How To Show All Tools In Inkscape

- This video is for those of you who may be using Inkscape with a lower resolution screen.You may notice that the toolbar on the lower left-hand side of your menu is being cut off, and because of that you can't access all of your tools. To fix this problem, all you have to do is pull the menu out by clicking and dragging it and the tools are then placed into multiple vertical columns, allowing you to access them.
If you're not able to pull your menu out like this then be sure to upgrade to the latest version of Inkscape here: inkscape.org/release/
Additionally, you may notice that some of your system tools are missing from the toolbar at the top of your screen. This is because of a layout change in the latest version of Inkscape that now places those tools on the right-hand side of your screen by default.
To revert back to the classic mode, all you have to do is disable Wide Screen mode by going to View and deselecting Wide Screen, and then your system tools should accessible.

I have a 21:9 36 inch and I hate the default widescreen. Layouts should be left alone by inkscape. With the caveat.. there should be an option, but don't make it the default.

Now, how can I "lock" the side toolbar? 😅
I've been working with guidelines and it is kind of annoying to expand the toolbar instead of create a guideline from the side

@@salbardguuze3049 No, but dragging from the ruler avoids hitting the resize area.
@@doctormo I know, but there is a tiny area at the very side of the ruler that is still affected by the modifier. When I drag carefully it doesn't affect, the problem appears when I act almost instinctively 😅

Thanks for the video, I upgraded to the most recent version and the selector tool is missing from the toolbar. The first tool is the node tool? Any ides how to fix this?

That wide screen mode is a windows thing, fairly certain it's not the default on linux or macos (and I have no idea why this is the case)
Can we rearrange the icons so the text icon is on top?
I accidentally move my alignment and distribution from the side panel and I can't get it back in , and not able to show both it and the gradients on the same bar like in PS
Great job. I have the opposite problem with my new 4k screen - the tools and buttons are all there, but they are really tiny. I found settings to enlarge the standard menu, but other buttons, e.g. the align and distribute menu, is still super small. Is there a way to fix that? Thank you. Your videos are amazing.
Go to preferences. There is an option - Interface. Expand it, select Toolbars. There you will find options - Toolbar icon size and Control bar icon size.
@@Someone-lw6re Thank you. That does change the icon size of the toolbar and of the control bar. It doesn't affect the icons inside the align and distribute menu, though.

I have a question I have the latest version of inkscape and when I try to delete an individual node it deletes the whole path. How do I keep It from doing that ?

@@sushantjadhav8552 you have to hit the delete key now instead of right click and select delete. Idk why they changed it .

My view, path and all the other top menu is gone after the upgrade.

It is an whatsapp issue. You can try the workaround of sending the picture to yourself through Telegram and then fowarding it to WhatsApp, it works, but it would be better if Meta fixed it oncr and for all.
