I watched many videos and I can actually play a few tones but just for anyone who's complaining about their hands, it's actually not the problem. Your fingers don't need to follow the exact shape and placement as shown by all those videos. For example, for me, I had to cup by left hand under my right palm with only my left index and middle finger visible. As long as your chamber is air tight and you blow in the right direction through the right sized hole, there will be something. Also take not how hard you're blowing into the chamber and also the shape of your mouth as you're touching the knuckles. Make sure your lips are sealing them as well with the gap below your lips for the air to come back out. You can feel the vibration in in the chamber when you do get it right too.
@@halwalkermusic I was one year and 1 week when this video was released and I'm watching this right now because boredom is killing me and it still pisses me off when i can't do it till now, its been like 2 weeks now😭😭😭😭
Nice, thanks! With the video, this comment, and some trying around, I managed to produce my first whistle sound! For anyone else trying this: In the end, my problem was that I put my mouth too high up, i.e. too much of the hole was still left uncovered. Try experimenting with how much of the hole you leave open and how much of it you blow into!
If you can’t get it: 1. Check the space between your thumbs. (Too wide or too narrow) 2. Make sure there’s no air escaping (except between the thumbs) 3. Placement of the lips: place your lips loosely on the top knuckles and blow lightly DOWN into the whistle. 4. Don’t give up! Everyone’s hands are different, so you’ll have to keep making adjustments until you discover what works for you. 5. Blowing harder is not the issue. When everything is in place, blowing very lightly will be best.

I'm also playin' with squeezing and relaxing the palm to create different tones. Tbh it's pretty fun. What I understood is that taking it as if I'm playing is the best approach, since the moment you're tensed/pissed off, you won't get any clear sound. Instead if you're relaxed it all flows naturally. Gonna chart my progress here if I can. Day 1: 15 minutes got a sound, cannot find it again. Size of chamber only affects pitch, angle of air blown in is integral to sound, possibility confirmed, skill issue remains. Day 1 query: between the top half of the slit lies the index finger, perhaps resonance is done through airflow diagonally, like a reverse metal whistle? Day 2: 7 Minutes Getting faster finding the right resonance, starting to play with modulation, looking for ways to make louder, air efficient ways to make sound. Lesson learned: the thumbs only need to be parallel to each other and perpendicular to the ground, but the knuckles don't need to be lined up perfectly. Day 3. 15 minutes Got kicked out of the classroom 😂 Day 6: Cannot get stable chamber when switching pitch, however I can now find the right position for resonance in under a minute.
I tried to do this for like 2 minutes and when I turned around my kitten was just looking at me with the most cynical and unamused look any cat has ever had omg I'm dyiiinnng XD
I love how serious you are about this ...cracks me up And so generous to teach this esoteric skill to all. I am strangely sure that you can also Tuvan throat sing, play a jaw harp and make a dripping-tap noise by flicking the side of your mouth as you whistle

Day 1 query: between the top half of the slit lies the index finger, perhaps resonance is done through airflow diagonally, like a reverse metal whistle?
Day 2: 7 Minutes
Getting faster finding the right resonance, starting to play with modulation, looking for ways to make louder, air efficient ways to make sound.
Lesson learned: the thumbs only need to be parallel to each other and perpendicular to the ground, but the knuckles don't need to be lined up perfectly.
Day 3. 15 minutes
Got kicked out of the classroom 😂
Day 6: Cannot get stable chamber when switching pitch, however I can now find the right position for resonance in under a minute.
Im now an owl , great tutorial
He makes it look so easy
I tried to do this for like 2 minutes and when I turned around my kitten was just looking at me with the most cynical and unamused look any cat has ever had omg I'm dyiiinnng XD
I love how serious you are about this ...cracks me up
And so generous to teach this esoteric skill to all.
I am strangely sure that you can also Tuvan throat sing, play a jaw harp and make a dripping-tap noise by flicking the side of your mouth as you whistle
You don’t know how *_ANGRY_* I am right now
I'm gonna pass tf out
