    I can tell you from experience they are rough the first year or two, they will eat your socks underwear, dish towels, towels ruin your shoes anything fabric chew on your furniture you name it... mine is 90 pounds and he's 14 months now getting better but still alone of work. Having a crate is a necessity, and don't believe anyone selling these dogs saying your getting a mini or medium sized dog... mine is " medium" and like I mentioned is 90 pounds... when puppies, they are so cute to look at, but their teeth and nails are like talons... there will be blood... your own haha but they are friendly and smart and hypoallergenic so there is that... just know it is a lot of work for one of these dogos

      Hi we got a mini golden doodle around Christmas as a puppy and it has been a terror. Nipping and biting with those sharp little teeth and getting into things we have no idea how she found. We give her lots of exercise, she plays and wrestles with our older lab until she has had enough when she starts to nip and bite. We also have her engaged in food puzzles so she has to work at getting her food. We have even had to spray our shoes, and pant legs with apple bitterspray so we can walk through our house. Hope it gets better soon.

    We have a big Goldendoodle and it’s the best dog we could ever have gotten. Don’t get discouraged by what you hear here. I can’t image an easier dog to have- unless you are completely unfit to have any type of dog, in which case a fresh water fish is a better decision.

      Have to agree. My wife came with a labradoodle and we then got a goldendoodle. Both dogs are very easy. They will play but once you stop they will either go off and play by themselves or just plop down and relax. Both are very good at entertaining themselves. I have never observed any separation anxiety from either type of doodle, but what they do is give us a hearty greeting when we come home, or when known guest come to the house.
      I have owned labs and labs mixes and was of the opinion that labs were the best dogs to have, but I have changed my mind. Doodles are the best.

      I think the only thing I’d warn about is grooming! They NEED the grooming and will get matted, get their ears infected if you’re not meticulous about grooming and plenty of exercise otherwise they get depressed. I have to agree that other than that, they’re the perfect dogs! Mine is so freaking easy to train and so goofy and he’s my first pet and he’s never destructive because I try to make sure he gets at least an hour of dog play at the dog park at least three times a week, and he’s happy and never destroyed anything in the house. He is very good in that he doesn’t destroy anything in the house other than his toys which I’m perfectly fine with.

    My goldendoodle is amazing 😍 the only thing I agree with is keeping up on their hair care maintenance. They need to be kept Groomed to stop matting. Other than that I work 8hours a day but I walk him in the morning before and when I get home. He has never destroyed anything at home. My cameras show him on my bed and waiting on me. Might get him a sister or brother soon tho

      @gayrobloxgirl ปีที่แล้ว

      @@andresbedolla798 im not sure, but probably. my doodle had me and my sister around when he was a puppy but our parents were gone for most of the day for work, we kept things like shoes and bad objects for him in cabinets or puppy gates, now he only chews on socks which we let him. if you want him to be trained to not ruin the house, i suggest possibly buying a dog trainer if you have the money or after he is vaccinated take him to doggy daycare. its very important to be around pups when they first come home, not to make things tragic but a family friend had a puppy and left for work with it alone, and he came home to it hanging off the doorknob with their collar dead.. perhaps you can get family or even a dog sitter to help?

Helps ME get in steps too. 🙂 We're fortunate that when we're gone, he's always being nosy looking out the window (LOL) or literally waiting at the door for us...ours is a mini but we could've gone standard too. Grooming is very important to prevent matting. Ours get combed/brushed daily...just do it during your favorite movie/show. They're the BEST dogs ever!!! Cuddle City!

    It's funny because my Golden Doodle has zero separation anxiety. She's stuck to us like glue while we're all home, but she doesn't mind if we leave for work (which isnt often since my wife and I work from home 90% od the time). We've been able to leave her alone with free roam of the house since she was 4 months old.
    Everything else is spot on though, and none of these are negatives since we're generally an active family so it's great to have a dog that can keep up with us.

      Same same. She hates being left out when we are all home, but when we all leave, she just sits next to us on the stairs. We have a good bye routine (we need to kiss her and hug her) and she just gives you a sad look as you leave. She hasnt ever chewed anything she wasnt supposed to. That said, while she doesnt bark, she is vocal with those sad whimpers when she wants something.

