I was looking for an E55 when I found my S55 as well. Glad I got the S55! Had it for a year and 13k miles and it’s a very easy and cheap car to work on! Just did front pads and rotors (raybestos rotors and Akebono pads) for $250. Rebuilt the rear calipers for about 30 bucks and did an inner tie rod end and trans mount for $50 (using OEM quality parts). I also got an 83mm pulley on a stock tune, but I split my cooling system so the intercooler water never mixes with engine coolant, and added a water/meth kit to add extra fuel for the increase in boost. I run a very traction limited 4.3 second 0-60 time. Everything else, exhaust included, is bone stock.
I'm definitely looking into split cooling cuz my intake temps are terrible when I go into boost I mean it'll go from 70-80 all the way to 120-130. But I've seen some mixed reviews on the split cooling. And I've always run the water meth on all my previous boosted vehicles but got nervous when legit street cars did a video and it lost power!? Either way I still have a lot in works for this car.
Guys split cooling is e55 stuff, the s55 is already separated ans we have more coolant capacity and 2 intercooler Instead of one. Just change to the 010 pump and you're pretty good to go

Never known valve cover gaskets leak. The breather covers are a different matter, they dont use gaskets, and are a pita for leaking. The wheels are too big, you have to lift the suspension its highest position to drive it, tyres catching on the wheel arches are they? The ABC looks like its lifting all the way, but unevenly, stand by for some hefty Bill's. I have replaced my ABC with coil springs from strutmasters, replace the lower arms with those from an airmatic car, fit a swaybar from same, and the ride is as good as the ABC. if you change the supercharger oil, dont forget to use Jet oil. I wouldn't be E55 has airmatic and they both have their issues though the ABC's ability quite outweighs it, plus the price difference gives you room for maintenance and upgrades. Test drive both and see which fits you better. I just did a rebuild of the valve block seals on the rear block and it was a lot easier than expected I think when I release the post 100k series videos there's definitely going to be information that other people I feel leave out.

She's an 03 and does have a few glitches, the soft close doors doesn't work and the rear shade but the locks and head rests work fine, other than that she's a BEAST in and OUT of the sheets! I haven't got to run Cedeses at the track yet but my BIRD runs LOW 8's in the 8th mile, with aLL the bolt on's and a tune! Just LEFT me,kinda made me sad but happy at the same time, lol!
From the video it looked as though your driver’s side rear ABC strut was sagging when the car was off. Typically this is a sign that the strut is failing. It could also have just been that my viewing angle was poor. Let me know! Awesome looking W220 AMG!
It's was the valve block seals, I filmed the rebuild and alot related for a future video on a post 100k maintenance. Follow my Instagram @U7TRA_ you'll see sneak peaks into future content 👍 thank you and glad you enjoyed the video.
Thank you, they came with the car but just search ebay for s55 AMG led headlights. They look nice but the projectors are garbage. In a future video i will go over all lightning and options
I actually bought the car like this the previous owner cut out the resonators and the mufflers but had the tips mounted back on to the straight pipe. He gave me the mufflers when he sold me the car but not the resonator and at the time I didn't even know they were cut.
I almost purchased a '03! I turned it down when I had a 5 star shop to inspect it! They were my angels! The previous owner didn't take care of it! The used car dealer weren't honest as well!
was looking at w140s but the lack of performance steered me towards newer gens and ive been looking for a silver s65 w220 with the black interior but ive had no look so its a w140 s500 or w220 s55 right now, what do you think?
If you want to go for old school nostalgia then go with the 140 but if you want you know the prime example of power and what AMG is then s55 hands down
@@u7tra_661 yes i love the look of both but the way the w140 sits and looks with the black on black is sick just very lacking in performance and the w220 looks great just not that square old school Mercedes shape that got me into Mercedes
Same price? If so, Ironically it would be tough... I guess it would depend on the condition and options also. If not, probably no as it would have been past my budget.
I'd probably still stick with the S55 as I could use the extra money on the car, I have more knowledge on the m113/k platform and there is more available performance upgrades and the platform is trusted, also this was the last year of that engine platform. More sentimental to me. Though the exhaust of a V12 is unsurpassed...
If you're not very familiar with these cars it'll be worth it to spend a couple of bucks at a private shop to have them do a pre-purchase inspection try and find one that works on German cars it'd be too lengthy to try and explain it it's more of a years and past of experience that are applied when looking at the car. But the basics you could start with is getting any service history and possibly doing a Carfax
Ride is 🔥 man! I got mine in the shop hopefully i get it out soon. What part of NY you at? In need of other s55 Amg owners get advice and recommendations.
