You do not know how much I enjoy watching you cook I have to walk with a cane and I cannot cook like I used too I am 80 years old I remember cooking like you do Take care may God bless you real good
I just want to take the time to thank Melissa for always providing a written recipe. I’m sure that is a lot of work on her part but much appreciated by subscribers. Trust me, there are lots of channels that don’t do this. A huge thanks! I enjoy this channel very much. I just bought all ingredients to make his “worlds best brownies” recipe. I haven’t watched that video in a bit and I’m wondering whether I need to make the espresso or just use the unmade. I’ll go back and watch it again which I normally do anyway. Their recipes are by far the best I’ve seen! So thanks guys! Go subscribe and always thumbs up! You won’t ever be sorry you did! Another thing, share, this way you will always have the recipe. If you share it to yourself.
Just add the powder. That will really enhance the flavor. We so appreciate your nice comments. I know I like written directions so I like to provide what I want in a video when we make them. Thanks again for your support and encouragement.
We definitely put this on top of the hot dog sauce we make. Let me share that video link with you: studio.th-cam.com/users/videodbkEb1_zS7U/edit Have a wonderful night!
❤whoooohooooo, another WONDERFUL dish to take to Mom's tomorrow!!! Thank you both and may God Bless!!! Hope you both are living the dream in Florida!! ❤ Much LOVE from East Tennessee ❤️ ❤❤ Ms. C
Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us! One of my favorite foods is cole slaw!!! I love the cole slaw with either the vinegar or pickle juice but also live the pineapple cole slaw. I guess it's what you are eating along with the cole slaw. Fried fish & hushpuppies, fried chicken, turkey, grilled cheese and soup or even on a hamburger! I really love KFC's cole slaw. And I actually got a slaw from a Walmart deli once that was so delicious! Anyway, I have always made my own cole slaw from scratch. I remember sitting on the kitchen counter when I was 8 and my Mother using her Kitchen Aid to grate the cabbage and carrots. I couldn't wait til dinner to eat her cole slaw! We always made our own pickles with the cucumbers that my precious Dad grew. Everything we ate was home grown! I would give anything to go back to those beautiful times! I thank you so much! God bless you! ❤😉💞🙏😘
I made Coleslaw from memory exactly like this over ten years ago, then forgot how I did it. This show helps me remember the ingredients/ratios so I can start making it, again! You two are the greatest help & encouragment for someone who began living alone & just stopped cooking. Thank you and God bless...🇺🇸 👍☕
I buy a bag of angel hair coleslaw at grocery, it's very finely shredded. I don't add onion. I make the dressing; Duke's mayo, apple cider vinegar, celery seed, low sugar ketchup, salt and pepper. Sometimes I add sweet paprika, if I don't have celery seed. I keep the dressing separate. The coleslaw stays crisp, never gets soggy. I sprinkle chopped fresh chives, just before serving. It's great with fried fish, and also on sandwiches. And, by keeping dressing separate, you can use different dressings with it. Love your channel. I'm going to make the Mexican chicken casserole, but I'm using a tasty brand of canned chilli, instead of chicken. So, it's Mexican beef casserole.
Thank you for posting this. The only thing I would leave out it the sugar. I never could wrap my head around sugar in coleslaw dressing or potato salad as well
Another one of your recipes to make! I don't have a cole slaw recipe, and this one looks scrumptious! I think I will buy the celery seed! LOL Will make this at fish fry time, Lent. I enjoy your videos so much. Thank you for all you do for us.
That’s exactly how I make mine and using food processor makes it even better . If we have leftovers good as a side with southern friend chicken, grilled hot dogs, hamburger, ect 😂 Thanks for sharing…
Thank you for just being you Mr. Tom. We are going through alot right now in my family. Please pray for us. I know this Is a food network but your both so wonderfully your selves & caring and christain people, that you calm my sprit and soul. I pray that our Lord blesses your socks off. Do you all remember that saying? Lol.😢love you both. By the way, yes i will bè trying that colslaw dressing lol.
God has been so good to us. I feel like He honestly has already blessed the socks right off of us! We are so grateful. We will certainly keep you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. I'm sorry that your family is having a lot of struggles. I pray for God's peace and blessings to be with you all.
I love finely chopped cole slaw, yours looks delicious. When I was young my Mom added chopped pineapple and baby marshmallows to hers. It was a delightful treat to have it on hot sumner evenings. She and Dad often brought a big bowl to pot luck dinners on Tuesday nites at the church. It goes so well with ham and beans, and BBQ ribs, as well as fish fry and hot dogs. I guess you could have it with lots of things, it brings back many fond memories of days gone by with my family. Nowadays the kids are grown and I usually leave out the marshmallows, but it was a real treat to them too.
I just made this exact recipe but only substituted a 16 ounce bag of coleslaw mix. The mix to dressing ratio is perfect. I included the onion and grated onion and juice. Excellent dressing and recipe! Thanks, Tom and Melissa for sharing. FYI… I live in Lexington
Thank you for the feedback. We appreciate that you made one of our recipes. it's nice to know where you are from. We are actually on our way to Lexington right now to see our daughter and have dinner with some friends from high school. We really enjoy Lexington. It's a nice town.
This is the recipe I grew up with sans onion and celery seed. When people start talking about buttermilk in their slaw I just don't understand. There is one thing that I do that helps with it being watery. I place my grated cabbage in a bowl with a couple teaspoons of salt. Mix it together and let it set about 10 minutes. (With clean hands😊 )I pick it up by handfuls and squeeze the daylights out of it and put it into another bowl. Most of the water can then be discarded. Your slaw will be creamy and won't be watery even the next day. Just make sure you taste it before you add more salt at the end. Most of the salt is washed away by the juice but better safe than sorry.
