Maniacal laughter... 🤣🤣Sweetie, you have NO idea the genres, the range, the versatility that Linda can cover. Your favorite Linda Ronstadt song will change...and change...and change, if you decide to continue the Linda Ronstadt rabbit hole. Really appreciated your reaction. Please continue to check out Linda. I have too many favorites to suggest. So, I'll just trust that your other subscribers will come through.
Yes, the "Midnight Special" version of "You're No Good" is amazing. The band was HOT, and the backing singers were awesome. Most impressive is to see Linda Ronstadt singing LIVE, belting out this song, and adding an extra bit of that beautiful nasty growl to her voice. A must see video! Another great song by Linda is "Tumbling Dice", her most rockin song, ( with great Live versions). Also great is her version of The Eagles "Desperado", and Warren Zevon's great song "Mohammed's Radio".
Linda recorded another song when I was a teenager that I really like to.. Different Drum was written by Mike Ñesmith in 1964 and Linda fell in love with it and recorded it and made it a big hit❤
i was fortunate to see ms ronstadt several times. all concerts with vocal perfection, surrounded by excellent musicians. listen to as much as you can. she is great.
Try Linda's version of Desparado. It was an original Eagles song that she covered and took to the top of the charts. Also, watch the live version of You're No Good from the Midnight Special for amazing background vocals.
I don’t like the midnight special version, with those two annoying back up singers. Why does everyone do that specific performance? There’s so many other live versions
@evanhughes1510 I specifically said this version because of his comments complimenting the backup singers. He was impressed by their vocal abilities and this version really lets them shine.
Each new song you hear from her will become a new favorite, because her songs are all so good, and diverse. Do yourself a favor and watch the 2019 documentary on her life/career called “The Sound of My Voice”
Back in the USA with Chuck Berry live is great! Poor Poor Pitiful Me,Different Drum,It's So Easy, and so many more! You can't go wrong with any of her music!
Different Drum is still the first song I think of when I think of Linda Ronstadt. You might want to check out her version of "I Will Always Love You", which clearly influenced Whitney Huston's.
The drummer is actually the guitarist (and keyboardist) Andrew Gold who arranged the song that was played differently live but they struggled to record that version in the studio...Gold played all instruments except bass and it was her only #1 song...
This is my favorite Linda Ronstadt song, mainly because it's rock. I love her rock songs the best. Check out the live version of this from the Midnight Special.
Linda was very versatile, but she made great covers of other people's songs! She covered Smokey Robinson's "Tracks of my Tears" and Eagle's "Desperado" both songs you should review as well 🙂
The California Rockers from the early Seventies all partied together, and played together and had the same session musicians on their albums (Linda Ronstadt, Eagles, Jackson Browne) and sometimes Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Nicks, Tom Petty, etc. in an area called Coldwater Canyon and Simi Valley. Most of them were friends and collaborators. And the Eagles got their big break from Kenny Rogers. CSNY, Poco, Buffalo Springfield also have overlapping members and friends and recording buddies.
If you want to see Linda leave her soul on stage, listen to “Down so Low” (live version) and also I think you’d like “Someone to Lay Down Beside me”(live). You need to watch her live versions, so you can see how effortless she reaches those notes - especially “Desperado.”
Linda is one of the few artists that are as good (or better) live as they are in studio. Imho. Desperado Somebody to lay down beside me Tracks of my tears (motown) Willin' (prefer the live) So many more
I think it is better live. This came out my sophomore year in HS and I became a huge fan (even had a crush). If you want an idea of how versatile she is listen to "Poor Wandering One" from the Pirates of Penzance (nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical ) La Charreada from Canciones de mi Padre ( won Grammy for Best mexican-American Performance), "After the Gold Rush" from Trio ll with Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton, (won the Grammy for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals in 2000). Her version of Tumbling Dice" out rocks the Rolling Stones IMHO, and "What's New" with the Nelson Ridder Orchestra - from the Great American Songbook. 5 different genres of music "Poor Wandering One" - Light Opera "La Charreada" - Mexican "After the Gold Rush" - Folk/Country "Tumbling Dice"" - Rock "What's New" - Big Band doing standards Excellent on all cases
Michael Gene Botts (December 8, 1944 - December 9, 2005) was an American drummer, best known for his work with 1970s soft rock band Bread, and as a session musician. During his career, he recorded with Linda Ronstadt, Karla Bonoff, Andrew Gold, Olivia Newton-John, Peter Cetera, Anne Murray, Warren Zevon and Dan Fogelberg, among many others.
As you have noticed, Linda is versatile. Her Spanish language music, and American Songbook, think 1940's big band, shows her fidelity to a style. Her joint projects with Dolly Parton, and Emmylou Harris shows her ability to sing with other great singers and the purity of her voice when not having to compete with a loud rock band. The number of great singers she has had duets with is amazing. She had the power to overshadow them but never did. She sang with them to present a balanced vocals.
I have recently come to the conclusion that she had a talent that might be even better than her voice. It's her talent for the production of music. She had a eye/ear for talent in others and new exactly how to arrange it, what instruments to use and who to play it. One example of that talent is that when two of her band members told her that they wanted to form their own band, she introduced them to two other guys, gave them a place in her home to practice and so the EAGLES were born. Desperado and Willing are my two favorites from her.
"I Don't Know Much", her duet with Aaron Neville is a gentle and sweet romantic love song. "What's New" is an Old-time Broadway musical song, "Different Drum" is a sad pop song from the sixties, "When Will I Be Loved" is similar to You're No Good. And she did plenty of Country songs in the Seventies. Later, she did a Spanish language album. Incredibly versatile, Yes!
I read that Willie Nelson said there are 2 types of men, those who love Linda and those who have never heard her! When Linda took hold of a song, she never let go! ✌️💖🌹
When given the choice, you should always go for the live performance. As others have said, the midnight special performance is really good but there is also a live concert version that is amazing, even the performance in the men's prison is good despite the fact that she and the band look terrified . . . Can't think why . . . Glad you're enjoying the rabbit hole of talent she has. BTW, your favourite LR song will change on a regular basis. 😂
You should hear her Rolling Stone's version of Tumblin Dice. Keith Richards said that Mick said that song was now Linda's. High praise from Mick Jagger.
You wondered what guitar type instrument she used in Blue Bayou... it's a Hawaiian Guitar.. my dad owned a music store in the late 1950s.. my brother learned to play one. Common back then. 😊 Probably learned this before my post.
"You're No Good" is a song written by Clint Ballard Jr., first performed by Dee Dee Warwick for Jubilee Records in 1963 with production by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller. Linda Ronstadt is responsible for getting The Eagles together. Several of the band members of The Eagles were Linda's back up band. If you haven't heard The Eagles they should not be missed.
Don’t just download this one song to your phone, download the entire the album heart like a wheel. The whole album is amazing, and it is the album that put her into superstardom
This is my favorite by Linda. I was a teen when it came out and this guy broke up with me right about the same time. The next time I saw him I sang it to him. He was no good!
Consider checking out Carole King sometime. She's the one who wrote a song made famous by Aretha Franklin, (you make me feel like a) Natural woman. She can sing and write. Her album, Tapestry, doesn't have a bad song on it. I suggest starting with "it's too late," it's another breakup song
For Female vocalists check out the band Heart. "These Dreams", "Barracuda", "All I Want to do is make love to you", "Alone". "Magic Man". Also, Pat Benatar - "Love is Battlefield", "HeartBreaker", " Shadows of the Night"
Long long time is so brilliant and glad you love it so.. perhaps the saddest song ever.. your no good just begins to show her voice and versatility ! She tried opera on broadway after she grew tired of packing arenas throughout the world, and wow’d the cast as nd audience and critics/ experts
please listen to "When Will I Be Loved?" , "Silver Threads and Golden Needles", "Poor Poor Pitiful Me" and "I Can't Help it if I'm Still in Love With You"
Hw about “What’s New” when she did the American Classics albums and had the learn how to sing differently like the women in the 40’s and 50’s. She said it was a challenge but not to hard for the master Linda
Those 3 LR songs are NOTHING compared to the variety you have YET to explore! You will love everything she does…. She can to very traditional folk songs to sexy hard rock! …with some Spanish music and old fashioned Nelson Riddle (1940s style of music.) LR never disappoints!!
Great live concert version, with extended instrumental sections : th-cam.com/video/_bj_32QeAaU/w-d-xo.html. You might want to do another reaction to it.
As he covered everything, all genres.. blue bayou was Roy Orbison, she did stones, Neil young , eagles, Elvis Costello , temptations, better than the original legendary performances
Linda Ronstadt is the greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation.
Easily. No question. Hands down.
Listen to some of the live versions. There's a reason she was the first woman to pack STADIUMS for multiple shows.
*PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to her live performance of "La Charreada." I GUARANTEE you will be BLOWN AWAY by her versatility and her voice!*

