Maybe a silly question but when you nail the timber beading around the door, did you nail into the aluminium?

Not silly, I guess it does look like we did but no, we just nailed a couple short tack nails into the mortar lines in the brick to hold it there while the Sikaflex dries

There was only about 3 that I remember cutting to release it from the timber frame
