Sounds great I’m saving up and selling gear to buy a new polysynth and the Super 6 is looking a good choice for me, this video is a big help as I’m a similar player (maybe not quite as good) and want a synth I can gig with useful sounds. 👍👍👍
I don't own a Super 6, most likely never will, but I play these preset videos in the background while I clean cause I cannot get enough of the chord voicings
EXACTLY!!! I wish he would do a breakdown on his voicings and progressions. I suspect they may be half improv’d half just general musical knowledge and just his style. He can play simplest boring patch and make it sound exquisite just with the voicings!
those fx are all coming from within the board itself, they are part of the presets. The delay unit is incredible on this synth, and so is the chorus. However, a lot of the "chorus-y" sounds are actually derived from the super waves. So, you are for sure "hearing" the "actual" sounds in this demo.
Your demos are so useless because you play so amazingly that everything sounds INCREDIBLE! In all seriousness though, everything about this video is fire, the synth, the playing, and the aesthetics!
Nice presets and nice playing 👍 The way I approach synths is to never use any presets. I like to create all sounds from scratch myself. However, I love to listen to demos like these just to see what's possible to do (and then try to learn how to recreate sounds myself). Some of the sounds here are really eye(ear)opening. For example, I wouldn't have thought that the Electric Piano sound at 4:46 was played by a Super 6 unless I saw it with my own eyes.
Each unto their own based on experience, needs and wants. Personally, I love surfing presets and using those as inspiration to go off on sonic journeys.
Big, giant Super 6 fan (have owned one for a very long time, and worked with UDO directly on features) and this patch bank is superb, among the very best I have ever heard. Thanks Julian!
@@SPAZZOID100 I’d say to own a synth that you use regularly for 3 years or more, is a lot within the context of this world we live in where everybody just wants the next shiny thing.
@@SPAZZOID100 just because the synth was released “3 years” ago doesn’t mean that’s when development started. Development could’ve started 2, 3, 4, or even more years prior…
lovely warm pads, atmos, D50-type chuffy sounds, airie leads, arpeggio plucks.. but agrro unison basses and open filter saw stabs - not so much. don't think its this synths natural forte. like it isn't with any hybrid design. it's one area that really wants classic vco tech to sound convincing.
All credit to the sound design and playing here, but I had the same thought. I watched this video to recheck my feeling that these FPGA oscillators won't be keeping CEM3340s awake at night with fear of being superseded. Also think that my hybrid machines like Microwave , SQ-80, K3m, Tempest (using the samples) sound more pleasing to me than the UDO for bass applications. As you suggest, the Super 6 seems like a complement to but not a replacement for analogs (and other hybrids!)
As a owner of Super 6 myself, i fully agree!(Although tbf i do have a Rev 2 & Ub-Xa with me as well so Super 6 has been quite a complimentary addition!🙌🏻 And one i end up taking the most on vacations as a portable synth).
Sir, I have question for you, Do you actually need all that analog synths, like Prophet,UDO etc. If you have Omnisphere, I mean Omnisphere is the best plugin for synths and there is already all the sounds from Prophet,UDO, Roland Juno, Moog etc. So I mean if you have all that stuff in one Plugin why do you need all that analog hardware? I’m just confused. Is maybe the sound not enough great? Is Analog still better than Omnisphere plugin? Of is it because of CPU of your PC? @J3PO
No, you don't need a lot of different synths, and they can be a distraction from getting into a creative flow and concentrating on the music. On the other hand, there are a few of advantages to having different sound sources to use... (1) Hardware synths especially seem have their own specific interface, personality and sonic character, which can inspire ideas by interacting with that particular machine. (2) Having multiple layers of the same sound source in a mix can make it sound flat and two-dimensional. Having a combination of different synths (and synth architectures, e.g. VCO analog with wavetable or FM) can make it more 3D. (3) Having all those pieces of gear switched on will keep your studio warm in winter (admittedly, this is not an advantage in summer). (4) Spending your money on synths will stop you from wasting it on trivial things like paying off your credit card, getting further education, or funding memorable life experiences.
That super six sounds fantastico👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 I was just thinking about buying one tho I had to getme a computer 💻 I needed to upgrade I definitely would like to have one of these in my studio. PS I meant home studio.🫢 but nice demo results and hearing it just sounds classy fire above water real🫠🫠🫠🙏🙏🙏🎹🫡
Amazing sounds 👌Thanks Julian

The sound at 6:03 is magical omg 😊
Its so beutiful 😭 bro Its amazing sounds 🎉🎉
im obsessed with the 80s mall sound and melody, any way you can help me learn that?
What did you assign to the pitch bender during "Saw Chords" to give that gated effect please?
I’m buying this board I’m not waiting for my first placement
SO GOOD SOUND !! 🎹🎹🎹🎹
Great presets!
Hi Julian these presets are ok also for the desktop version i suppose, thanks
Totaly unfair. When you playing a synth. Everytime it sounds so amazing, cause of your playing ;-)

The D8 at 3:10 is the sound i love most. I call it "blue"
we need j3po moog one presets!
someday!
Yes, please!
And subsequent 37 please
How does it compare to the Prophet 6?
it's a completely different experience
the giant steps solo was too far
Man that's a lot of effects over most presets. Makes it hard to hear the actual sounds

Haha, totally. Julian 'sold' me a Nord Wave 2. He made it sound amazing but I totally didn't gel with it and sent it back 😅

Great Demo and great patches as always Julian! for DCO the Super 6 sounds extremely rich and warm!
90's TV and Kiwi Sunset was sounding a bit DX. Nice patches. Subtle soul lead was very nice!

Can I say I prefer this to the new UDO stuff? Maybe I'm partial, but I own the S6 and haven't found a compelling reason to 'upgrade.'

absolutely
¿Can you make the perfect pad for the rev2 please? thankss
Will your preset patches work for the desktop as well?
WHOa that "Hole In One" patch might make me buy this thing

Are any of these presets reliant on uploaded custom wave shapes to the Super 6?
no, the presets use all the stock wave shapes
@@j3po784 Thank you, that electric piano preset is sublime. Great music, I love the Osmose and Rhodes combo by way.
Do some presets for the polybrute
Excellent proposal. J3PO 96 presets for Polybrute. That would be great!
