St Mary’s church is part of the parish of Redlynch, situated in the adjoining village of Lover, here in Wiltshire. It just so happens to have a fantastic pipe organ...
Good old wedding music evokes so many memories of sitting calm and expectant.
This is the most uplifting channel and its host utterly charming. Yes that is you Ben.
Thank you!
Love Love Love what you bring to us Ben. Just priceless. Thank you!
Totally agree 👏🎹🎶👍
When I saw all those hearts displayed on the railings outside the Church, I immediately thought of the Beatles Song "All you need is Love"!
Thank you, Ben. Lets hope we can get your subscriber number up! Village Churches - the heart of English Villages.....
Love divine, all loves excelling. Sublime music about love and marriage by Mendelssohn, Widor and Pachelbel, played on a superb organ. As mighty oaks grow from small acorns, since Ben’s journey to Alvediston last summer, his journeys have grown increasingly entrancing with music, poetry and brilliant photography.
Watched this video through tears. Miss playing so much-- offering your heart and soul and all your efforts in the praise and worship of Our Lord God. Love your channel-- your wonderful, timeless views of these often ancient, always beautiful and interesting churches and villages and their surrounding gorgeous, bucolic countryside. Keep going Ben! and the icing on the cake-- getting to hear your beautiful, heartfelt playing and your insightful commentary filled with great love for it all.
Finally, at last. Someone who plays the Widor Tocatta at a beautiful tempo. So many organists play it like they're going to a horse race.
The Toccata was brilliant Ben, there is magic in your fingers!!
Do you ever have villagers wander in to see who is playing their organ so beautifully?
Our family has fallen in love with you and your videos. You spread much beauty and knowledge in this difficult world. Thank you.
Well said Amen and Amen
I trust the ‘ love ‘ words belong to the love between a man and a woman ?
You bring decency and joy to an often indecent world. Heartfelt gratitude, my friend. Thank you.
The wedding march played on the organ is one of my favourite pieces. as a wedding photographer, I am always sad how few people choose to use the organ in the church when they get married! Love this SO much!
It was such a joy to have an organist at our daughter’s 2022 wedding. ‘The Prince of Denmark’s March’ and ‘Widor’s Toccata’ sounded magnificent!
I'm Episcopalian in the US and always was told the wedding march isn't usually played in the church because it was written not to be taken seriously, and wasn't intended for a church, honestly I haven't heard it since the 1960s
@@califdad4 i believe that is "The Bridal Chorus from Richard Wagner's opera Lohengrin", i wouldn't say it wasn't "serious", but that it was music for the Opera and somehow found its way in actual weddings; unlike many songs that were composed for actual liturgy.

Hi Ben, Twenty years ago when I married my husband, my friend Jean Claude who was the parish organist, played this piece and Ave Maria at our weeding ceremony in our parish church here in Montreal.
When I was a child I came across widor and was told it was the hardest thing to play on an organ - still my favourite 👍 then you played pachebel which was my mothers choice at her funeral and brought a tear to my eye - bless you
Your music, your choice of hymns stirs my heart with real joy and praise. Thank you!
This is a beautiful organ and beautifully played. Just an aside -- it was welcoming to hear the birds singing at the beginning-- winter is soon coming to a close.
Totally agree.
Sitting in Coombes Church, West Sussex, you can hear birds, sheep, and cattle, which greatly adds to the wonderful, calm atmosphere inside the ancient downland chapel 🐦⬛🪺🪶🐏🐂🐮🐄😰
I love watching your videos. You, together with your trolley, visit many beautiful, rural churches and chapels. With your musical skills you bring the old organs back to life ❤🛐🎹🎶
That has to be THE best Ive ever heard Blainwern and Pachelbel's canon played, and on a superb organ in super accoustics!
I am glad I found your videos. They bring me joy each time I watch. Thank you for this labor of love for you and your fans. Seeing these beautiful historic churches and their organs is a delightful armchair way of traveling where I can no longer go . FromColumbudps Ohiot tothe UK. I SEND you love, Ben. I hope you can come to play our two organs at First Congregational Church someday soon. I have suggested that you be added to our annual concert season sometime soon. I would love to meet you after watching so many of your videos. You can checkout the videos of our a Music Minister and organist, Joshua Stafford. I believe you and Josh would enjoy meeting and perhaps playing for each other or even playing our two organs together which has been done a few times in the past.
Another fabulous and enlightening video. Ben is like an extension of the the late and great Sir John Betjeman, keeping our history and traditions awakened.
You have hit the nail precisely on the head.
