Hi Tim. I’ve been caught on the highway coming home at 3:00 AM from work with sudden cold temperatures. Here in Northern Alberta if you get caught in unexpected cold weather we stop into a gas station to pickup a newspaper. Open the paper and place it against your chest inside of your cycle jacket lengthwise. Cover your throat and as much of your chest area. This definitely stops the windchill and will let you ride on. The paper needs to be newsprint. Enjoy.
A great tip to our Southern friends! At first reading your comment I was thinking, "Doesn't everyone know this?". Then it occurred to me that a lot of people do not live/ride in Canada where you wear shorts, sandals, and a t-shirt during the day and a parkas, boots, and a toques at night. LOL.
I’m watching but it’s tough… So good to see you out again!!!!! I do feel sick that I got snowed in and missed this hard to watch lol. Awesome video man so good to see you out and about I LOVE IT!
I can’t tell you how good it is to see you out on the road motocamping again! You inspired me to do this with your National Parks tour and it’s become a true love of mine. Ride safe and please keep the content coming if you can 🙏🏼
Good to see you out on the road again. As someone watching from the UK who has never been to the USA, it is hard to see open desert and clear blue skies and to realise it is cold, the assumption is that it is baking hot... after all, it's a desert. Looking forwards to seeing the rest of the trip.
Hey, Tim! I’ve been watching for years, always been a fan. Sure is great to see you out there, and this video has made my “wishlist” destinations, both in the van and on the bike! Keep it up! Great to “see” you!
Great to see you back in form! I really enjoyed that video as we have flown down from Canada and rented bikes in the winter. Rode Box Canyon twice and camped at Jumbo Rocks a couple nights. Living the dream.
Thrift stores are a great asset. You can usually find something that'll keep you warm at a price that allows you to discard it when it's no longer needed. Also, a reflectix windshield screen is compact but adds R value to your sleeping pad. Be safe.
Couple years ago my son and I moto camped at the far end of box canyon. Rode through Joshua Tree to Box. Was close to road but no traffic at night. From camp we could just see the sea. Then road The Bradshaw trail to the Colorado river great camp spot just south of Blythe. The Bradshaw may be a bit to sandy for a big bike we did it on dualsports. Also camped in the spot just across from where you camped at Salton Sea. Your riding my stomping grounds. Thanks for the video.
Had a nasty crash on the track (broken bones: grr), sitting on my sofa watching your movie .... clear sky .... your hiking .... the environment, and your comment gives me a boost. Always happy to watch one of your videos. And this one, the sound, man, even the cold you subscribe, still envy your nice camping trip. Happy days Time :)
Ive piggy backed on a few comments but thought I would write my own. ….. Real nice to see you out and about! The video has a quiet, adventurous, positive feel to it. I Though it was awesome you rolled the dice and got a perfect site. Glad you are riding again, hiking about and enjoying it all. Keep up the content - motorcycle camping is a band of good people. Keep it up, sniffles or no sniffles!! I hope to get out west but only time will tell, your videos keep spurring the interest though.
Love that area as well. One of my first long moto trips started in the bay area and went to Yuma AZ by way of Death valley, Mojave desert, Joshua tree, Salton Sea etc. It was in January the first year of COVID and like you I froze my arse off even with tons of layers, but well worth it for the stark beauty, remote quietness, and amazing roads and scenery. Good stuff. Keep the rubber side down.
The last US motorcycle off road was from Alaska to the Southern tip of South America and return to Miles City Montana. He rode a used BMW with few issues.
Tim, so glad to see you back out and making camping videos! I rode through Joshua Tree NP in May, 2021 during my 6733 mile solo cross-country trip from South Carolina to San Diego, visiting 9 national parks along the way. This was a bucket list trip.... check! Just got back from Key West yesterday, had perfect weather and went with 2 good friends... another bucket list trip... check! Looking forward to seeing more of your posts. You have been one of my and my wife's favorites for a couple of years. Your videos were inspirational to me while planning my first cross country trip, thanks! All the best!
You can also try wear a vest under or over your jacket. A leather vest over your jacket will knock the wind off . If its getting that cold and you hit rain your gonna be screwed. The problem with a motorcycle you cant carry everything you want and it does not provide shelter like a car/truck.
Tim, so great to see you on the bike and enjoying these awesome places! I am glad Cody stayed safe - it was sad he couldn't join you, but I'm glad you pushed on to check out Box Canyon. I too love the music! hugs from Colorado - Nancy
Live it, bro. Make sure you rock some Kyuss while you are in the area. That's the soundtrack. Blues For The Red Sun is a nice LP. A wild adventure would be to find Sky Valley outside of Palm Desert.. home of the infamous Nude Bowl.. a former swimming pool of a long gone nudist colony.. now a legendary skate bowl. Watch them scorpions. Kyuss used to play generator parties out there. Have a blast.
I used this winter to order all my camping gear, and now l can't wait to go for my first camping trip. It was a little bit funny to see that it only took you few seconds to blow up your mattress, because one of the necessities that l felt l needed to buy was a small electric pump 🤔
Welcome back Tim. We have driven past Joshua Tree so many times and have never gone in. Now we have to. Thank you for these types of videos. We follow other moto YpuTubers and so many get stuck on doing bike reviews and comparisons. It’s nice to see nature and camping again from ya.
It's GREAT to see you're back on the road again making videos, Tim!! However, as a videographer, I think you should have a clear and clean windscreen. 🙂
Nice video Tim. This is the kind of good old fashioned motocamping video that inspires us to get out there. Next time you are in my area near Joshua Tree let me know. If we can't share a campfire, maybe we can at least share some tacos. That goes for you too, Cody! Ride safe.
40 degrees is usually my cutoff for riding unless I know it's gonna be a really nice day out, but below that and I'm not much of a fan. Beautiful area and will visit soon 👍

