Das Volkswagenwerk Hannover ist im Stadtteil Hannover-Stöcken angesiedelt und der Hauptsitz von Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge (VWN), einer Sparte der Volkswagen AG. Im Dezember 2014 waren dort rund 13.920 Mitarbeiter beschäftigt.
Das Werk produziert seit 1956 den VW Transporter und von 1975 bis 2006 auch den VW LT, außerdem den Multivan. Von 2012 bis 2020 wurde der VW Amarok, neben dem VW-Werk Pacheco, zusätzlich in Hannover produziert. Von besonderer Bedeutung sind auch die Gießerei, in der vorwiegend Zylinderköpfe und Saugrohre hergestellt werden, sowie die Wärmetauscherfertigung.
Das Werksgelände ist etwa 1,1 km² groß
Im März 1950 begann VW, im Werk Wolfsburg den VW Transporter in Serie zu produzieren. Als die Kapazität des Wolfsburger Werkes für die gestiegene Nachfrage nicht mehr ausreichte folgte der Entschluss, die Produktion in ein neu zu bauendes Werk in Hannover auszulagern.
Am 1. März 1955 fand die Grundsteinlegung für das Werk Hannover statt; am 8. März 1956 lief das erste Fahrzeug vom Montageband. Neben der Produktion des Transporter wurden in Hannover auch VW Käfer, VW 181, VW LT, VW-MAN-Lkw sowie wassergekühlte Motoren für andere Werke hergestellt. Von 1989 bis 1995 wurde in Kooperation mit Toyota in Hannover auch der VW Taro montiert.
1970 verkaufte Volkswagen 287.000 Transporter, ein knappes Viertel davon in den USA; die Belegschaft im Werk Hannover zählte zum Jahresende seinen Höhepunkt mit 27.744 Mitarbeitern.
Für die Betriebsabläufe im Werk besonders prägend waren die Modellwechsel des VW-Transporters, so der Wechsel vom T3 zum T4 im Jahr 1990 und vom T4 zum T5 im Jahr 2003. Von März 2009 bis August 2016 wurde neben den VW-Nutzfahrzeugen in Hannover auch die Karosserie des Porsche Panamera gebaut, die im Porsche-Werk Leipzig zum fertigen Wagen komplettiert wurde. Seit 2015 wird in dem Werk auch der T6 produziert.
In der Sommerpause 2021 wurde das Werk umgebaut, sodass auch Fahrzeuge des MEB-Baukasten gebaut werden können. Außerdem wurde das Werk auch für die Produktion des VW T7 angepasst, der erstmals auf Basis der MQB-Plattform gebaut wird.

The complete build process is amazing and I can't wait to take a test drive in the ID. I have owned 3 Volkswagen's in the past and this vehicle looks pretty cool and futuristic at the same time. I hope the range is more than a few hundred miles with all the new battery types coming to market. Would love to see more videos on the build process.

Ab Minute 5:00 wird dann plötzlich in Handarbeit der Rest verbaut...
Der eine Typ auf dem Stuhl bekommt den Schraubenzieher angereicht wie ein Oberarzt im Op-Saal... 😂🤣
Das ist genau ausgetüftelt, was Roboter machen und was Teams machen. Teamarbeit ist ein wichtiger Bestandteil die Arbeitsbedingungen zu verbessern. Teams sind weniger krank und machen weniger Fehler als Einzelpersonen die immer nur eine Schraube eindrehen. Das ist die Erfahrung der letzten 50 Jahre. Bei VW gabe es die berühmte Halle 54 in der alles vollautomatisch lief, aber dann gab es immer mehr fehler und Krankheitsmeldungen.

Das ist noch keine Serienproduktion. Dort wurde das Personal im laufendes Prozess qualifiziert ( davor und dahinter jeweils T6 ). Derjenige der den Schraubendreher reicht wird vermutlich vom „Anlaufteam“ sein und entsprechendes Werkzeug ( anderer Drehmoment für die ID Buzz- spezifische Verschraubung) bereit halten was in dem Takt sehr wahrscheinlich noch nicht in Serie zum Einsatz kommt.

