    I love Tedx Talks and this is one of the best I have seen! As a hypnotherapist, I work with clients to remove those labels that no longer serve them. Thank you Adi for having the courage to share your story!

    Sharing right now, thank you Dr. Jaffe for opening up and being vulnerable about your experiences! Labeling and putting people into boxes is so limiting for everyone involved.

    I really enjoyed meeting you at the WATCP conference. I also am intrigued and motivated to learn more about the "myths" that I have subscribed to. I down loaded your book and will be listening to it as I can. Thanks again RaeJean

    Its my opinion your ADHD is every reason youre where you are now . People with ADHD are hugely talented and creative, the labels are cast by people who dont get the fact that we are all just different and learn differently . Its the social framework that dictates this and thats what we need to adress , lets have one school system for academics , and lets have a system for creatives aswell and boost our teenagers self esteem and promote ADHD & thinking out the box !! why are there so few entrepreneurs ? because half of the potential turns to crime and abuse at age 14 to deal with their rejection by society , thanks for everything you do .

      +Bev Sankey Actually most people with ADHD are very highly intelligent people. One of the biggest problems is that our american school system does not handle well how the ADHD brain works, or medicates it and says that is how we deal with it.

      +Jeremy Kaiser yes the kids get lost in translation so to speak... they simply shut down bc they are not speaking the same language as the teachers, schools.. they get very bored to death start getting into trouble or making trouble. it's really unnecessary that these kids end up as drop outs labeled as losers

    • @jeremykaiser5893

      i know this one quite well, i deal with it in the military, i am capable and smart enough to juggle tasks with the greatest of ease, yet if i get micromanaged or have to read between the lines, i get very very frustrated very quick. The world is simply not wired to understand how ADHD brains work at all.

    This is by far my favorite Ted talks videos I too am ADHD and I love how you speak of labels and how once you are diagnosed you are not a person your a treatment. I also love how you speak of the advantages of ADHD and how you expect success of yourself. I have watched this video several times as I find it very empowering. You look to be in your element on stage your talk was presented very well kudos to you :-)

    Why is it that people with addiction issues or other mental health conditions are not treated for this and rehabilitated bUT just thrown into jail for the problemss that arise from those addictions or mental health? This person was privileged to spend a small amount of time in jail and then be awarded rehabilitation for his addiction. There are a lot of people who go through the court system and are never helped. Who are less criminals and more in need of treatment or support or therapy.

    The label I picked was "narcissist". How you spoke, dressed, the event and I then asking the audience to label you, so that you could then prove them wrong... Well, it's all about you.
    Hey everyone, let's talk about me so that I can make you a better you!!

    • @alternativesbh

      Thanks for watching Tom and for the honest response. I don't think that's a necessarily inaccurate label, although obviously I hope that the video still served the purpose of helping others.

    He certainly branded AA as bad. He doesn't believe that healthy relationships can be built in a program that is free and used successfully by millions. Remember, he owns a treatment center. He is subjectively branding and shaming AA so he can make himself more famous and more money from treatment. I call BS.

    • @AdiJaffe
      @AdiJaffe 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      12 step programs aren’t for everyone. Clearly, our approach to addiction isn’t even putting a dent in the problem. We should WELCOME more solutions, not be afraid of them.