As ever quite lovely dear Ben. I live in Europe now, and do miss the lovely churches and hymns of England. Your TH-cam videos are a real tonic. Good luck with the beard!,, Do not let it grow wild, but trim it properly when it is grown! Your love of England warms my poor old expatriate heart. Bless you.
Such a beautiful tone from that organ.
That is indeed a beautiful building and a delightful organ!
So lovely Ben thank you so much. Absolutely love Pachelbel's Canon in D! 🙏❤️🙋🏴🇨🇮👌
Much love and gratitude. 🩷
You've proved it beyond doubt, Ben - it's the Diapasons that make an incredible instrument! Not a single reed stop! Best Widor I ever heard, even with just the coupled pedals!
Just by way of information, as is my usual contribution - sadly, the name 'Lover' (and it's pronunciation) originates from a typo spelling of 'Lower' Redlynch in 1876, when it became a separate parish (viewers may note that the church is still called 'St Mary's, Redlynch' - not Lover). More sadly, this sweet Wiltshire village typifies so many English villages - the village school (founded in 1839) closed in 2006; the Post Office (that became famous worldwide for it's Valentine's Day date-stamp) closed in 2008; the village shop closed; and so did the Pub. But the good news is that the community have stepped up - the parish council took over the school grounds (which are used for an annual Country Fayre, amongst other events; and the whole community raised the money to buy (and run) the school buildings. These are used now for the annual 'pop-up post office' that has given new life to 'The Most Romantic Village in the World' - and the celebration of Love in the village church. Michael x
Alright my Lover.
😄😄😄😄 @@joschmoyo4532
Thank you for this wonderful information!
My pleasure, Joy - I think that it is wonderful that Ben is bringing these Wiltshire villages into the spotlight, with his very special talents. Michael x @@joyhartnett2624
Thank you Ben for this video that today shows us a beautiful church of good quality. I think the organ sounds very good and of a good size. Thank you for your contribution to culture. Greetings from the east of the Kingdom of Spain.
You really deserve a million subscribers, Ben! Keep up the good work.
As always I am inspired and touched by your presentations and music making. Please continue your wonderful work. In these dark times your work uplifts us.
Once more, superb mastery of your musicality on the church organ. A sincere pleasure to watch and listen.
Another First Class Performance From A True Professional.
A Real Treasure
Blessings And Thanks From Scotland
A Perfect End To Sunday
As a Welsh native... delighted to hear Blaenwern. Such a gorgeous tune :)
One of my favourites of all your videos so far, wonderful and exquisite. Thank you.
Always happy to see you post a new video. I am a retired elementary school music teacher in the Midwest region of the U.S. I have shared your channel with my musician friends and am hoping you can gain some more subscribers. Also making a small donation. Best wishes to you!
The Canon in D has bought tears to my eyes. Thank you.
Hi Ben,
I know these churches can be cold, but a beard?
Steady now, you'll have all your parishioners and YT viewers fainting.
Love_ly church, love_ly organ, all very fitting.
Look up some earlier videos. He has a beard in some.
Thank you. I actually liked your rendition of the Widor fragment on this organ better than some recordings I've heard from much larger and more impressive organs. It had a clarity of lines that are sometimes blurred out with a huge organ in a big cathedral.
I don't think I have heard a more beautiful playing/sounding of P's Cannon...thank you!
What a delightful light & joyful excerpt of Vidor... like a perfect Victoria sponge... when so often it's played as a suet pudding. I like your Idea of a recital there.
Thinking of Lover... reminded me of Bist Du Bei Mir which we chose for our wedding entrance Mar 3rd - 51years ago.... except the organist played the boring bit (& not the lovely slow march) which she murdered on a badly played early electronic organ. Only later found out it was a funeral piece🤣. Thanks for another super Video.
Another wonderful armchair trip to such a pretty church filled with beautiful music 🎶 a thousand thanks 17:53
Many thanks Ben for the visit to the church at Lover. A splendid instrument indeed, beautifully played!
I cried all the way through Pachelbel. You played it beautifully.
Brilliant church and music .
It's so easy to love these videos, they offer so much. I noticed Ben played Tocatta by ear without music, which was pretty cool. I wonder if Billy is the same brother in an aforementioned row boat incident in a previous video? If so, I hope his organ pumping skills out shine his rowing skills! Can't wait to see what's next!
How gorgeous to hear Pachelbel Canon at the right tempo - so evocative and so right for the organ and the church. Beautiful x
Commented too early. What an amazing version of the Pachelbel.
Simply beautiful. Thank you Ben.
Thats a lovely sounding instrument. The Victorian's had a great wealth of craftsmanship to draw on in a time when quality woodwork was understood and appreciated. That's a well made consul. Pucker job.