That's funny,,,, there is always "one more" on the list,,,,,@@mikefinity7129
I love the Midnight Special performance!
That whole album is great!
Linda recorded another song when I was a teenager that I really like to..
Different Drum was written by Mike Ñesmith in 1964 and Linda fell in love with it and recorded it and made it a big hit❤
Wait until you get to her duets, her mariachi music, her operettas, her big band, etc.
Man, you got that right!
*La Charreada!* ❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉
My favorite Linda Ronstadt song is whichever one I'm listening to at any given moment.
Her cover of Desperado is beautiful
Man Linda did a bunch of songs. You haven’t scratched the surface.
Linda Ronstadt
Tumbling Dice
Heatwave
This was a mad housewife's anthem for a while! LOL She was so good back in the day!
Linda songs I suggest - It's So Easy, Hurt So Bad, Back In The USA, Silver Threads And Golden Needles, Different Drum
i was fortunate to see ms ronstadt several times. all concerts with vocal perfection, surrounded by excellent musicians. listen to as much as you can. she is great.
I strongly recommend that you react to her live performances. She’s amazing in person. Her catalogue is huge and diverse. Enjoy the journey. 🌺✌️

Yes, it's good, but I have a real problem with anyone hearing her version BEFORE hearing the Eagles' original version!
@@bmer42 who’s comments complimenting the backup singers? Who are you talking about
@@evanhughes1510 "He" is the reactor/host of the channel.

