  • Part 2 of a DIY procedure on how to re-cone a vintage 5" radio speaker using only paper, cloth and glue. This procedure can be used on a speaker of any size or impedance.

    Nice job. I can imagine the surprised look, 70 years from now , when an as yet unborn restorer sees the blue cone . He will spend many an hour in 2090 researching what company made blue cone speakers :) .

    It would be interesting to see if treating a paper cone might increase the low-end. There is definitely a lost art in this cool project.

      Thanks Bluejay, I think maybe a 50/50 mix of white glue and water would beef it up a little and improve the low end too. Might try that!