Is it clean title on the car? I’m asking because I’m looking at an 05 s55 for around 8k with 97k miles but it’s a southern car with salvage title from “water damage”
Hi , I need you help please, one guy what to sold hes car s55 amg 2004 ,I want to buy it . And I'm not understanding nothing about this car ,maybe you have time to help me ?
That tough, It really breaks down to how the car was maintained, any records for proof and inspection you can have done. in a sense a poorly maintained car with 100k versus a meticulously maintained car with 160k It might be a better option and again it depends on budget and also how much the mileage affects you mentally, versus what's actually going on with the car. But for the most part the m113/k and the 722.6 are for the most part bulletproof and should last for multiple 100k mileage.. and should last well in those mileages if maintained
How you been liking your S? I came from an E55 to this, and I am impressed with it. I dropped a 77mm pully on it to give it a bit of a boost but I’m curious as I haven’t heard much about these
Interestingly enough, I’m sure you know about the W220 having a upgraded cooling system to the boost intercooler, also, if you haven’t solved the BT streaming issue since we don’t have AUX, check out Mr12v, full BT streaming thru the fiber cable, just takes the place of your CD changer, but you have full controls on the steering wheel and song names come up. Also, I don’t know where you live but I saw the Ambient temp as 95 so odds are your down south like me, turns out there are ways to upgrade your vented seats with better fan, so the cooled seats are much better! Just sharing some interesting tid bits with you, and maybe some future video ideas!
I have an 05 S55. While my ABC is functional, at 87K on the clock, I'm concerned about it starting to go. I'm considering swapping out to the coilover and swaybar kits....have you considered this?
As far as I'm aware issues with the ABC suspension only come to those that are not maintained though there is possible failure rate on the hydraulic shock itself but I think those are actually not extremely common but they do happen. The ABC suspension is so unique and amazing switching to coilovers and sway bars would be such a downgrade and the loss of the cloud mode in driving with 19s and low pros but still handling would disappear. Heck even in sport mode it's still fairly smooth You just feel the ride more to give you that sporty affect. Has the system been flushed yet? Any leaks? Any sagging when parked?
@@u7tra_661 No leaks and/or sagging. MBforum and numerous mechanics claim they're a weak link and very problematic in design and maintenance. While true it's an amazing ride it's a matter of when and not IF it goes down (pun). Thanks for your thoughts
I highly recommend doing the complete suspension service including the valve block seals. It will be in the post 100k video as I am doing the complete service.
Lol, I wouldn't wait for 100k, doing it now will probably save you a headache, same if you haven't done the transmission yet, def do that immediately! Preventive maintenance goes alot further than maintenance due!
Honestly it's kind of aggravating. They came with the car when I purchased it. It's the projectors installed weren't so terrible I would love these headlights. And a future video I break down the difference between the OEM headlight pattern and these along with different bulbs from osram and Phillips. I have about a Year's worth of filming in the back I just need to finally sit down and edit everything so I can send out weekly videos.
So far just a bushing and the abc system was never ever ever serviced! Might need a new pump. I will be covering slot in the post 100k video but it probably won't be out till next summer, as I have bunch of other stuff filmed and need to edit and still complete the 100k maintenance.
Some of these and other models have had multiple owners! What would be the amount of previous owners to turn from...that you should stay away from? Two? Three? Four or more? Thanks!
It really depends, not such a straight answer. But to keep it easy 3 or less. But again a lot of that depends on the type of vehicle a very high dollar car may be leased for one to two years then the next person might do the same then someone might own it for a few years and then the next person see what I'm saying so each car is really different depending on the type of car and a lot depends on the maintenance history since you can never really get the information on why it exchanged so many hands but usually if it did exchange a lot of hands there was probably something wrong with the vehicle that the next person thought they could fix or wasn't aware of.
Making the ABC Suspension sound more desirable than the Airmatic suspension, is evil and diabolical 🙂↔️…. I definitely prefer the Airmatic over the ABC … I thought I wanted the S55, but discovering that it has the ABC SUSPENSION, I’m pretty much no longer interested…. I’m thinking of modding my 2004 s-class NA with a supercharger intake setup…. Hopefully, in a couple years, the price of that mod will decrease considerably. 🤞🤞
Fronts: 19x8.5 ET35 w/ 225|40|19 Rears: 19x9.5 ET35 w/ 245|40|19 I used smaller width tires because the smaller offset pushed the wheels out and the stretch on the tires keeps the rear from possibly rubbing vs the 275's that would not work on a lower stance and should be on there. Also the 225's on the front we're not necessary but I did it so the look of the tires matched.

