Amira is a STUNNING, UNIQUE SINGER and PERSON. MY GOD she's AWESOOOME. Can you imagine she'd even taking it higher with her AMAZING GRACE performance at the Classics is Groot Concert. Also her O Solo Mio duet with Patrizio Buanne is totally JAW DROPPING. I,m so happy she's on this earth with us.
Both ladies were outstanding. Amira began so young at nine years old that it has been a joyful journey to watch her grow and perfect her amazing talent. My takeaway from this perfornance is that both ladies are top notch talents and professionals.
also, I admire the lady with her whose name is Corlea Botha, who is one of South Africa's top opera singers and has been helping Amira with some coaching in 0pera techniques. A lady with a great talent and a big heart.
I would really like to know if Corlea is a natural mezzo or a true soprano. I've searched and don't find anything that tells me. That she doesn't seem to have a wiki page is unfathomable. Why Not? She certainly deserves one!
@@garyguyton7373 Corlea is a great mezzo. She already did a duet with Amira at the end of Onse Vader, in Afrikaans Is Groot 2016, when they sang along with Riana, Jannie, Dozi, Dewald and Leah.
So happy you have discovered Amira. She was 13 here (16 now) with her voice really maturing. Her stunning gowns by " Bedazzled " in SA. She sang ' Nessun Dorma ' the same evening and it is incredible ! It's been said she owns the female rendition of that classic as Pavarotti does the male version. No argument here. Her ' O Mio Babbino Caro ' on stage with world famous conductor Andre Rieu performed in front of 15,000 (to a standing ovation) at a mere 10 years of age considered by many a historic performance. Over 44 million views trending a million views a month. Amira's ' Amazing Grace ' (at 13) and ' Sound of Music Medley ' (15) also worth a look. Incredible stuff. She is an absolute treasure. Enjoy. Cheers !
Amira is enchanting/ her voice can put a spell on you like no other. There is a lot more just as fabulous. Enjoy your journey. Nessim Dorma. Amazing Grace, O Sole Mio, Gabriella's Song. Ave Maria and many more comforting songs to take the worry away.
Amira is out of this world fantastic. Grabbing the towel for the tears. Great reaction. You should do though her tryout of O Mio Babbino Caro and then the Andre Reiu
she is incredible... An angel on Earth. Amira is unbelievably talented, beautifully elegant and l love that you are moved by her pure voice as much as I am.
I left out earlier that Corlea has a beautiful voice as we'll. Also, this orchestra is fantastic. There is a piece labeled Amira and Friends singing My Way. You will see all the artist singing in there style as a finale to this show. I am from the states. But from what I see is almost all the best talents including Amira, the other singers, choir, dancers, and the orchestra are all in South Africa. I know as I purchased all these shows on DVD from Amira's charity. Biggest part every one involved have so much energy
This piece is from the opera "Lakme" by Leo Delibes, and it is sung in French. The aria is slightly shortened in this performance. For reference compare with the performance by Elina Garanca and Anna Netrebko. BTW, the singers have to synchronise their vibrato to sing this. Think about that . . .
Amira's partner in the duet is Corlea Botha, a South African singer, one of Amira's childhood favorites. This is another "Classics is Groot" performance, I think the first one after her family got to South Africa from Holland. The first thing Amira did, I am given to understand, was to get in touch with Ms. Botha, and ask her to sing with her. The first time I heard this, it really surprised me, since everything I'd heard her sing up to this point was solos. I had no idea she had progressed to the point of handling the coordination involved in this duet. Silly me, it looks to me like Amira can do anything she puts her mind to. She won a couple of cross-country races in Holland, I think one before and one after she started singing. She says she really enjoys athletics. She also said, when she was nine and just getting started, that if singing didn't work out for her, she'd like to work at McDonalds Hamburgers. I'm glad she tried singing first.
Mike and Ginger. You might enjoy O Sole Mio (E di Capua) with Amira and Ben Heijnen, Amira's first public concert in the Netherlands when she was 12. This is quite amusing as they had a friendly competition to see who could hold the longest note!
Mike & Ginger. You might like some of her biographical videos, particularly those of her work and singing in South Africa. She is fluent in Afrikaans and some of her Christmas concerts in Holland include Afrikaans, including Onse Vader (Our Father) and Jerusalem.
You've opened the gates of Valhalla by reacting to an opera piece :) I wasn't aware of your former reaction yet. Thanks for this one and to Snapdragon.
To get a proper perspective of her growing talent, you would to listen to her audition in 2013 in Hollands got talent when she was 9 years old. There is a video with english sub titles. She almost blew the judges out of their seat, as well as the audience.would love to hear your reaction to that.
I love that you like Amira, at her first audition she explained why she started with classical singing. Her brother played violin on "Kingsday" in their hometown Nijmegen and she would like to sing with him. She looked up on TH-cam for different classical singers and learned singing by playing these videos time after time to learn how to sing. She had never a teacher till she won the competition. Girl's got a lovely voice! :-) Now my first brush with this tune was also via an advert, but in my case it's fine. British Airways used it over some gorgeous air-to-air footage of Concorde in one of their ads: no hard-sell, just creating a classy feel around the brand. Amazingly, it doesn't seem to be up on TH-cam anywhere.
@@MikeandGinger There was also a 'pop' version of the tune used for another BA advert where they had groups of people in red, white and blue clothes forming a giant face on the ground. That one IS on TH-cam.
Oh, Mike, Ginger, you did it again, but then, I expect nothing less from the most lovable reactions couple :). Amiras parents separated, not sure whether they are divorced yet, and they decided mom would move back to SA with the children (she is a SA citizen), to be closer to family and to make it easier for Amira to do concerts and performances. In the Netherlands labour laws are very strict, especially regarding minors, which means she could only do very, very few concerts/performances a year, and even then only during school holidays. The dresses are basically supplied by some gala dress company, just for the performances - I understand Amira would not be able to afford them otherwise :). And the dresses are only on loan for the performance .... Anyway, next would be Amazing Grace I guess - indicated where to find that in the previous Amira reaction :). Love, and warmest regards, Wim