Thanks Ben. Love the channel. Organ builder is also a poor staff to lean on but there is dignity in savouring beauty. Chin up.
Ben, I only wish I had your talent! (And head of hair😁👍)
Glorious.
Keep up the good work
It's a little known fact that in addition to be a composer , Pachebel was also a Military Engineer. There is another Pachebel's Cannon...and in keeping with his other work...the Cannon came with only eight Cannon balls, which ad to be used over and over and over.
Once again I am in awe not only of the amazing church but also the glorious music u and those wonderful "ole" organs produce. Again THANK YOU, EVER SO MUCH!!!❤
🎉Beautiful ....
Thank you from South afrika.
Love your videos mate. You're a gem. I'm sure I have seen you with a beard before.
I absolutely LOVED the music you chose for this video. As a professional soprano (church and elsewhere) I’ve heard Canon in D a myriad of times, and usually it’s very predictable in the variations that are played, but your take on the song was delightful and beautiful. ❤
I love the air of expectation you always give me Ben, you’re very good at speaking & building up to your performance before delivering with great organ playing! You have a super clear voice which needs using to best advantage! The beard will suit you I’m sure, & keep you warm! All best, John in Monmouth 🏴
Thankyou,Mr.Ben,I love yr playing very much,rm India.
Thanks for another great video Ben. I’d love to see you visit St Margaret’s in Wellow, Romsey - a church dating back to 1215 and the burial place of Florence Nightingale.
You can never go wrong with the magnificent Canon in D! Such a beautiful rendition on a lovely organ. Thank you for bringing us such wonderful music each week.
Here in the US..(Lutheran church) we use the tune Hyfrydol for Love Divine All….. I enjoy when you play the hymns
I hope the beard will be temporary but it's your choice.
Thanks for another brilliant video. Your enthusiasm is so infectious.
Bens sensitive unhurried playing compliments the acoustics of these old English village churches so well. Truly masterful!
Outstanding, as always! Thanks.
Wonderful organist and a delightful man!
What a lovely church I look forward to your visit with the Vicker!
Because you command me, I shall do as you request.
This is fast becoming one of my favorite channels. Yes, I have subscribed. I'm going to recommend it to friends. Thank you so much for showing the churches and beautiful countryside. I'll likely never visit so this is the next best thing. God's blessings on you, Ben.
Love all of your videos. Keep up the good work. I appreciate you sharing your talent and all of these beautiful locations. 🧔🏻👍🏻
Thanks Ben!🙂
Shockingly moving…loverly…
Another beautiful piece! Well done !
My absolutely favorite piece of organ music! Thank you for selecting and so beautifully playing it.
Perfect Tempo on that Widor Toccada! Awesome! Bravo!🇺🇸
Thank you and God bless❤
Ben, Thank you for these videos! Its fantastic to tour these village churches and hear you play the organs.
Another excellent video. Keep it up you are unique.
You played Widor’s Toccata - from Symphony #5 in F!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
👑👑👑👑👑👑👑👑
I have enjoyed listening to this piece for many years!!!!!!
The stain glass reminds me of my childhood church in Brooklyn. It's also Victorian built in 1870 in a Gothic revival style.
Wonderful, Ben. Thank you so much!
Thank you you Ben for your wonderful videos keep it up 👵🏻❤️
Reaching new heights in music and commentary.
The canon was my exam piece (I hear it in my sleep.. None can fool me)- but you did also well :o)
Thanks
Thank you again for a wonderful tour of the organ!
Always such joy….thx, Peace, Rob
I so enjoyed “Love Divine All Loves Excelling”. You could do a channel devoted to your hymns alone. Just lovely.
Love everything about your videos...Thank You!!!
Beautiful performance. I do very much enjoy listening to your playing.
We don't have many pipe organs in America, so you don't get to hear them often in person. Your videos are the next best thing.
I have recommended this channel to several friends. It's a very happy place. :-)
Brilliant as usual.Thanks ❤
I love it Ben it’s awesome
I’ve heard Diane Bish play this so often.
Perfect in every way. Good job 👍
Not sure about the beard Ben. We won't see that lovely cheeky face, complete with dimples!😊
I can’t believe how many lovely comments have been made. Ben is obviously an international musical superstar 🎹🥳🪩✨😉
Fantastic! We are thankful for your videos, they are such an encouragement.
Love the Pre-Raphaelite panels either side of the organ.
Hello Ben. Just donated another £ 5. You bring me joy with your erudition, scholarship and musical talent. Cheers, Gord Richardson in Winnipeg Canada.
Enjoyed it all but especially your first piece!