    • @Wolfdawg504

      @@Glaycier sounds about right. Except for the vocal part. Our Golden Doodle is EXTREMELY vocal. I rescued a sweet sweet goldendoodle named Purple & sent the previous owner who was abusing her this video! Purple was always in a cage or on a chain & hadn't been properly groomed in months. Her hair was dread several coats deep from baths & hardly any brushing. Literal cheeks of mattness I could grab full fist without touching the skin below, matted inside her ears, belly, everything matted. Her eyes are infected from the matts around them!! Whiskers & hair on snout matted!! 😡
    I've had her for a little over a week now & finances are really tight at the moment, so I've been grooming her myself until 1 or 2am after leaving the University where i study music & work as an audio engineer. All I have left is her legs & outside of ears, but have ruined 2 clippers & a couple pairs of snips in the process 😭
    Even though I've fallen off with my studies these last couple weeks & one of the only ones with music not memorized for multiple performances coming up, Thanksgiving break will let me pull it all together, & even if I sing a wrong note or have to make up a word or two - saving Purples life was the right thing to do & I'm thankful for her coming into my life to help end the year strong #purplethepup

    Whenever I saw a beautiful large Golden Doodle and the owner said it was a rescue I was surprised that someone would give the dog up. Sometimes I saw the dogs in a store with the owner or even in a shopping cart;well behaved. But I can say that any of those 7 reasons could surprise someone if they are unable to give this wonderful dog all the space, time, care and energy she deserves. I have a full size Golden Doodle, Gracie, who will be 1 yr. in a couple weeks. She is an amazing and devoted companion and keeps me laughing all the time. I am 74 and I can say that if I weren't strong and in good health as my 68 yr. old brother has also realized, we could not keep up with our dogs from puppy hood as we both have. Possibly an older, well trained dog or smaller as mentioned. As I speak Gracie is draped across my lap in the recliner and all around me is where she wants to be 24-7😂 I love all the wonderful things about her breed as stated and I have experienced and more. Every dog deserves a good home. And this dog brings with him a personal connection that will brighten yours if you can handle all that gold🤗

    My wife been wanting another dog for about 2 years, but she kept changing her mind on and off about it-I didn’t want another pet[already have 2 cats and a 13 yr old dog]. Anyways, last month she said I’m going to get a puppy with our son, I was yeah go ahead thinking the past 2 years she said it regularly and she backed outta of it last min. Well, not this time. She brought home a beautiful 10wk old labradoodle(April’22) and I was wtf. Now she is mine. She is fun, wild, crazy, bratty, funny, weird, etc, but she is mine and I can’t wait to see what she will become. Like babies and kids there are growing pains and learning curves, I would say the biggest and most important that I believe it was left out on this list is owner patience and proper training. Non stop training around the clock.

    They're definitely is some things to take into consideration. I have two Goldendoodles. A standard Goldendoodle that weighs 85 lb and is not even a year old yet and a mini Goldendoodle that's a year and a half. Grooming is essential. Exercise is a must unless you want them to get destructive because they're very smart. As far as personality, they have never shown aggression to anybody. My 85 lb boy is as gentle has a lamb. He's also very calm. My mini is very loving and very smart. I had My mini first and then we bought a standard to keep her company. See they require a lot of playtime and activity. So now they play with each other a lot. They don't know each other's size. These dogs are very different than any other dog I've ever owned. And I've had five different dogs in my lifetime. They're very sociable, playful, want to be around people all the time, and very smart! And I mean very smart. I love this breed and I would get another one when mine are gone. 💜

    My golden doodle won't leaves me alone. Always follows, always stalking, peeping at me etc. He's super friendly, loves meeting people but also knows when to be protective. He's on the smaller large side being 57 pounds but he has the appearance of at least an 80 pound dog. If he doesn't have toys he will chew and dig your world up as he is super active and always wanting to play.
    Very trainable as well. My mini even trained faster than my large one. Unfortunately the mini passed away from a neurological issue and we now have a mini-toy mix 20 pound golden doodle carrying his torch and the even smaller one trained easier than the first two.
    I will stick to this breed for life. GD's are in no way crowding adoption kennels and as a matter of fact, it's rare to find one for adoption at an animal shelter.
    I'm sorry for all the overbred pitbulls but it genetics are not for me.
    I got an F1B that sheds, sometimes it happens, but the dogs adorable character and obedience outshines his non-hyper allergenic attribute that I hoped for. Oh well, he's mine till the end now and welcome to shed all over my life.
    His name is Noodles by the way. And his little brothers name is Freddie after Freddie Mercury.

Yes there are plenty of ill trained dogs, but as a professional groomer, it’s part of my job to help them get used to grooming! I’ve worked with lots of groomers who hate grooming them because of the time and energy it takes. He's super sweet but also very aggressive and bites A LOT.
    He's about 6 months old now (got him when he was only 2 months) I'm also not sure how to 1. train him to not do certain things or 2. how big he'll get because even by looking it up I couldn't really tell. Anyways that's been my experience so far with my Goldendoodle boy

Whoever designed that site made assumptions in order to produce this program - and they don't tell you what they were. Our 21 pound petit Golden Doodle was born of parents weighing 20 and 22 pounds. I get bit by “doodles” and “poos” every day at my job. I am a veterinary assistant, and they are easily one of the most psychologically inept dog breeds that I’ve had to deal with alongside toy breeds. Especially because these owners are so blind and unwilling to understand that their dogs are genuinely neurotic and can actually cause harm to people, so they refuse to muzzle them. Not to mention the sheer amount of dogs we’ve had to euthanize under the age of 5 due to severe genetic health issues.

