    After Mick Jagger heard Linda's version, he said, "This song is her's now." She owned it!!! "Just One Look," "Long, Long, Time," "Desperado" & play some of her Mexican songs. Just incredible voice as she could sing anything!

She was known to have a clean cut reputation. She had also worked with alot of talented male band members .The Eagles where all in her band in the beginning. All the men loved her, she has always kept a very good reputation in the business.

    Her studio recording of this song was included on her "Simple Dreams" album (Probably my personal favorite of all her albums!). I bought the LP when it came out for the song, "Blue Bayou" but found it had all sorts of treasures like "Tumbling Dice" among other excellent songs! (Carmelita, I Never Will Marry, Poor, Poor, Pitiful Me, etc). And yes, like you Harri, Linda's version was the first time I was able to actually hear what the lyrics were saying!

  • @pushpak
    @pushpak 3 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    3:45 Linda didn't change the lyrics of the covers she did. I hope you go deeper into her music; brilliant singer; most people just do 'Blue Bayou' and 'You're No Good' and I've tried to get other Reactors to react to this, to no avail. You should watch the documentary 'Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice' on your own time. Her influence in music is beyond being a great singer. Linda could sing anything and did.

    Some of Mick’s most interesting lyrics, and one of their finest offerings. Linda was NEVER a lazy vocalist or artist, either in studio or live, and that’s a fact. She was driven to get it right always. Notice how she sang every single note as The Stones recorded it. Harri, she didn’t like changing the gender lyrics in her covers either, simply because she always tried to stay true to the original artist’s intent as recorded. Saw this Tour and will never lose the admiration I hold for her. She’s a pro’s pro, and there won’t be anyone else like her again. As you can see she could throw that remarkably powerful, pitch perfect voice of hers to the back of any venue she performed in. A living legend who turns 78 in about 3 months… 🎂🍻Cheers!

They also had her record one line of dialogue for the movie, thanking one of the movie's characters for broadcasting that concert live, which is a fairly huge plot point for the first half of the movie

    Hi Mr. Harri, Ms. Linda is a great singer, my opinion; she has a Kennedy Award, others opinion, You know.. U should
    review "Long Long Time" & Blue Bayou" & 'Ooh Baby Baby" & "When Will I Be Loved".. Ms. Linda did an album with
    Nelson Riddle and the Nelson Riddle Orchestra which I like, it is Show Tunes.. ♠W.G.

    Linda was on 🔥🔥🔥 🔥. Big fan of hers since she was in the Stone Poneys. Linda & Dusty Springfield were noted for doing covers as good or better than the original. Linda did an awesome cover of Heat Wave, sung a duet with Smokey OOO Baby, shes the best!

    I was just listening to this in my car on Friday and was reminded of how great Linda's version was. Thanks so much for reacting to this Harri! - cheers from Canada.

    When the Stones played Tuscon, Arizona in 1978, they invited Linda Ronstadt up on stage to sing this song with them. Someone posted a bootleg of their performance to YT, but the audio quality is poor. At any rate, you make it sound like she's dead. She's not, she's just retired. And while she no longer sings, she has not lost her voice. She turned 75 this year and she's still as feisty as ever.

      @@pauldover1403 That was the initial diagnosis, but she actually has Progressive supranuclear palsy which is often mistaken for Parkinson's. Either way, the loss of her voice is a tragedy.
