When the new Lara Craft model came up - I was ewxspecting to hear some whining about her breasts being less than double D. How did the actual story end up to be dumber? So basically they are doing Phrenology again, but for video game characters?

The new Lara Croft's tits are actually larger than the last redesign she went through, and yet I wouldn't have been surprised if they started complaining about it nonetheless. This time around she kinda looks like what a porn star would look like with clothes on to me, which I don't personally enjoy all that much but I though certain elements of the community would.
Instead they fucking transvestigate her. You what mate? I enjoy anime girls as much as the next tranfem gal, but I do have a firm grasp of what cis women tend to look like and I'm well aware that real women, cis or trans, don't look like in anime. This is hentai brain, there is no other way to look at it, and I speak as someone who does like hentai.

i'm responsible for a nude model drawing class. the amount of times i've been hit with gross commentaries on a female model's body from a supposedly 'professional' or 'serious' male artist is staggering. luckily most people understand what an art class is and how to act but it still baffles me some dudes will do this - like the model's body is theirs to sexualise in a setting that is very obviously NOT ABOUT THAT.

That's pretty accurate. Anti-wokeism is, at present, the exact thing that used to be decried as "Tumblr SJW hysteria" ten years ago, and the same thing as the Satanic Panic and the other half dozen times the Religious Right tried this nonsense. It's the same exact process of making up incoherent nonsense to be outraged about, claiming it's the result of some insidious secret cabal of evil people conspiring to destroy society, and providing absolutely zero evidence for any of that ever actually being a real issue. Except instead of people complaining about "manspreading" or hidden messages in metal music or whatever, now it's "millennial writing" or "woke chins" or whatever other boogeyman of the week is being blamed for reactionary fears of time moving forward and the world changing in any way.
Fortunately, reality exists. The Venn diagram between "moral panic" and "real issue that needs to be taken seriously" is two circles.

Sony also damn near killed a franchise I like called Senran Kagura which was an anime game with fan service. It just sucks how we aren’t allowed to like sexy women in western video games unless they are ugly, trans, or gay. Meanwhile we have eastern games that have no problem creating good looking characters so we just play those now. Same thing happened to American comics, they went woke now Japanese manga dominates global sales. You most likely won’t listen or care but it’s obvious this is an issue. Some diminish or obliterate that value by dedicating themselves to malicious pursuits, true, but most of us want to help build the world we want to live in, and that means pretty much any of us could end up having all kinds of abilities or unique talents that nobody even suspected until they manifested. Having others believe in us, and feeling confidence in oneself, helps us find the things we can do.
Being beaten down verbally (or even physically), having our confidence undermined and our trust betrayed, and generally being damaged by our environment and the people we share it with, on the other hand... makes it considerably harder to find those things. Can be hard to avoid, though, if one is unlucky enough to end up in those situations.
Best wishes, and just keep being your best self. You'll find things you can do. =)

@@awakeandwatching953 What we're saying is that not every female character needs to look the same, and it's pretty neat that some companies are starting to get a little bit more interesting with their character designs rather than just cater to the part of the audience who just want the exact same female model every time. We're saying it's art direction and that it's not a problem.
And we're saying whining about chins as if they were a real problem (like crunch, transphobia, or layoffs are) is pretty pathetic.
Even IF they were making female characters "more masculine" - so fucking what? It's not happening but even if it was, it wouldn't be a problem. If you want a character to wank to, there are plenty of those already available. Not every single female character needs to cater to your taste in women. The idea that every character needs to be "attractive" is absolutely insane.

So far I haven't seen any transvestigators, but weirdos, unfortunately, spring eternal.
I draw a lot of Wanda Maximoff fanart, and my design for Wanda is medium brown in complexion and has a strong aquiline nose and thicker eyebrows, in line with how many Roma women like Wanda look in real life. This upsets a certain subset of predominantly-MCU-based "fans," who are oversensitive about the fact that some people (myself included) think it was a mistake to cast Lizzie Olsen, a non-Romani, non-Jewish white woman, in this role and we're vocal about that, and fail to manage their sensitivity in pro-social ways, instead lashing out at us when we're not even talking to them.
Recently, I mentioned in an art post that I use Rita Hayworth as a pose and fashion reference for my Wanda, because Rita was Spanish Romani and Wanda wanted to be an actress when she was young, so it feels right to use images of Rita as reference for Wanda.
The weirdos lost their minds about this and started flaming me and lacking all reading comprehension, insisting that I was a hypocrite for having a dark-skinned Wanda design while purporting to use Rita Hayworth as a reference.
So yeah. Rita is not exempt from having weirdos be judgmental in convos tangentially involving her, unfortunately.