    Speaking from a groomer's standpoint, this breed was ALWAYS difficult for us to work with. Most owners didn't understand just how much goes into the maintenance of this coat, not to mention the energy levels and training this breed needs. When you have a large dog that absolutely is going to require regular grooming, training is a MUST. (Should be for any dog but especially focused on grooming training with dogs like these.) Training and enough exercise will honestly make it easier on everyone--the owner, the dog & the groomer.
    Most doodle mixes we got were huge, high energy, untrained and unruly. Was not fun for us or the dogs.

      @Blkbeautee Doodles tend to be a high energy/wiggly breed for grooming so we often would tell people to start very young with things like basic leash manner/standing still, being touched all over (calmly), especially including touching between the toes because often doodle hair gets matted and long and we shave out between the pads of the feet. Also just a ton of brushing. Often owners would think that a little brush over the surface was fine but rit really needs to get down to the root of the hair with a wide toothed comb or basic metal slicker brush.

  • @peacefulinvasion684
    @peacefulinvasion684 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    The reason why I'd never get a doodle is because they are often the result of irresponsible breeding. So many breeders will force the mother's to pop out litters one after another with little to no recovery time. They'll separate the puppies from their moms far too early so they miss out on important socialization. Basically they usually come from puppy mills.
    They often end up in shelters because of misconceptions about the breed. They are advertised to be a low maintenance, hypoallergenic dog that's easy to groom. Reality is they are the opposite.
    They're high maintenance, not hypoallergenic, and are much more difficult to groom than a purebred poodle due to their mixed coat.
    The result is a dog who suffers needlessly for somebody else's entertainment. Only way I'd get one is if I find one in a shelter or needs to be rehomed.

      Hi! Depending on the thickness/curliness of the dog's coat, you should brush them quite regularly because their fur can mat easily which can be painful for the dog because mats pinch the skin. You don't need to bathe them as often as you brush them but it wouldn't hurt to have them groomed every six weeks or so. Also, if grooming gets expensive for you, you can ask your groomer to do half clips between full grooms. This way you don't pay the full price but they get their bath and brush and sanitary trim. But the best thing you can do for them is brush your doodle regularly. Hope this helps :)

    • @ashleymartin8093
      @ashleymartin8093 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@killjoy4540 Hi! The best thing you can do is train them for grooming. At home, you can get them used to being touched everywhere by playing with/massaging their paws or holding their beard or tail. Don't pull on them of course, just help them get used to being touched where people don't normally pet their dogs. If they have trouble with nail clippers you can start by asking for their paw and rewarding them when they sit still while you hold their paw. The next step would be to get them used to having the clippers close to them; here you wouldn't actually be clipping the nails, just touch their claws and if they sit still (no jerking/tugging) reward them. It's definitely a process that requires a lot of patience. Is there anything specific your dog does while being brushed/groomed (for example jerk around or bite)? Maybe I can help a little more if I know their behavior better :)

    Doodles are certainly cute but there is no way to ethically breed them. All doodles come from backyard breeders who have somehow acquired a poodle and golden retriever (not well bred) to create these expensive designer mutts. Buy a poodle instead! Or better yet - adopt a doodle. So many people buy these mixed breeds but cannot handle the amount of work their coats are. There are many doodles that deserve homes, adopt instead!

      The BBB and good reviews have nothing to do with dog breeding. The ethics guide of The Poodle Club of America and The Golden Retriever Club of America states that well-bred dogs are to not be used in the creation of designer mutts. Therefore, if it violates the very first rule of ethics, it cannot be ethical. Breeders are using low-quality stock in their breeding programs.

    I was always a big dog person, a friend of mine who owns horses had a vet friend who needed a temporary home for a mini doodle. Being a pet person I took him in with my bull mastiffs expecting it to be a chore. Long story short he fit right in and my usually cranky older lazy mastiff would get up and to play with him and they’d nap together often. He got both my mastiffs into better shape by playing his favorite game (keep away) I ended up telling the vet that he had his new forever home and he’s been incredibly loyal and quick/eager to learn. I do agree that you shouldn’t look for one if you’re gone often as he seems to be missing me much more than the mastiffs when I’m gone.
