This was the music I had for my wedding processional. Many years later two of my daughters learnt to play Canon on D on the piano and I could never get enough of hearing them play it. However, this performance was magnificent. You brought out all the majesty of the organ and gave a depth to this music that was just outstanding,

A controlled, almost subdued, sober rendition, without fioritura. Beautiful !

Thanks for the mention Ben, and well played. I gave a recital on this wonderful organ a few years ago in Tim Hone's time there. It was a great experience and I'd love to go back if I ever have time! Keep up the great playing!

Indeed a masterpiece. But even more, a masterpiece of an organ and a masterful, outstanding playing.

Go and get um Ben,the only one playing this with proper tempo feeling and emotion.Proof an organ does not need about 10 keyboards and millions stops to sound great.only skill and knowledge.Respect.

Canon in D, Pachelbel effects me so deeply and emotionally I often play it on a loop for 30-60 minutes. It never grows old, reduces it's impact, or leaves me yearning for something else. Your performance once again hit that same level.

Same - it’s one of those pieces that taps straight into the soul. I can’t explain it very well but it takes me beyond myself somehow. It’s transcendent yet so simple.

Thanks for playing this wonderful canon at tempos which enable the listeners to fully appreciate the tapestry of the interwoven parts. Also great registrations.

Dear Ben, I admire you a lot. Thanks for the trouble you take to show us those lovely village churches and their organ in the beautiful and relaxing southern English countryside. I am a parish organist in N. Italy and find your episodes delightful. Carry on and on. What you do is really inspiring. I'd also like to congratulate you on your pronunciation: I find it so clear and accentless, easy to understand. Ben, you are simply great! I watch you every day. Thank you very much indeed!

There seems to be a warmth in the music played in the village churches that seems to be missing in the large organs played by Diane B. and many other organists. I like the way Ben plays those organs and the way they sound.

Why I like to listen to Ben playing is partly his registration - the wise use of the stops; but also his relatively slow tempi. ( Without dragging.) Some organists play too fast.

Ben, you are anointed by the Spirit in using God's universal language, Music, to speak to us. I've listened to many renditions/offerings of Canon in D ... many have moved me, but none stir within such a reverence and elicit such joy as I hear and watch God speak so profoundly through you in what is so obvious an act of worship at that console. You are gifted in such a multitude of ways that you could lead retreats and excursions involving your musical gifts, reflective personality, and palpable spirituality.

Hello Ben, How wonderful it is to follow your vlogs and see the old churches. I would like to join you, but I live in the Netherlands. Now I see a somewhat older vlog, where you play the Canon by Pachebell. What a beautiful piece of music! I once played it as an enthusiastic amateur in a recorder group. The music was converted to play polyphonically. I played the soprano part, it was a challenge!
Maybe I will watch more vlogs. They radiate peace and you also learn a lot!
Good luck, greetings from Remke 🎼🎵🎶

this organ has a magnificent sound, there are not many large organs with the sets of 8' trumpet and 16' Bombarde reeds which sound perfectly in tune

You do a great job with Pachelbel - How about "The Great Gate at Kiev" from Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition". I would think that it might lend itself to what a good organist could do.

The Largo version that's become popular nowadays.... Apparently, the lack of tempo notes on the manuscripts at time defaulted to a faster moderato.