Funny, first thing I thought when seeing the Joanna Dark design was that they'd based it on Ashley Johnson (and then I jumped to the conclusion she was voicing the character). Then I looker up whose voicing her and its Alix Wilton Regan...and low and behold she has a striking resemblance to the character.
So they based the design on the voice actor......but no, it's all some "evil agenda" touted by a select group of people who seem to find a boogieman under every fucking stone in a zen garden.

It was mostly girls at first, but after mediating a couple conflicts well meaning guys worried they weren't Doing It Right showed up from time to time as well.

The idea of *caring for someone they wanted to have sex with, establishing a relationship first,* was so alien to these teenagers that one guy literally had his jaw hanging open when I explained it to him.

      @darkstar0000000000 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@AG-en5y Absolutely. I would say that I just watched a 20 minute video which concisely summed up the issue and then spent about 30 seconds leaving a comment on video for a total time consumption of about 20.5 minutes of my day.
The issue posed by the behavior exhibited in said video is that to scan the Internet for news of new games, to look up concept images and pre release artwork and advertising materials, and then to then have a compiled chart or spreadsheet of the measurements of each facial dimension that sum up to make beauty to compare that digital face to, find a supposed flaw in it, and then take to the Internet leaving comment chains and having multi-hour conversations and making videos and podcasts about how the chins are woke and no woman has ever had any type of chin then the one they have in a folder marked perfect chins and so on and so forth.
The difference is, I've watched one video, heard about what the man children are crying about, and I'm done. They are dumb AF, nothing new here. They on the other hand spend some amount of time and energy on the matter acting like this is something that deeply affects them. "Oh no! I don't get an erection looking at this video game character!! It's a shit game!"
Just listening to this discourse over what constitutes as beautiful for a woman coming from a group of men that will never know a woman's touch they didn't pay for is rich.
Pro tip, women don't f*cking care what you as a man think the standards for beauty for women should be, and especially are not impressed by you complaining you can't get it up to a video game character.
Stop being a f*cking goon and you'll find that the world isn't what you're making it out to be, the problem was you all along.
But that's just me, I'm sure others would say something else.

A lot of these dudes who lack any sort of sex life or partner really do need friends who are consistently physically present. Not online group chats or comment sections or video chats. No, they need actual buddies. Easier said than done for some of them sure but I'm older, in my 30s now and I've always had quite a few friend groups. I feel bad for a lot of dudes younger than me who just sit on their computer all day. You get laid by a friend introducing you to someone else or you go to a party and meet someone or heck even one of your buddies sets you up. Also real human interaction decreases the likelihood for getting so lost in the sauce of culture war politics and terminally online debates. When you're actually in the room with a diverse set of friends you learn how to actually talk to people and that helps find connection with someone. Basically these people have to touch some grass.

Imo part of the problem people don't address is the Carland issues. When I was very young I lived in a housing complex and every day my brothers and I would scatter out to its limits with our friends getting up to shenanigans and playong sports or pretend.
Then my parents moved us to a bigger house in a "normal" suburb and every single one of us became keyboard surfers all day long. It would take 20 mins of walking just to reach a park, there was nothing except the park around unless you had money, and the jungle gym in it was only for the smallest kids so unless we wanted to play soccer, nothing to do.
As I got older, I was sent almost exclusively to schools that were physically far from my house, so I had friends at school but I couldn't hang out after school because I'd miss the bus and both my parents worked and thus didn't want to pick me up. On weekends, I didn't go anywhere because public transit was bad and cost money I didn't have and my friends eventually just stopped inviting me over because I could never get a ride.
By high school I didn't even participate in any clubs, because, again, I'd miss the fucking bus. The only bus I could rely on. And for reference I'm extremely social. I never had public speaking issues and as soon as I had a job and was going to university I had lots of friends and would meet them regularly. Once I had a license even more so.
But the fact that most parents want their children to live in suburbia, a fucking wasteland for any fun or activity, is because it's "safer" and then these suburban spots have little to no transit and parents are too tired from work+commute that they can't take their kids anywhere leads to the iPad baby epidemic.
Capitalism is a huge part as well, because catering only to kids and teens is either not profitable or too expensive for most families, but especially the fact that North America is spread out super thin and has basically no solid rail or bus networks anywhere except the biggest and densest cities means none of this will change no matter how much people whine about it on social media.
We need to fucking stop prioritizing cars over people. 15 mins cities and vibrant activity diversity will do infinitely more for social lives than any amount of brow beating.

The increasing lack of community is a more destructive thing than a lot of people realize, given it's another thing pushed by techbros and the forces that be.
I know how it is, too - there isn't shit to do here and it's impossible to begin sometimes once you've been left behind. A lot of these guys probably suck around people, but people are also super busy with their own existing in-groups and don't tend to have much bandwidth for new individuals that don't sell well.
