    The comparison to Illustrator or Designer is not entirely fair. The one thing unique about Inkscape is that it is natively SVG at its core. You can even switch to code view and directly edit the SVG, add variables and hooks for events like clicks and mouseovers, and switch back to design mode non-destructively. For someone working primarily with web design, that distinction is critical and worth some slowness. It’s perfect when you’re creating advanced interactive UI elements which update SVG code reactively.

      While fully understanding all you're saying, still, Inkscape IS painfully slow even on a very strong computer. Sometimes I just don't want to work with it because of how unresponsive and sluggish it is. I'd really like to see a primary focus on optimizations right now.

    Inkscape devs deserve all the praise. If they continue with these amazing features I might not need to upgrade to Affinity Designer 2 because I'll start using Inkscape full time. For now my workflow is used to Affinity Designer but in the future I might switch to Inkscape only as another FOSS toot I'm using for gamedev.

    • @simeongprince
      @simeongprince 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Well if you're doing GameDev, then Inkscape should be great for you. I use it for Graphic Design, and converting Sign Artwork to 3D in Blender for Making Sign Mockups. Also use it for Product Label designs, and mocking them up in Blender. Can't go wrong with Inkscape, even if you are producing work for print. There are workarounds for CMYK printing using other FOSS software.

      @@hipflipped Inkscape sucked hard for professional use back then. If serif was that good they would have bought canvas and not the other way around. Affinity Photo was falling behind Photoshop big time. I will certainly miss Designer but if you're collaborating in any way shape or form, good luck with that idml file export. Affinity has an inferior product, no copium around that.

    Changing the axonometric grid angle from 30 degrees to something else does not result in a "much more isometric" grid, it results in a no longer isometric grid.

    Nice, you also follow the Inkscape programs, one of the best, if not the most colorful, regardless of the open-source project, and I see no reason why every game developer does not use this program for creating sprites, but uses some programs out there, I don't know which ones, this is for you is a professional program for that, and of course, you want to export your image in an unprecedented number of formats, including .png, you can export, for example, just a simple circle from the whole page, and yes work on Linux, you must know program won crass, just like others, very rare, this is the Blender 2D and better if you believe me, thanks for reporting! Good job! Keep going!

    The color popup appearing behind the settings window is all you really need to know about inkscape tbh. No matter how cool the new features get, it’s never going to be good as a professional vector program until they fix all idiosyncrasies like that.

    idk man, until inkscape decides to implement GPU rendering I won't use it. It just feels sluggish compared to affinity designer or adobe illustrator. I used it back in 2013 on a shitty budget gaming rig and always thought it was just my PC until I upgraded to a new PC a few years back and realized it still feels the same on the new PC too. Every program I throw at it just feels good, except inkscape. It's the only "professional" graphics software I know that isn't using GPU either. I don't get how they have worked on it for so long and still never implemented GPU rendering, it's essential.
