    Let's be honest, this isn't so much a review/comparison of cameras, but of software processing.
    The Pixel 7 is new and will most likely get several updates over time that will take its photographic capability beyond the currently more mature Pixel 6 in all areas.

  • @pmlarry8371
    @pmlarry8371 2 ปีที่แล้ว +66

    Quite similar. The biggest weakness of P6P is that it takes ages to take a night mode shot.

    • @RaymondUpenieks
      @RaymondUpenieks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Although the night mode on Pixel 6 pro is long the normal camera mode the camera takes great photos in comparison to Pixel 4XL. I'm completely happy with the Pixel 6 Pro but wish it had macro focus since it uses the wide angle and not a dedicated lens. I'm considering it for that reason alone since the upgrade price isn't that much but it's still money

  • @kassim120

    With camera updates on phones am always left wondering whether it’s an upgrade or it’s just spicing a little bit to up the market

    • @RaymondUpenieks
      @RaymondUpenieks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Uffff I love macro photography and although it's not going to compare to DSLR with a true macro lens it's there. Looking at the camera shots there isn't much difference to justify the upgrade. Yet I'm debating it only for the one feature that some people don't need but depending on use some of the updates are legitimate for specific users

    • @LowetheTechGuy
      @LowetheTechGuy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is an upgrade for those screaming the loudest for it, but it's a downgrade for those who are content with the endless amount of features we have.

  • @maxpackard1952
    @maxpackard1952 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    Dude! The background blur in the night mode portrait was not better on the 6 Pro. More blur does not equal better blur - in fact, if you look at the 6 Pro image where you zoomed for a second, you'll quickly notice that the edge detection has completely screwed up, making the background blur useless whether you like the stronger DOF effect more or not.

  • @powerfultoa7
    @powerfultoa7 2 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    The 7 Pro has more details in the shadows but that has the disadvantage of making the image a little flatter compared to the 6. Personally I think that's a better scenario as you'll have less noise in the shadows compared to the 6 if you were to bring it up in post.
    I'm liking the better colors on the 7 Pro so far, which is definitely an improvement.

      they are overall great devices. There are so many other improvements in the Pixel 7 Pro over the Pixel 6 Pro beyond the camera capabilities. What can you really make better! Screen quality and speed are pretty good even on cheaper phones so the only thing to really improve on is the camera. I never really cared about 120hz fluid movement memory ect. I buy it because of the camera and phone calls of course. It's better than having to carry one everywhere and since we always have our phones what's the point. The selfie test is a toss up because of the different sensor resolutions and the wider field of view on the 7 pro's front camera. They both have fixed focus so the issue here is likely you needed to keep your hand a bit further away on one of the devices to get the focus plane in the right spot. They dont have autofocus on either front facing cameras

    • @MrRiverwind
      @MrRiverwind 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi. This specific issue is so important for me. I ordered a 7 Pro and don't want a selfie where I am out of focus. I like sharp selfie and sharp pictues in general. Are you sure about what you're saying?. I'm going to try by myself as soon as I get the device, but I would be calmer until then if you say that it is only a matter of the distance at which the selfies should be taken. Please any info about it will be much apreciated....🙏
      EDIT: ...btw...why do you think they don't put autofocus in selfie camera?...I like photography so much but don't understand much technical stuff.

    The most ideal is to use a 2x optical zoom lens for portraits. But since most Pixel doesn't have it, they got to opt for digital zoom. You may argue it's not using the whole main sensor. You are not wrong, but wide lens tends to distort at a shorter focal length and the subject's nose would become bigger.

  • @wrx95pro
    @wrx95pro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    • @RaymondUpenieks
      @RaymondUpenieks 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I traded a Pixel 4XL and the P4 is still a very good phone. The 6 Pro is better in all aspects but the difference isn't that much. A better overall experience and the strange part is that even though the Pixel 6 Pro has a much larger screen the full screen makes the two phones almost identical in size. Before I bought a case (OtterBox Defender Pro) the old case outer cover worked and fit the Pixel 6 Pro.

    The background separation for portraits is nice if you just point, shoot, and post (which I understand is what most people want). I actually prefer the pixel's portrait mode though because it includes more of the original background details in the final image. Means I have more options and creative room when post-processing images myself.

    How you don't see it... ?! You see "identical" but they're not. Pixel 6 has less brightness to the shadows man, that in many cases makes a photo more realistic - better. Cinematic and portrait modes are a mess especially on 7 Pro.

      Is it me, I prefer realistic, so darer in the shadows is what I prefer. That is very subjective and does not make the photo/video better, just brighter. In post you can easily brighten the darker areas. So I disagree, the Pixel 6 Pro is better and I have both. The caveat was that I preferred my Pixel 5 to the Pixel 6 Pro a year ago, and Google did a few updates that reversed that opinion, so hopefully the P7P will get better.

    Cinematic mode looks real bad and selfi, my 6 Pro camera was very good, and if I were still a Pixel fan, I wouldn’t be upgrading for this camera on 7 Pro, minor differences. How often do people use the 30x zoom anyway… Need to remember the 6 Pro has had a few updates, so when the 7 Pro receives updates it should be better, hopefully! @Lewis mocker can only speak as I find, my 6 Pro was a very good camera, the phone had many software updates and after the May update it was awful buggy for me, not as reliable as my 4XL I had before. That is what put me off upgrading to the 7 Pro this year, however, I’m sure it will be better now it has face unlock etc. I’ve upgraded to iPhone 14 Pro Max this year as a result of my 6 Pro experience, some had loads of issues some none at all, weird! 🤷‍♀️

    WTF ?! how it is possible that Dxomark qualifies it as the first. Clearly it has many things to improve, probably of the worst portrait mode, cinema mode is the worst, in night photography and videos it has a very high grain... among many other things. In favor, HDR only in photographs and white balance 🤣🤣

    Why is no one talking about the downgrades? The 4x on the pixel 6pro is sooo much better than the 5x on 7 pro! It's another league. The 6pro has better colour in pics and vids. The 7 pro pics are washed out. Additionally, the speakers are terrible on the 7

    People are subjective. Dxomarc has the Google 7 pro as the top dog in camera's. Better than 6pro all Samsung's and all apple. It's done by computers.

    this is interesting. which camera app version were you using on the pixel 7? my main concern has been the new tele lens on the 7. comparing here against the 6 pro there is a big difference on the tele, in favour of the 6. yours look almost identical.

    For the telephoto lens, the x5 optical zoom is really really very disappointing compared to the Pixel 6 Pro, I regret having taken the 7 Pro on this point, it's so bad.
