Nathan Graves is a vampire hunter trying to save his master, Morris, from the clutches of Dracula. Normally this would require collecting lots of different items as well as hours of leveling, but Cardboard proves collectible cards passé by gathering almost none of the cards required for spells and blazing through the game at warp speed without regard to levels or his own safety.
This movie is a 10.5 second improvement over the author's previous ( tasvideos.org/821M ) movie through various small & thorough optimizations.

The major gripe with this game was that you had to double-tap the d-pad to run. Second gripe was finding the cards you need when you don't know what enemy drops it.
Of all the complaints about this game, the double-tapping is the only problem that actually bothered me.
I just checked, and there's a rom hack that makes you always dash. Coincidentally enough, it just came out two weeks ago.
If I ever get the itch to play CotM again, I'm definitely grabbing it.

wow this is the highest quality speedrun I have seen for this game, I hate how unpopular it is and how few people run it. Nice work.
Andoc I dont think its that, otherwise aria would also be trash with that logic, I think this game is very poor in many aspects, the card system really uninteresting, no other weapon other than the whip, generic in many aspects, bosses that are very boring, the list goes on. Only thing that can save this game is the soundtrack, a very good one for that matter. Final comments for this game? The most generic of the metroidvanias and worst in my eyes, I would rather play and 100% harmony of dissonance than this, and I fucking despise that crap. But that game at the very least can be enjoyable, but this? I dont think so.

This was my first 2D Castlevania game and honestly it's still my favorite. I loved everything about this one. And fun fact: A common complaint when it came out was it was too dark and difficult to see, a problem that was thankfully solved with the release of the Game Boy Advance SP. That rechargeable battery and back-lit screen was a pretty big deal back then 😄
I wish you could do this level of RNG manipulation normally.

I never bothered to attempt the Underground Waterway without Cleansing. I stepped into a few rooms on the first run, and it looked too annoying to complete.
I also wished I would have known about the DSS glitch a bit sooner.
Now that I think about it, skipping the Underground Warehouse means skipping the best rendition of Clockwork Mansion. I'm not sure I could have done that consciously.
We didnt know there was a cleansing ring. So young me and my bro went to the water place without it. We finished but it took a long time.
I don't think it was meant to be. You can clear the poison water if you have enough potions though.
The entirety of Chapel Tower was so stressful to watch lmao

I went out of my way to get rid of every enemy on screen atleast once and it only ends up with a one level different from a TAS that only fought like 20 monsters excluding bosses by the end game

Damn this takes me like 4.5 hours total to complete... would be really cool if instead of save rooms, use hidden room with max HP or MP stratigically to recover

That's RNG manipulation for you. Normally it's supposed to only happen like 1/100 bone tosses, which normally only do 1 damage.