I never thought of doing that!(It's fustrating having it get watery everytime you make it!) I will try this out & see what happens..Incidentally, I bought a cabbage today to make coleslaw!( talk about perfect timing!) Thanks for the tip.
I had a friend who put radishes and pickles in his cole slaw along with most of what you just used. I think he used a commercial dressing in his though. But he made very good cole slaw. I have found a touch of garlic powder adds a good flavor. Thank you for this video, it was wonderful.
You are so welcome. We were feeding a crowd that night if I'm remembering correctly. Having a bunch of friends over for a fish fry (fish courtesy of my brother). It's a great recipe. But you can cut it in half or use the dressing later.
Love to watch you cook, thank for the wonderful recipes. And thank you so much for posting the recipes in the description box. It’s so hard to write everything down when watching other cooks but with you I always know you have it posted, thank you so much, God Bless you and your wife. Can’t wait to see what else you’d are going to make.
My mom has made pretty much the same dressing for coleslaw as long as I can remember. She doesn’t put the celery seed in it but in later years she has used Red Wine vinegar and that is so much better flavor in my opinion.
A friend of mine used to add half mayonnaise and half ranch dressing and a little bit of sweet pickle relish and juice and chopped green onions in her Coleslaw. I tasted it and it was good. But I like it the way you make yours.
Looks delicious!😋…I really appreciate your attention in detailing your recipes and alternative substitutes we can use👍…I also appreciate your use of the rubber/silicone spatulas…definitely a plus in my book!!!👍😂😂😂
I just made your cream cheese, cinnamon and sugar pastry, I just took it out of the oven, it looks delicious….can’t wait to make this coleslaw, I’m doing a BBQ using your Boston butt bbq recipe in a couple weeks so I’m going to be doing this coleslaw recipe with it, I watch your videos every night, and save them to my email then next day I write them in a notebook I still love the breaded tomato one as a favorite. This looks very good. My sister use to cook the best cole slaw. I use to ask her to fix me a bow for Christmas back in the day, lol. Thumbs up guys. Stay well & safe.
Mine is similar, but I use red wine vinegar, I just love the flavor so much better than apple cider vinegar & I like a lot of vinegar in it balanced by the sugar. It may sound odd, but I also love to add a good bit of horseradish cream sauce. This also helps it stay thicker with the extra vinegar I like. I don't use celery seed, & I can't stand black pepper. This looks delicious. I might cheat and buy the bag of shredded cabbage and carrot from the grocery store, then enhance it with the onion and your dressing! Hello from Canada! Have a good day!
Hello and Happy Labor Day! I wanted to write and THANK YOU for this Coleslaw recipe. This is the closest to my mom's recipe that I've found. She was a wonderful cook - as were her sisters. I grew up in Michigan, but my parents were from the south, and now, we too live in Alabama. Mom taught me how to cook many, many things, but I guess we somehow missed this! I went ahead and splurged on the Celery Seed :) I took a double recipe to our family gathering today (with our kids & grandkids) and it was a hit! As others have said, thank you for all you do - including showing all ingredients at the beginning, and the written out recipe. All in all I have enjoyed you videos thus far, and have made & plan to make many more of your recipes soon. Blessings!
Hi Tom and Melisa. His was other video wit a good recipe. My coleslaw dressing is very much like yours. T think the celery seeds make it. I actually use a little bit more than you do. The other thing I add is about ⅓-½ cup of carnation canned milk in with my mayo and sugar. Once that is all stirred up I add in my vinegar. Amazing thing .... when the vinegar combines with the canned milk it actually thickens the dressing. Kind of like how lemon juice thickens sweetened condensed milk. It's the same principle. The milk addition gives a very smoothie and creamy dressing that won't water down until the third or fourth day. Otherwise our recipes are identical.... well, except for I don't use as much pepper in mine. Like everyone else I love the stories you share. And I like it very much when Melissa chimes in. Problem is often she doesn't speak up enough for us to hear too. Tom, you'll then laugh or comment but we don't know what to. Melissa, please speak up a little so we can be in on the jokes or stories too. I'm still hoping to get your reaction to the comment I made on the Zucchini Pineapple bread about Toms mother's yellow glass juicer. I really thought since he made remarks about it that you guys would find the information interesting. I think I included a link with more info and pictures. I hope you enjoy it.
Loving yall's viedo's. Can you show a easy way for sweet pickled green tomatoes to put up in mason jars. Like they have in fish restaurants. Thank y'all❤
Oh my goodness, I just made and it is absolutely delicious! It was so easy to make with my little Kitchen Aid food chopper. Thanks for sharing your recipe. 😋
I greatly appreciate the this Coleslaw video and the Hotdog Chili video. I'm from South Carolina but moved to São Paulo, Brazil 6 years ago. I'm planning on a nice Roadside Hotdog and fresh French fry stand near my local small town Market here soon. Your recipes are amazingly simple and delicous! Thanks! Alan 🌭
Yinz are my new fav TH-cam cooking channel. I'm so glad the algorithm was working for me today :-) My family is not big on coleslaw, but every time I have the opportunity to taste it, I do. I figure eventually I am going to find a winning one and hopefully be able to get the recipe for it. I'm going to give yours a try. After watching your hot dog sauce video and seeing you make the West Virginia dog, I knew I had to try it just like you made it. Thanks for filming this.

I love a good Cole slaw and that looks great! Thank you so much for this recipe!
