    Among the top things to do in a lifetime, I highly recommend traveling to Finland (for the non-Finnish, of course!).
    On top of being a food vlog, this is also some sort of travel vlog.
    I spend my life travelling for business. I travel to some of the best destinations in the world and I take the opportunity to live food adventurers.
    As part of my work, I study the ways in which human cultures affect human perception, human behaviour, human beliefs and human actions and reactions.
    I advocate a lifestyle driven by an open mind, wherein cultural barriers are broken and people can communicate from human to human.
    What better way to show an open mind than to try exotic dishes from around the world - food is one of the final frontiers of the human cultural staples.
    Some of those places may also be considered as some of the best holiday destinations in the world - but I am a professional nomad (almost a digital nomad) first before I am a food blogger or a travel blogger.
    In a way, these are my travel tips or this is my travel guide.
    Therefore, if you like traveling, make sure that you visit Finland.
    And by the way, you may someday bump into me, on the streets of a busy city, in a restaurant eating weird stuff or working on the beach of some amazing holiday resort. Come and say hi 😊

    Helsinki was built after separation from Sweden when the Russians conquered us, which began a rise of Finnish nationalism. It had been brewing for a couple hundred years under the power of Sweden as well, but after 1809 it really kicked off. The movement was driven by university academics, and the only university in Finland being in Helsinki at the time (relocated from Turku in 1827), which explains why architecture in Helsinki specifically has a lot of nationalistic influence. Relating to our national epics as well as other kind of... mysticism.

  • @Cikeb
    @Cikeb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You said something about signs of the Russian period when you arrived in Vaasa. What did you mean? Most people only notice the strong Swedish influence in that city.

    • @lisadventures2974
      @lisadventures2974  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This impression of authoritative strength, I guess... It appeared to seep though parts of the architecture, some sort of ambient austerity and some artwork. But after all, these are my personal impressions, from my own experience of Russia. What do YOU think? 😊

    • @Cikeb
      @Cikeb 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I would have thought that you might have seen the old barracks area in the city, which was used by the Russian military up until January 1918, when the civil war of Finland started (Finland declared independence on December 6th, 1917). These buildings do reflect Russian architecture to some extent. I haven't thought that much about how other buildings in the city might reflect the period, but you might have seen something that I haven't thought of. The old city of Vaasa burned to the ground in 1852, and the new city was rebuilt in a new location closer to the water (the coastline moves quite a lot in the area over the centuries due to post-glacial rebound), and Finland had been part of the Russian empire for almost 50 years by then. Though, the city architect who was central in rebuilding the city was Carl Axel Setterberg, a Swede who was into Empire style building (which was common in Russia, but also places like Napoleonic France ).

There is most metal bands per capita in the world in Finland, Sweden coming distant second. Actually that hilarious drunk finnish jazz-playing man is my dad.
    I understand everyone laughs at those people but I can tell you a fun fact he’s a decent and the most loving father.
    He adores music - as you can see - and he actually had couple of bands with his friends in Rauma and people in town loved them back in the days.
    You know what they say about artistic minds? They like to have some wine. Ha ha.
    But the truth is better than he’s just a drunk man to laugh at.
    He had a job: every day people in Rauma are walking on streets he was making and watching trees he planted for example He had a family, me included, but bad things happened to him. I can tell more if someone is interested (like the bullies could learn more). Life just punched him straight in to the face and he chose to drink that pain away.
    Still the most loving person in the world and I won’t take any rude comments about him 🥰
    Here was some extra details for this vid at he same time I guess 😇 And please y’all keep treating people good, you don’t know their story behind. I know someone is probably laughing at me too now because this whining but this hurt me a bit so 🤷🏼‍♀️
