  • A previous video showed dry buffing with this same pad/machine combo to restore an existing shine. But adding wax increases the shine even more.
    This video shows a dry white polishing pad (not bonnet) being used with an Oreck Orbiter to spray buff using fresh wax (50% wax, 50% water) to shine a floor.
    This floor had been waxed several months prior to this with Zep High Traffic Floor Polish (4 coats).

      I long ago decided to embrace the idea that especially people from the UK think this and it's fine with me. People in the US don't hear it so much but it's a thing and we all have our things...

    keeping the camera lower like when you had it on the floor showed off how shiny it really got as you could see the machine in the floor.

    I have VCT tile in my kitchen. The floor has been waxed with three layers of zep high traffic floor polish. There are some fine pieces of lint in the top layer of wax. Can the floor buffer buff those out?

    • @JoeWheeler
      @JoeWheeler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Try using a red or white pad and see. If some comes out great but if not you can try to add one more coat and see if it covers them up. If that doesn't work then you may have to do a strip and wax which is a major process so I'd try a cover up first. Good luck!

    I have a tile floor that was professionally stripped. resurfaced, and waxed a year ago. We have a oreck orbiter as well. The white model version of yours. I trying for that shine. Do I need a drive plate for the pad? And is the Zep you show in the video the wax you are referring to? Thanks in advance and great work!

    • @JoeWheeler
      @JoeWheeler  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Use the driver that came with your Oreck for the pad. After you have several coats of the wax shown applied, you can spray buff with the Oreck. But the wax has to have been down a while (couple of weeks is good) because the method shown is for adding small amounts of wax to an existing waxed floor to build up scratched and worn areas and give the floor a boost. I recommend three or four coats of wax on a thoroughly cleaned floor to begin with, than spray buffing every few weeks to bring the shine back up. Good luck.

    We have vinyl sheet flooring, prob put in when built, 95'? We've been here bout 10 years, kitchen floor is 'clean' but looks dirty/discolored. Do you have advice on stripping/polishing this kind of surface? Thnx

    • @JoeWheeler
      @JoeWheeler  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Simple Green in your prespray with about ten minutes dwell time, before scrubbing with Oreck and a black floor pad (stripping pad, and brown ones work too). Use a wet/dry vac with squeegee to remove the slurry when done. If you don't have a wet/dry, than use terry towels or bonnet either by hand, or with the Orbiter but you'll have to wring them out frequently. Repeat these steps till you get everything looking even. You may need a scraper for edges and corners, or a doodlebug (like a swiffer head, it swivels to get along edges) with green 3M cleaning pads. To polish, make sure floor is spotless and apply a good floor wax (Zep High Traffic is what we used in the video) in several light coats, allowing a half hour or so between coats (do at least 3, but 5 or 6 is better). For cleaning later use water, or water and a neutral ph cleaner like Fabuloso and mop and allow to dry. Over time, you will wear the top layer of the wax and see a dullness or haze. You then want to spray buff, which is adding wax with a machine like in the video. Use 50/50 floor wax and water and apply small amounts and buff it in with a white or red floor pad. You can do this often if you want to keep up a brilliant shine. If you have a Hoover Floormate, or Bissell Crosswave, or similar floor cleaner/scrubber, you can use them instead of a mop, and they'll help make maintaining your shine a lot easier. I don't know your budget or what equipment you have access to, but some of the items I mentioned you'll only need for initially cleaning/polishing the floors, and some you'll want to have available for frequent use to maintain the floors. Good luck, hope this helps!

      As of today, I have 2,151 videos of which there are several hundred public, some are clips from larger videos, and some private. So when I search my channel using Video Manager and try to sort for "Floors" it doesn't really give me just the floor cleaning ones. So I found three of maybe ten or so floor cleaning, polishing, and related Oreck Orbiter videos. I hope these will help, and you may find others searching TH-cam for Oreck Orbitor Cleaning Hard Floors or something similar. Here's what I found (and it wasn't actually easy, but I care, so I do try for everyone)...

    How many days do you have to wait, after you lay the wax on you're floor, till you're able to spray buff. The reason I'm asking is because I spray buffed the floor the following day after laying the wax and it to the wax right off, I'm using the same white pad and same machine as you are.

    • @JoeWheeler
      @JoeWheeler  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      5-7 days to allow it to fully cure. It is too soft the first day to mess with and customers can mess it up with street shoes etc, so warn them about how they use the floor the first 24 hrs. Once fully cured then you can start maintaining with the spray wax technique. Also just using a light mist of water with the pad can help buff the floors to remove any slight scuffing in the topcoat to bring out a shine without applying spray wax. Once fully cured these floors can be maintained very easily so it's worth doing the initial 3-5 coats carefully so you can have some layers to work with. Hope this helps Carlos!

    i wanna remove all the shoe scuffs off the polished floors...will doing this remove the scuffs?

    • @JoeWheeler
      @JoeWheeler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The best pad for this would be the red pad, but a white one will work. Try a little Fabuloso sprayed on the scuff marks, or even vinegar to help the marks to break up a little. After you've cleaned the floor than you can start spray buffing and applying small amounts of wax to build up a shine.

    what kind of floor cleaner did you use with the machine? TY

    • @JoeWheeler
      @JoeWheeler  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      We didn't use any floor cleaner. What we were doing was applying watered down floor wax to fill in surface scratches and imperfections from wear and use since the floors had been originally waxed. But a good general purpose floor cleaner is Fabuloso, because it is a neutral pH and won't leave a residue after being applied, so it won't leave them sticky and prone to resoiling. You can also use vinegar and water if the floor isn't waxed because it is acidic and will help keep the floor less prone to getting dirty.

    So I can use any wax liquid, make the ratio 50/50 with water and spray while I’m running the Oreck with the white polish disk, isn’t?

    • @JoeWheeler
      @JoeWheeler  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I wouldn't use any wax (Mop and Glow for example) but most quality floor waxes can be used this way. Just remember to apply SMALL amounts of the mixture and blend it fully in before adding more. It won't work if you rush it and put down more product than the pad can properly blend into the existing wax. The water will be used up in the process and the thin wax evenly spread to fill scratches and add a littl shine so it works well one you learn the best technique. Try to use the same wax as the floor was coated with if you can determine that. Good luck!

      @@JoeWheeler What would you recommend for floor stripping?

    • @JoeWheeler
      @JoeWheeler  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably just some Zep Floor Stripper from Home Depot. It doesn't have to be fancy just able to strip floors. Be sure and clean the Oreck if you use that with a black pad because of the gunk that will build up under the machine.
