The IL-2 Sturmovik was an awesome tank killer. One of the best ground attack aircraft of the war. Stalin's praise of the Il-2 was heartfelt even though left-handed. He wrote to the factory director of the plant producing the aircraft demanding production be stepped up. Stalin characterized his letter as "your last warning."

@Gérard Menvusa I think that the war came because the nazis wanted to revenge the Threaty of Versailles. They wanted a re-match.

    • @DataWaveTaGo

@Gérard Menvusa Hitler wanted "Living Room" (Lebensraum) for Germany. Germany had to import oil, food-stuffs and many metals from northern & eastern nations. Hitler also estimated that German population growth would further outstrip it's resource capacity if large areas of Russia were not captured.

How nice to listen to the sound of the engines of Russian fighters. In the 40s, for everyone, it was the sound of hope, the sound of resistance, the sound of defiance, the sound of liberation.
My favorite fighters are the Yak-3 and La-5FN. The Yak-3 is the best WW2 aircraft, everyone knows this, but you should not forget about the La-5. It was flown by such legends as Ivan Kozhedub(the most productive pilot of the Allies: 64 victories) and Alexey Maresyev, who lost both legs in battle, still returned to the helm of the plane and continued to destroy the Nazi plague until the Victory.

The Yakovlev Yak-11 (Russian: Яковлев Як-11; NATO reporting name: "Moose") is a trainer aircraft used by the Soviet Air Force and other Soviet-influenced air forces from 1947 until 1962
It is similar to the La-5, since the Yak-11 also has an air-cooled engine , and not a water one as on the Yak-1 , Yak-7b ,Yak-9, and Yak-3 lines
Due to its Yak-3 lineage, the Yak-11 has recently seen widespread popularity among warbird enthusiasts. Highly modified versions of the Yak-11 can be frequently seen at air races. About 120 Yak-11s remain in airworthy condition.

moreover, here is a single or double in-line water-cooled engine for YAK series aircraft, a star-shaped air-cooled engine, which was on the La-5 and La-7 series aircraft, is visible on the aircraft flying over, since the fighters of the USSR of the Second World War were made of aviation plywood (wood) they have not been preserved in flight condition until today, and so the role of Yak or La planes is played by replicas or converted Yak-11 aircraft, you read about this topic and then make conclusions!

    • @ubb262s
      @ubb262s 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Sure they attached it to the fuselage for the reasons you stated, but at what cost ,young inexperienced pilots were killed not by allied fighters, but landing on crude airfields, if the control surfaces were slightly damaged , landing safely was iffy, but your right two sides of the coin, problem solved though with the fw190

The Yak-9 and IL-2 were used in the Korean Conflict also (not shown here) the Po-2 biplane. The Americans used the P-51, F4U Corsair, the C-47, B-29, A-26 Invader in Korea too. The C-47 and A-26 were also used in Vietnam (and the A-26 in the Bay of Pigs operation). Old war birds with a little bit more life in them. Some old American WWII bombers were used as water and fire suppression bombers against forest and brush fires. Need more of them. Sorry for the digression. Great video.

I was very used to airplanes and was able to identify quite a few. Turns out the noise came from the Me262's of the Adolf Galland Jagdgeschwader. They wanted to down as many Allied planes before the war ended, and they did. One guy specialized on downing P51's. He downed over 100 planes. Not all P 51 of course.

The problem RAF faced at that time the STEEP DIVE made by Lauftwave pilots. Because if the RAF pilot follows that maneuver his plane would have stalled. Because the Lauftwave planes (I do not remember it's name) were using direct injection of fuel and the one used by RAF were well behind the technology.

A nice list of aircraft, but personally I think I'd go a slightly different route, but the most annoying is the constant incorrect listing of engine power like the Messerschmitt 109 or Yak-9, there were different variants of the engines for Bf-1009 but the E and later F/G versions never had as low as 1,175 hp (the like versions shown here) and the Klimov VK-107A for the Yak-9 never had so low power as 1,180 hp, and the aircraft shown here doesn't have the oil cooler under the nose which is a sure tell-tale of the Yak-9, it's another Yak-3.
The flyby of the Yak was a Lavochkin La-5/7.

Really a pretty poor, mis-labelled video containing many errors. Should be called the "10 best German and Russian Planes we could find with still-operational variants in 2019". The "Yak 3" shown diving at 2:57 isn't a WW2 Yak at all, but a plane made in 2005 with a modern high-powered radial engine and a speed nosecone made for the Reno Air Races. And of course the "Heinkel 111" shown at 5:24 is actually a Spanish, Merlin-Powered CASA 2.111B.

MiG-3 had proven to be very efficient in the protection of the sky of Moscow. German bombers
were afraid to fly at low altitudes due to heavy antiaircraft protection of the city. They dropped their bombs from the high altitudes, where MiG-3 was a king. That is partially why Germans were unable to seriously harm the infrastructure of Moscow even being just 15 miles away from the gates of the city.