Yeah, actually. At least there has been an "unofficial" leak to that effect. Frankly, they'd be silly not to make a camper.
I think California version is planned for 2025! May be by then it VW will decent range to their EVs. Also, bring back the 2 back window control buttons, remove Piano Black surfaces and add some accelration.
They realized all of the sudden they had no electric socket in the cabin for a camper...so they have to redesign it till 2025 to make it viable for camping. 🙈

Mein Kommentar wieso macht Ihr nicht den Fahrgastraum noch länger daß wir Handwerker noch weniger Ladefläche haben.
Nehmt Euch doch ein Beispiel am T 1 ,T2, und T 3 diese Fahrzeuge waren nicht so lang und hatten trotzdem mehr Ladefläche.
Es soll eine Langversion folgen

Die Konstrukteure kommen nur aus der Schule. Sie haben keine Erfahrung als Handwerker. Alles muss nur "schön" sein, was einhergeht mit der Verkaufsmanipulation (Marketing).
Irgenwann baue ich ein Automobilwerk, in dem viele alte Karosserien wieder neu aufgelegt werden. Modernisiert, im Baukastenprinzip und mit einfachster Elektronik. Damit sie jeder reparieren kann und der Wert eines Fahrzeuges auch im Detail wieder vorhanden ist. Damit kann eine Volkswirtschaft Wohlstand aufbauen!

Amazing , a once very labor intensive process. Simplified by automation. Had the opportunity to tour GM Van Nuys, & Nummi in Fremont.

How AMAZING the engineers design every point of making this vehicle. At last each one of them will electrically run and they will run perfectly.🤔🤔
What? The amount of people physically involved in this is incredibly silly. The video literally has people tightening bolts, and it’s so slow….I’m not saying it won’t end up being a fun vehicle but this is woefully defunct of automation and engineering.

Whenever I see anything built in Germany, I’m always impressed by the precision. With that, why do German cars have a reputation for problems? Is it overstated and untrue?
Not mandatory, because of the background it depends on the country you live in.

will sell like hot cakes, especially in dual color version. but i hope that VW gets a bit faster regarding the battery situation. the switch to LFP, especially self made, takes far too long. there will be a lot of economic pressure from that side. if they could start with self made LFP with 230Wh/kg from Gotion next year, they could sell 80kWh net MEB batteries cheap. Speed up guys!!!!!!

I don't think VW have the infrastructure to speed up the process. All legacy Auto have that problem.

there is enough demand for 100.000 pieces per year. if they can ramp up the production and the waiting list goes down do 3 months, then they will lower the price. very simple. but at the beginning, the waiting list will easy be a year long.

Everyone cries about EV prices, but VW has already sold out their 2022 EV production, i.e. they sell them faster than they can make them. That mean's they are either priced right or too cheap.

Respekt an die Arbeiter des Werkes Hannover-Stöcken, die jeden Tag mit Präzision einen neuen ID BUZZ oder den T7 herstellen. Für mich wäre eine solche Bandarbeit nichts. Da fahre ich lieber von Montag bis Freitag bzw. Samstag mit meinem Lkw durch Deutschland. Mein Ex-Schwager stand in einem Automobilwerk ebenso am Band im 3 Schicht-System. Allerdings nicht bei VW sondern bei Mercedes in Bremen. Der hatte nach einer Zeit die Faxen dicke und kündigte dort. Der sagte immer: Wenn du dort arbeitest bist Du ein moderner Sklave.
Immerhin ein gut bezahlter!
Naja, so hat jeder unterschiedliche Vorlieben - und das ist auch gut so ! Der eine fährt lieber LKW und ist nur am WE zuhause, der andere möchte lieber jeden Abend daheim sein.. Der eine liebt es den ganzen Tag draußen an de frischen Luft als Dachdecker zu arbeiten, ein anderer will nicht bei Wind und Wetter draußen sein.

In Brazil it was affectionately called a VW Kombi and could well be made in São Bernardo do Campo with a 1.0 and 1.4 turbo Flex engine
No, it can't and won't ever be made with any ICE engine, it's a full blooded EV.
