The Church: Jonathan, this will be an arduous mission. Take your Vampire Killer and Charlotte with you to defeat Dracula. Jonathan: No thanks, I'll just take Axe Armor's armor and axe. I'll be fine, trust me!

"They replaced me?! I will not stand for this!" - This axe armor. He didn't stand for it, he vibrated across the floor and destroyed just about all of the portraits for it.
Apparently the older version of Maria is inside the armor, which is why Astarte can't mind control her. Also she has a really deep voice in this armor for some reason. Side note, where the fuck was the hint on how to unlock this in game? Like, who the fuck was actually going to go into the arena and fight this one room of old axe armors over and over again by accident?
IGA hates dash cancelling so much I'm surprised he didn't allow Miriam to run in Bloodstained. Nathan's running imput in Circle of the Moon is clunky because it's a very early GBA title but his movement speed is actually both dynamic and super comfy to play with once you plug in a controller.
I think it's a lost battle. From what i've seen, in pretty much any game that involves motion in some way, speedrunners have found an unconventional, unnecessarily complicated, but still faster way of moving. FOR .EVERY. GAME. Platforming, Open world, ANY game.