A fellow Arizonian, she is a treasure. 🎤🎶🫶
Actually this hit #1 on the country charts. But if you want Motown, check out her cover of the song "Heatwave".
The drummer is actually the guitarist (and keyboardist) Andrew Gold who arranged the song that was played differently live but they struggled to record that version in the studio...Gold played all instruments except bass and it was her only #1 song...
One of my all time favorites! Many a night she sang me to sleep while I was serving overseas in the Air Force 1967-1971.
Always in my ❤
The girl had soul. I've been listening to her for a few decades now and its still fresh and exciting to listen to. She was a-may-zing!!
I good listen is her greatest hits cd her voice is amazing
Linda Ronstadt, You're no good, live on The Midnight Special
Watch the live version
You need to watch her live performances. She did more than one version of "You're No Good".
Yeah, you really need to hear her Spanish songs. Amazing!
According to Wikipedia's summary of the album "Heart Like a Wheel", Clydie King and Sherlie Matthews sang the back-up vocals on this track.
They're there singing along with Linda Ronstadt when she performed this song on Midnight Special.
She sing Spanish Mariachi, light opera, u name it
Watch her sing this on the Midnight Special!!!
This is my favorite Linda Ronstadt song, mainly because it's rock. I love her rock songs the best. Check out the live version of this from the Midnight Special.
Speaking of Motown, give a listen to “Ooh, Baby, Baby” written by Smokey Robinson and Pete Moore.
THIS!
Linda was very versatile, but she made great covers of other people's songs! She covered Smokey Robinson's "Tracks of my Tears" and Eagle's "Desperado" both songs you should review as well 🙂
U should see this song live from one of her concerts

This is a cover of a Dee Dee Warwick song. Linda loves all types of music and is a gifted interpreter. Listen to "I Knew You When"
❤❤❤
You may want to dive into Lieber & Stoller and explore their catalog. They wrote for so many great artists and all of that music is wonderful.
Need to do HEATWAVE LIVE by Linda Ronstadt !!!
Oh man... do yourself a big favor and check out her performance of this song on The Midnight Special.
Linda is one of the few artists that are as good (or better) live as they are in studio. Imho.
Desperado
Somebody to lay down beside me
Tracks of my tears (motown)
Willin' (prefer the live)
So many more
Do Faithless Love from that sane album that she sings with JD Souther
I think it is better live. This came out my sophomore year in HS and I became a huge fan (even had a crush). Linda is unique across the genres.
Mike Nesmith was part of the group The Monkees...
Her auto bio is great - she fought the powers that be in her labels to sing what she wanted. Excellent read

If you want soulful/sultry song: “I’ll be Your Baby Tonight”
live with Don Everly is very good
This is my all time favorite song of any time or genre. And I listen to everything from from Beethoven to Tom McDonald. I was only 7 when this hit #1
I had a breakup with a really, really bad, lying, cheating boyfriend back in 1974, and this was my song. You can imagine how loud I blasted it!!
Welcome to the most wonderful voice in the world. If you want your socks blown off listen to down so low. She shows off a bit.
You should hear her Rolling Stone's version of Tumblin Dice. Keith Richards said that Mick said that song was now Linda's. High praise from Mick Jagger.

Check out a couple more great Linda tunes "I Cant Let Go'" and "Easy For You To Say".
No song may not sound the same, but you always who it is! 😁
Please, please do her mariachi music, step out you box, again! The Van Halen version of this song kills too!
You absolutely need to see her live version on a show called “midnight special“. It’s even better than this studio recording.
Check her out doing this song on Burt Sugarman's Midnight Special. Its a whole other thing.
This is my favorite by Linda. I was a teen when it came out and this guy broke up with me right about the same time. The next time I saw him I sang it to him. He was no good!
now you can listen to ""You're No Good "" from VAN HALEN
I like Betty Everett’s version as well!

I'm gonna vote for her cover of Desperado (The Eagles)... try that one next... but this one is my fave!
❤
Next up should be "Desperado."

She is singing about t rump
You've got good taste.

I love her rock songs, she's great. Of course, she's great in every song, but....
When Will I Be Loved
La Charreda will blow you right out your seat.
If someone ask you what artist to listen to , who would tell them.
Cry Like a Rainstorm and check out Duets with Aaron Neville: I don't know much, All My Life.
Dude you hit it right on the head when you said no song sounds the same, you're not even close to the Mexican side yet or opera or country, etc
Heart Like a Wheel, Different Drum are two to try. She changes the pronouns in Different Drum and makes it a better song, more unexpected.
So many great singers in the past. Where are the great voices today? Or the songs destined to be classics? Most are forgettable.
