First Time RV Camping at a Rest Stop Parking Lot! - Electrical Issues And a Horrible Nights Sleep 😭

- We failed to book any RV campsites for the night, so we drove to the nearest rest stop in Delaware for another free overnight stay in a parking lot! But things didn't end up going according to plan 😅 Do they ever??

While you guys were looking for something to cover up your eyes, you had 2 perfectly great hats that you can just... cover your eyes with, on your heads! LOL!! And when using that and closing your eyes, it can get pretty pretty... prettyyyyyyy dark. :P
Those aren't fuses on the panel, they're airplane-style circuit breakers. If they pop out, you push them back in to reset
And they are pulled out to open them

Good film. Can't help thinking you make life hard for yourselves at times, but each to their own. I thought your overnight spot was perfect - and free. In fact, it was better than some of the campgrounds you've paid a fortune for! Point it south and keep going. Happy New Year!
It was definitely more private and quiet than many sites we've stayed in 😅 If the lights had turned off, it would have actually been a pretty relaxing stay!
Right? Every single problem here was self inflicted. They let their vehicles run out of gas at night, they did not understand the electrical system of their own vehicle, did not secure a spot for the evening before night etc. They are their own worst enemy, good thing they laugh through it all LOL
Add basil after cooking your pizza not before. Much better.

I love your positive attitude. But honestly, what you guys deal with, pretty regularly, would keep me away from living an RV lifestyle. I love my forced air heating and a warm comfy bed without worrying about who's camping next to me. You guys are amazing and I give you both credit for living your life and trying something most of us wouldn't have the courage to do. Stay safe & warm.
Cheap trick for a more comfortable eye cover… a dark tank top or tshirt. Works fantastic 🤩

Newbie here with a travel-trailer. You guys are giving me courage for our first up-coming big trip ! Sorry you didn’t make a stop in our gorgeous Maryland. We are small but our state parks are some of the best around - from the mountains to the sea !

I live in Maryland and as you got closer and closer to the state the more excited I would get. After the video.... a drive through with a mention of MD..... I was highly upset. I was looking forward to seeing where you all went in Maryland along with the food.

Ya, that was definitely not our intention to fly through. We didn't explain very well in the video, but we'd already booked an Airbnb in Virginia and just got too behind to do any major stop on our drive there. We'll definitely come back at some point. I'd love to try to track down where I lived when I was born and do some fun coastal things. We'll have to come back in warmer weather when we can really get out and explore 🙌

Lynchburg has some neat walking trails. They have one that goes through an old rail tunnel. We always stop on our way to Charlottesville.
What a crazy rest area! That place is amazing, I kinda need to go there now.
Love the truck. I’ve got a 97. Power stroke I actually ordered the truck new. You guys seem very positive. We spent many nights in rest areas in our camper.

I don’t know how in the world you two can keep up the positive attitude. When my husband and I travel in our RV we do pretty good the first couple of weeks. But after we have blow outs, and other mechanical problems we are ready for home. Take care you two.

You're going to love Lynchburg! My boyfriend and I lived near that area for a few months for work and loved it! Not sure if you guys are still there, if you're into hiking, and how the weather is over there now, but I highly recommend hiking the Three Peaks of Otter! Sharp Top is one of my favorite hikes :) Safe travels!

Great welcome center - when I travel that way it's my 1st stop to make a bathroom run and coffee (sadly its only 1hr away from my house so it is a bit close for a break :-)

Your channel have become one of those reality TV shows where you feel good about yourself. Your between Jersey Shore and Survivor
Sometimes it does help to totally turn the battery off. Then when you turn it back on again, it kind or resets the system and your switched will work again. It's easy to think of it as a hardware problem, but instead think of it more like a software problem. Treat the switches like a computer that's frozen (which is what they are) Just restart/reboot!

Hey guys, I'm enjoying your videos. When you park in a parking lot look around for an area you won't take up so many spots. When you did your overhead, there were quite a few spots that appeared to be made for a rig like yours.
Unfortunately our rig is too long to pull through normal spots, so we have to park sideways, otherwise we'd block full driving lanes. We always choose spots furthest in the back away from busy entrances/exits 👍

You guys have had so many issues with this Black Series. It doesn't make that brand sound too good. It shouldn't be costing you anything for this stuff to get fixed. It should be under warranty.

not sure if anyone's mentioned this or you've already heard about it from research but there are a bunch of Love's travel centers that have spaces specifically for RVs. not a ton, not in every state, but worth looking into for the future. i think the prices vary depending on the location, but the one i stayed in and some of the others i've researched seem reasonable for a one night stay w/electricity and water hookups. i've only stayed in one but i felt incredibly safe. and the convenience of a gas station across the way is really nice.
With the pumps closed and it being so insanely cold around Christmas I was afraid that you might have experienced frozen diesel (when it gets too cold it jells and won't flow). I was so glad when your truck started right up in the morning! Happy New Year and safe travels!

We had a travel trailer(s) for years. Your RV should have propane? Then a better isolated from the trucks battery. That’s there will keep you warm all night. Do you have a equalized hitch? I thought I saw a little dip in the middle. I see you using a diesel heater. They cool. I suggest multiple means of heat.

Parking lots can be hard. The first night on our year trip was spent in a Les Schwab parking lot. We had two blowouts on our first leg. Well, our trailer had only one spare so that was an experience. We didn’t sleep well either. There was. Train track about 100 yards from where we parked.
I hope it doesn't cost too much to get the electrical stuff fixed in your trailer. Oh, by the way, Happy New Year!
I’ve been there before when I was driving truck picked up paper at the printing place just outside of town. It’s a cool little town nestled in the mountains I don’t think I was ever there much of it was day time.
Kiddos, all that angst about eye masks when you are both wearing knit caps that would pull down over the eyes quite nicely. Hang in there and do have a very most excellent New Year.

Thanks! We did finally end up figuring it out - we'll chat about it in an upcoming video, but turns out it was an insanely easy fix. 🙈 And omg, we loved Lynchburg! If that crazy winter storm weren't on the way, we had tons of Virginia plans. We'll for sure have to go back in warmer weather 😍
