You were spot on! I personally think the cards that people can get in now and be doing very well in that 3 month time from are the Select True Silver Prizm of Courtside and Mezzanine. They have fewer of those. The True silver courtside and likely Mezzanine will be more valuable than the true silver Prizm because of the print run.
Happens with every hyped player.

I sent some in to get graded. My profit has only been around $30 on the gems! Lesson learned.
NEO did a video on the base being sold by the seller in China. They are a consignment seller and there are counterfeits apparently leaked out and sent to them.

Love this type of video! I’d like to see more as I think it’s got an educational aspect from someone with years of experience inside the hobby and it’s just plain fun which is oftentimes missing from sports card videos. Keep up the great work!

It would be interesting to do this experiment with a PSA 10 of this card. Also, it seems like the inserts which are less common would be more valuable than the base cards.

Great video. especially for people new to the hobby. High Pop cards will always inflate around release and come down to a level price. Knowing when to buy is as important as what to buy.
Close enough for me. I thought you were right from the first video. I wouldn’t be surprised if the level was at $30. So still a nice price for a base rookie after this long since release

I watched a Wemby PSA 9 sell last night on Pristine Auctions for $35
I sent to them when they 1st started. Worst customer service ever. Never paid me for all my cards. Lost tons of money in aucton.....never again

You should do a series for nba, nfl, and mlb before season starts on a few players and then a follow up at end of season.
the real question is what his prizm parallels will do… i feel like stay they same or go up. hard to say with the numbered ones though they just seem to go for so so so so much money.
I think the experienced collector knows better than to invest money on a young player, no matter how good, for substantial money. 99% of these guys never pan out and your left with a piece of cardboard worth nothing. Collect what you like and enjoy the hobby.

That is the way it is with most cards nowadays, overprint, and not going to keep value. SCARCITY, that is the way to keep value. Even #/ cards have so many variations from other companies that are #/ that they aren't really scarce. 1of 1's or maybe up to 100, can retain long term value. Good prediction but you can say that about most any cards anymore.
China sales = most likely fake cards. Lots of fake cards. The problem with people who just got into this hobby last week, they assume that every phenom is a great "investment" and don't understand that a trading card company understands the hype and will make thousands of different cards of that particular player to take advantage of the buyers.
They are 100% fake. Google and you will find an article on sportscollectorsdaily with the title "CPB Officers Seize Counterfeit Prizm Wembanyama Rookie Cards"

What happens when people don't try to hoard them to flip them. Prices will continue to crash
Chris, can you please make a video explaining why 1st Bowmans and prospect cards are a popular thing in baseball collecting, when the equivalent to minor league cards in other sports, like NBA G-League, XFL, etc. are not a segment in sports card collecting at all. I’m struggling to understand the difference as a football and basketball collector.
I want to figure out how to short cards like we can short stocks! 😮
It is possible if you can find someone to borrow the card from, with the requirement to sell an identical card back to him, plus a fee for him, at some specified time in the future.

So many of the negative comments point out that he is only 20 years old - and age is a valid point. But he is also 7'4". The track record for players of his height having a long career is not very good.

You're not really talking smack on the player or card. For decades it has most often been the case that when a product of the hot young prospect almost always goes down.

It's off season- if he looks good and the kids like him, his bubble will be viable for a while- paying top end for any of this stuff is peek silly imo though
The off centered ones go for under 40. The centered ones are still between 50-60

Couldn’t agree more Chris, also the card IMO, is incredibly ugly. The black curtain in the background and the generic hardwood floor, boo to Panini for this awful picture on a flagship release. My money will be in alternative Wemby rookies. As always thanks for the incredible content.
I was actually hoping for it to drop even more. Was hoping to snag some PSA 10s for cheap but I guess the current price is ok even though the Pop report shows 10,305 PSA 10s.

Heavy dilution from prizm and like you said the China seller really diluted it. Dude must have bought tons of cases. Big $$$ in china compared to the usa. If they would have sold small amounts slowly it wouldn't have dipped so drastic. Once prizm finally stops stelling in the stores it will go back up to $100+

Over 10k PSA 10's graded and still ever increasing. Those prices will drop also as the population count increases.

If I’m being totally honest, I forgot that you did the original Wemby video and that you would be making a subsequent to it. I’m not saying that to be negative about your videos because I’m sure by now you know I always love them. I think collectors are onto ultra modern base cards being overprinted. The FOMO towards base cards is over regarding crazy prices like Zion base was a few years ago.
In saying that, sales are still string on base cards on this card so there is a place for them in the hobby. Not everyone can afford the high end stuff or even mid end as the base cards still appeal to a big portion of the hobby. I just think people are more educated now and understand that ultra modern base cards won’t appreciate as much (or at all) in the long run.
This card will go down to $20 by end of the 2025

What are your thoughts on Anthony Richardson cards? I've been thinking to hold since he didn't play last year but then I see some people saying that he's way over valued at the moment and his prices are gonna come crashing down
I made the same prediction on Connor Bedard's Young Guns card this year and received similar hate. Like you said, the prediction was not based on the player himself, it was purely based on supply and demand.
I wonder if the price decline will continue for Wemby and Bedard until we find an equilibrium. The question is when does the demand finally outweigh the supply
I'd say in that 3 to 6 month after release range.

I kind of disagree about why the card is $40... it only started falling when all the counterfeit cards hit the market. China is still pumping them out and people are still buying them.

It has that potential. But there's also predicting the career he will have too. And avoiding a myriad of injuries, too.

I think a lot of it has to do with big guy positions not being as valued as high as guards and forwards. Victor is an anomaly because of the hype built into him, but most of the history of basketball sports cards shows that big guys tend to not value out as high in the long run. I do think Jokic autos and his rookie will always hold some value, but I personally wouldn't invest heavily in him unless playing the long game on any return.