Cedeses got 130 on her and was garage kept but I have NO idea if the 100 mile upkeep was done but 0 valve cover leaks or any at ALL! She's an 03 and does have a few glitches, the soft close doors doesn't work and the rear shade but the locks and head rests work fine, other than that she's a BEAST in and OUT of the sheets! I also owen a 02 Formula Firebird with Ram Air and MANY upgrades, even with the wife driving she flipping DUSTED me,like I was in reverse BAD! I haven't got to run Cedeses at the track yet but my BIRD runs LOW 8's in the 8th mile, with aLL the bolt on's and a tune! Just LEFT me,kinda made me sad but happy at the same time, lol!
My 05 S600 ABC suspension settles the exact same way yours does ....same tires & all.
@@u7tra_661 valve block seals👍 the strut either fails completely or not at all.
Nice car! What headlights do you have?
Thank you, they came with the car but just search ebay for s55 AMG led headlights. They look nice but the projectors are garbage. In a future video i will go over all lightning and options
Nice video man.
Thank you 👍
Nice car
Thank you
awesome video. what model multi spoke AMG wheels are those? what size? thank you
looking forward to the next episode. subcribed!
Thank you kindly 👍
Did you do a resonator delete? I have a CLK55 and I’m trying to get that sound you have
I actually bought the car like this the previous owner cut out the resonators and the mufflers but had the tips mounted back on to the straight pipe.
He gave me the mufflers when he sold me the car but not the resonator and at the time I didn't even know they were cut.
I almost purchased a '03! I turned it down when I had a 5 star shop to inspect it! They were my angels! The previous owner didn't take care of it! The used car dealer weren't honest as well!
top eyebrow headlights or bottom eyebrow led strip? which better
I didn't know shot valve blocks were a flex xD
Where did you get those headlights and are they compatible with factory wiring of Zenons?
They came with the car and yes they are compatible with the factory xenons. I believe you can find them on eBay.
What a car !! Does it have ABC ?? Thanks !
Yes!
Wow wow. I love it. I'm looking to buy a CL55 because I just love how it looks
Any updates? or any recent issues? I am interested!
Nice video. Nice car,
Thank you 👍
Damn thats a nice benz
was looking at w140s but the lack of performance steered me towards newer gens and ive been looking for a silver s65 w220 with the black interior but ive had no look so its a w140 s500 or w220 s55 right now, what do you think?
If you want to go for old school nostalgia then go with the 140 but if you want you know the prime example of power and what AMG is then s55 hands down
@@u7tra_661 yes i love the look of both but the way the w140 sits and looks with the black on black is sick just very lacking in performance and the w220 looks great just not that square old school Mercedes shape that got me into Mercedes
I love this car
Thank you me too, so glad I DIDN'T get an E55, maybe a e55 wagon in the future who knows I actually like the w210 wagons
If you could had got an 2006 s65 amg over the s55 amg?same condition would you?
Same price? If so, Ironically it would be tough... I guess it would depend on the condition and options also.
If not, probably no as it would have been past my budget.
Let’s say u had the money to get the get the s65 same condition same options or more....what car would you pick and why?
I'd probably still stick with the S55 as I could use the extra money on the car, I have more knowledge on the m113/k platform and there is more available performance upgrades and the platform is trusted, also this was the last year of that engine platform. More sentimental to me. Though the exhaust of a V12 is unsurpassed...
w220 55 is a better car than w211 55 i would take the s every time
Quality video. Subbed
Thank you 👍
What month of 2006 was this car built
Amazing car bros
How’s the reliability? I heard these engines are bulletproof!
They really are! Engine and transmission wise unbelievably solid
I'm looking at a 2006 S55! What shall I be looking at? What questions should I ask the owner? What problems may I encounter? Thanks!
@@u7tra_661 I'm all ready considering that! I had a precheck for a 2004 in Cali. weeks ago! It saved my pockets!
You know I will work on a making a video showing how to do a pre-purchase inspection. Thanks for the inspiration 👍
How can you remove pre safe inactive messages on cluster instruments
Thanks
What headlights are these and are the tied into the factory hid system
The song in the background is too loud. We are here to listen to you man! 😊
Ride is 🔥 man!
I got mine in the shop hopefully i get it out soon.
What part of NY you at? In need of other s55 Amg owners get advice and recommendations.
