    I was John's (and Dave Navarro's) guitar tech with the peppers.
    I like mini doc.
    A couple things though....
    Dave Navarro wasn't really fired. He also didn't really quit. He was having some serious problems, and his time in the peppers kind of just ended.
    We were doing rehearsals for a short run to Denver and Alaska, and it was clear things were not working out. I gave Dave a ride home that day as he was in no condition to be driving. When I went back to the studio the other guys were still there. Flea said to Anthony "John says he wouldn't be opposed to coming back." Anthony said "Wouldn't be opposed?" We laughed. I asked Flea, "Can he do it?" Flea said "He seems to think so."
    That's how it went down.
    I went to work for Ozzy (Joe Holmes) for a few months while they worked with John.
    By the time I got back, John was in. I was his tech, and they started writing the Californication record.
    The rest I guess is history.

      Hey Dave! Loved the dave mails you did. Very insightful. What is your favourite John Frusciante song and were there many songs that didn't make his solo records?

  • @manuelojaime4945

    Red Hot Chilli Peapers owes everithing to John and he will always be the guy that play guitar like Hendrix but also write deep songs like cat stevens. To me John Frusciante is the greatests artist of the XXI century..... so far...

    • @annapoe4025
      @annapoe4025 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm probably a lot older than you and there is no comparison between frusciante and Hendrix, while Hendrix had talent he was also sloppy in his playing and lacked a certain discipline. John, while he's not a guitar god, he is certainly a musicle genius.... My opinion

    John is such an underrated musician. He brought pure genius stuff to RHCP and essentially made them what they are and he doesn't get enough credit for it.

    John's work on BSSM was nothing short of prodigious. He was still good from Californication on, but man, a lot of the guitar work on BSSM is just mind blowing.

    I always watch some videos about John's life, and makes me incredibly happy when I see how strong he was to overcome the addictions and the other problems he had and now he's a new person, healthly and happy with his art! I know, like many other fans, I would like to see him back with Chili Peppers, but first of all, as a fan and a guy who was totally inspired by watching John 20 years ago to start my journey as guitarrist, I want to see him healthly and happy with whatever he wants to do! Thanks for share this video!

    Hey everybody, this isn't something that I like doing on something about John himself, but if you like the old style that Frusciante had when he recorded Niandra Lades, and SFTSYH, I have just released an EP on soundcloud that I took major inspiration from him to record it with. It would very much help me greatly if some of you were to just listen to the tracks and give me a bit of feedback. I would extremely appreciate it. If not I understand, It's just that I don't know any other way to promote my music since it's a little bit different than what a lot of people listen to today.
    Thanks so much in advance. soundcloud.com/bryanlasalle/sets/existential-denomination

    One Hot Minute is a great record, it definitely has a place in their top 4 - 5 releases. Navarro’s playing was great too and his image fit the band perfectly. There is nothing on any record after stadium anywhere near as good as songs like My Friends, Aeroplane, Transcending, Falling into grace, Walkabout.. And all of those songs are better than half of songs on Stadium or By the way. It’s in my personal top 3 RHCP albums.
    I’ve always found it odd that people hate it. I think they just say that because the band personally say they hate it.. when in reality they have just said they hated that period of their lives on a personal level.

    • @LoveToShag69
      @LoveToShag69  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I agree with that. I by no means think it is a bad record, I still like it a ton but as a follow up to Blood Sugar, it critically and financially didn't follow up very well. Still some excellent songs on the album as you mentioned.

    • @runreilly
      @runreilly 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think also the bar was raised after BSSM. When that album came out so many "competitive" rock bands like Nirvana weren't on the radio yet. The difference btwn 1991 and 1995 was huge.

      He left the second time in 2009 to basically branch out and do his own thing. John has always been one to experiment with music, and the music he makes now is way outside the Chili Peppers scope. So I think he probably didn't want to struggle with creative control and made his own path.

    Two things. John you are not the center of the universe if you give out you have to take in. Second thing critical failure of one hot minute true followers know that album to be a true gem. The book Scar Tissue also says that we wrote a lot of music to that reference

Californication, Blood sugar, by the way and stadium are all better albums in my opinion. but one hot minute does get far too much hate. I LOVE that album. I was born in '87 so 'one hot minute' was the first chili's album i could actually appreciate.
