  • What is Power Apps? A low code development platform that allows you to build business applications - for mobile, web or portal - without the skills of a professional developer. There is a lot more to Power Apps than building mobile (canvas) apps on SharePoint. This video takes you through all the components of Power Apps.

    Thanks Lisa. Your videos are amazingly clear and concise and packed full of useful info. I wish I had seen some of your basic how-to's when I started out with PowerApps 9 months ago. My understanding of the whole PowerApps system is much clearer thanks to you! I'm starting to think the role of Dynamics 365 for our organisation vs a fully custom built model driven app with some canvas app or custom page elements - lots to consider. Thanks

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Barry, thanks so much and so glad you found what you were looking for. If you haven't already seen it, my demo of Dynamics 365 Sales might help you decide th-cam.com/video/h-GWDEmj3hs/w-d-xo.html. My general advice is that if you are in a Sales or Service scenario it is well worth considering the Dynamics 365 apps. They are absolutely jam packed full of features, forms, views, automations, business processes and AI that you'd never get the same value from trying to recreate yourself. If you have a very specific/basic or custom scenario that doesn't fit sales or service, then model-driven apps are likely to be the right choice.

    Lisa, thank you so much, this is a great video. For Power Apps Portals, if external clients login, do they need MS licenses also?

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, they don't need a license. That's exactly the use case for Portals - when you need external people without a license to have secure access to your dataverse data.

  • @Mrscox007

    Hi, thank you for the great video! Are you actually building a website at the same time you are doing the Canvas? Or are you adding it to your website? I am just getting started, so I am at the stage where I need both.

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Linda, the Canvas App is an app you can use on a mobile device, it isn't building a website. The experience of building it is all done in a browser (make.powerapps.com) rather than needing to download software.

    Is this platform a good fit for traditional developers?
    I have over 20 years in the business - web, mobile, SharePoint, AEM, etc.
    Would my dev skills still be useful and valuable, or would I be starting out at ground zero like a non-developer who learns this? I want to remain competitive in the job market.

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely yes. My content focuses very much on the low code experience but in real deployments there are fusion teams working together on the platform, and those teams definitely need and use people with traditional development skills. Have a look at the content from Scott Durow here on TH-cam if you want to see how someone with that kind of background works with the platform. th-cam.com/users/ScottDurow

    Same employee/associate cannot work in between the date range of the previous start date and end date
    For example
    I add project to the employee whose name is basha and start date 1-jan -2022 and end date 10-jan-2022 and i add another project to the same employee and date range should be 11-jan-2022 and end date 15-jan-2022. If I give 8-jan-2022 and 15-jan-2022 in this case I want to throw error this in the range of previous date

    What are prerequisite to learn for power apps and power automate..
    wheather SharePoint & dynamic 365 knowledge is required??? ..or else any other languages python etc...

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  ปีที่แล้ว

      No specific pre-requisites, but if you want to build canvas apps then you need a data source to build them on - the most common ones are Excel, SharePoint, SQL, Dynamics 365 (Dataverse), most people have some knowledge of one of these but you don't have to, and there are hundreds of others. Even if you don't know the data source well you can still learn to build the apps. No programming language necessary at all, it's low code.

    @LISA What is role of App dynamics in power apps?

    • @LisaCrosbie
      @LisaCrosbie  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dynamics 365 is a finished / first party app (actually a set of apps) built by Microsoft. Dynamics 365 Sales is the CRM, Dynamics 365 Customer Service is built for case management and customer service ticketing. There are also apps for Field Service and Project Service Automation. These are also considered model-driven Power Apps because it's the same platform underneath - they are just very sophisticated pre-built model driven apps.

    Why would you call a software program a technology? By this logic all videogames are "an exciting technology". Doesn't the user decide if it's exciting or not? Is powerapps a videogame? Can you create only business applications? That's ehat you're suggesting. Here's an example: "Spoons and knives are a ground-breaking technology that helps users be more efficient with their consumption of ingestible alimentation. This technology can also be used to commit a plethora of fun and inspiring actions from digging to commiting homicide". It's true but it says jack shit. You're using bad MARKETING lingo that not even marketers understand. Everything we build is a product of technology. Sorry...