Spoke with you on Instagram 👍
Vvvery nice! 7K😳
Many thanks 👍 I know right 😬
do you still have this car? if so how is it doing I was hoping to see the 100k service video
well made video :D
Is it clean title on the car? I’m asking because I’m looking at an 05 s55 for around 8k with 97k miles but it’s a southern car with salvage title from “water damage”
No it's a clean title two previous owner car
Hows it compare to an s600?
gearshift oil level should be chevked when the engine is running
Hi , I need you help please, one guy what to sold hes car s55 amg 2004 ,I want to buy it . And I'm not understanding nothing about this car ,maybe you have time to help me ?
What mileage would you recommend staying away from when high mileage?
That tough, It really breaks down to how the car was maintained, any records for proof and inspection you can have done. in a sense a poorly maintained car with 100k versus a meticulously maintained car with 160k It might be a better option and again it depends on budget and also how much the mileage affects you mentally, versus what's actually going on with the car. But for the most part the m113/k and the 722.6 are for the most part bulletproof and should last for multiple 100k mileage.. and should last well in those mileages if maintained
@@u7tra_661 I will consider that! Thanks!
Mr. H. Don’t worry about it. I’ve seen M113Ks with 200k miles on it. The motor is strong. Just have to worry about around the motor
Did the car come with hid headlights are the aftermarket headlights hid?
The car came with factory bi-xenon lighting. The headlight housings are aftermarket. I will be doing a future video on ALL the lighting and upgrades.
@@u7tra_661
Yeah I'd like to know what brand halos those are
@@u7tra_661 will be looking forward for that video
Get them auto leveling valve blocks rebuilt
Thanks, already did them while performing all the post 100k maintenance.
We need more videos brooo
As an 06 S55 owner, how did you find out how many were built?
I googled amg production numbers, also there is a thread on mbworld that has all AMG production #'s by year and model.
Now I wonder where in the line mine falls
I love it, so glad I got this instead of the E55. Been working on getting the major maintenance up to date to carry the car for another 100k+
@@u7tra_661
No leaks and/or sagging.
@@u7tra_661
Ok...I'll check out the video. I don't drive the car much so it might take me 3yrs to reach 100k. I'm at 87.5k on the clock...
Lol, I wouldn't wait for 100k, doing it now will probably save you a headache, same if you haven't done the transmission yet, def do that immediately! Preventive maintenance goes alot further than maintenance due!
Ah, I've bought a pair of those Chinese headlights back in 2014...
Beautiful
I just bought a 2006 s55 silver on silver 2 piece 19s all stock 125k
Awesome, they are unbelievable vehicles the mix of comfort, class and pure beast mode is unsurpassed!
How did you get it to sound like that?
No mufflers and no resonators
What is the name of those headlights
Mercedes - Benz.
What was the mileage on your car when you purchased it? I'm still researching!
107,884
@@u7tra_661 any problems?
@@u7tra_661 I'm wondering if that 119,000+ S55 is worth it! It's under 10k.
That's subjective, but I think the platform alone will appreciate over time. And is a timeless bulletproof drivetrain.
Have you thought about getting factory wheels? You will notice a huge improvement in handling and overall performance.
How will you get better performance? I'm curious
Can you please tell me the wheel specs? Thanks!
Fronts: 19x8.5 ET35 w/ 225|40|19
Rears: 19x9.5 ET35 w/ 245|40|19
I used smaller width tires because the smaller offset pushed the wheels out and the stretch on the tires keeps the rear from possibly rubbing vs the 275's that would not work on a lower stance and should be on there. Also the 225's on the front we're not necessary but I did it so the look of the tires matched.
Where did you find them? Are they w222 reps online or oem? Been searching for a set forever!
Yes they are reps, they came with the car. Here is a set I found on ebay, not sure if they are the same manufacturer, as I do know these were stamped inside what all the appropriate markings for a safety and DOT. www.ebay.com/itm/233694943878
Hey Bro...I appreciate your video a lot, I hope you still respond to this vids comments ....your story is exactly mine...after 9 mths of searching I decided I wanted an E55 AMG ( I was told there is only one better the S55 but that they are rare)....2 hrs later I stumbled upon an an 05, S55 on FB marketplace.....My question is AM I making a mistake ? You've had your car 2 yrs, what has it cost you in main and repair? There are conflicting reports ...some say its one of MB most reliable others claim its a money pit....I know all about money pits. I bought a 07 R56 mini S w 85 thou KM for 6500CAD...and spent near 30k fixing it over 2.5 yrs....I ended up abandoning it at the police impound. It was gorgeous every week I would get at least 2 strangers saying "I love your car"... I would reply..Thankyou! dom't ever buy one ....Am I making the same mistake??? my AMG is absolutely mint one owner 135,000 KM never seen snow valve covers done spring 2022 suspension pump done a couple mths ago. What is your experience after 2 yrs ownership??????? thanks
