orange, but ended up getting Normal Mode and Light Mode and can't seem to go back

There are some differences if you play White Vanilla before completing the game.
The most prominent difference is the end dialogue, but there is an important thematic difference to the final fight.
I'd say give it a go playing it on a blank file after making a backup!

Or-Type and Stage 4 Boss are quite the runkillers if going for Z Rank clear. Stage 4 boss has the merits because is the end of the run, but Or-Type... handle with caution for Z Rank the Time conditions
Been able to handle Or-Type consistently for while. What part is giving you trouble? Time?

Imagine if the 3rd mode was locked behind getting a full z rank clear.
That would make sense, because it's supposed to be a lot harder.
Imagine if it unlocked A-type ship in the normal game
Fantastic run, I was wondering if you have any more tips for the Bonus Round 3 achievement? I use Type-B with Sword and I struggle so hard, I've only been able to get it with Drill but I prefer sword for the full White Vanilla Run.
Backshot definitely gets the most out of anything. Use diagonal movement to escape the big bullets as you move faster diagonally than horizontally.

Seems like the stage 3 crab always shoots at me, which doesn't happen to you here!
It only shoots when you get too close to it.
