Oreck Orbiter Pad Driver Hack And More Useful Tools!!!

- In this video we show a simple modification you can do to your Oreck Orbiter pad driver to make it more useful for running floor pads, and other attachments that the standard drive pad can tear.
After that we show some hand tools that you may want for floor cleaning to better do corners and areas where a machine can't work effectively.

For me I would not have the patience to remove the teeth from the pad drivers. So would you suggest that I would need to just get plenty of pads and bonnets when I get my oreck orbiter? I don't have one yet. But these seem like great machines and I love the fact they are multipurpose machines.
Don't waste your time doing this (I need to take this video down). We were among the first to do this modification and it is obsolete. The problem was always with the Velcro you could buy.
5 lb strength is really the maximum you can use because stronger rated Velcro grips too much and pulls lose from your pad driver.
The sheets people sell only last a couple of weeks or so and then they fail to hold the bonnets after that, another waste of time and money.
The stock pad driver with worn-down gripper teeth works great but unless you've used an Oreck for a long time you won't have that option and trying to wear the teeth down the fast way can backfire if you overdo it.
And, if you want to run anything but the stock Oreck bonnets you will need a good aftermarket pad driver.
I recommend you use the one we've been using for a couple of years with no issues whatsoever. You need the Challenger Pad Driver (the one that fits the Oreck) and then you can run almost any pad or bonnet you can think of.

BTW I have absolutely no financial interest in the Challenger products and I do sell the Oreck Pad Drivers on Amazon, so I would make money if I push the Velcro Pad Driver Mod in this video but I tell people not to bother and just contact Corey instead because the product he can get you is way better. It still isn't "cheap" but it works and you'll be far better off than messing with other options!!!

I'm glad you asked because I got to use the question for a way to help lots of viewers to avoid putting too much time/effort into something that has been better handled by Challenger when they released their pad driver (which wasn't available when we made this video)...so luckily nobody has to do this anymore!!!

Just picked up my first Oreck Orbiter for $40 yesterday. It's got the pad driver, which I agree is very aggressive and I'll be taking down most of the plastic teeth as you showed, but I want to get the brushes for it too. How do you remove the pad driver to install the brushes?
You remove the pad driver completely to run brushes. The brushes have their own drive ring instead of the plate style driver needed for pads and bonnets. Removing the teeth from the driver will help with pads and bonnets if you're doing hard floors, but the bonnets will slip off on carpets, so decide which way you need it to work before grinding down the pins. You may want to get another driver and modify one and keep the other as is so you can still do carpets if you ever need to.

There are some different ones, but not all attach to a mop handle thread!