That works really well for bicycle riders also.
that's good tip, thank you
That is an excellent tip! Thank you
Thanks for posting this man! That's a clever one that I'll definitely add to my list of tricks. Basically a wind barrier... super cool tip.
A great tip to our Southern friends!

Glad to see you back out on the bike Tim! I love your camping videos.
Thanks its great to be back on the bike
I’m watching but it’s tough…
So good to see you out again!!!!!
I do feel sick that I got snowed in and missed this hard to watch lol.
Awesome video man so good to see you out and about I LOVE IT!
Joshua Tree is on my “must ride” list. Thanks for getting my travel itch that much itchier 👍🏻
Cheers Tim.
There you go Tim! That’s the type of videos we all missed! Good to see you back on the bike and adventuring.
I can’t tell you how good it is to see you out on the road motocamping again! You inspired me to do this with your National Parks tour and it’s become a true love of mine. Ride safe and please keep the content coming if you can 🙏🏼
Great to see more travel content from you!
It’s great to see you back on the road Tim. I laughed when the park attendant ask “ no hook up?”
Amazing video. One of my favorite national parks. You got lucky with that campsite. Perfect.
Laid up after surgery.... glad you're out and about. Good therapy for me!
I absolutely adore Joshua Tree! Thanks for sharing Tim!

Ride Safe!
A simple "thank you", I needed this.

Great to see you back in form! I really enjoyed that video as we have flown down from Canada and rented bikes in the winter. Rode Box Canyon twice and camped at Jumbo Rocks a couple nights. Living the dream.
Love that Joshua Tree park, been there a couple times. And it’s miserable riding when you’re cold, been there done that!

My pad is pretty thin, you might need one for a bigger sleeping pad
@@FTAAdventures mine is as thin as yours. I will probably wake up early 😂

Joshua Tree is such a unique and interesting place. Thanks for sharing your adventure.
Great to see you out riding and exploring. We are excited to get out west!

Great to see your ride content again. Quality all around. Riding cold is no fun. Recent 500 miles in 50 degrees made me think….heated vest next time.
Happy trails brother, thanks for sharing the vid
I've always wanted to check that place out, great video thanks for sharing!!
New helmet? Nice, love mine. Actually just repainted it. Was getting a bit scratched up. Turned out awesome. Bummer Cody couldnt make it.
