  • Part 1 of a DIY procedure on how to re-cone a vintage 5" radio speaker using only paper, cloth and glue. This procedure can be used on a speaker of any size or impedance.

    Just watched both vid's, in reverse order, of course...
    Nice job.
    If anyone wants to try this for themselves, follow these vid's exactly, with one additional step..
    Once the cone is cut to size, lay it flat onto a hard surface, concrete, marble, etc. Grab mom's best rolling pin, and run it over the cone material a few times. This makes the material a little less rigid, expands the frequency response, a slightly "warmer" sound.

    Not that it's going to help you right now but,... If you ever need felt, they sell it in the hobby section at Walmart. With or without adhesive.
    They also sell sheets of 1/8in foam padding with or without adhesive on one side. You cut it to the shape you want then peel & stick.
