Get a parts list of EVERYTHING that they changed and keep it in the camper…it will allow the next mechanic to work on to know what was changed….they will thank you (makes their job MUCH easier).

@@handyj5700 yes I know…but without a parts list the next tech that works on it won’t know what other parts were changed(what year engine, what computer is controling the fuel injection)…it’s not like they can look at the tag and get that information….whenever you modify a vehicle it’s always a good idea to keep a parts list for the next person who works on it (or owns it for that matter)

You are very patient, that garage is taking so long to complete the work, they are taking the piss, and as for not covering the engine compartment to stop animals getting inside, that just shows they have zero customer consideration, they need a good enima to sort them out.

Heads up! We bought a new ? Rebuild engine, not long after the Big C. , please watch the heat gage, and everything else. There’s a lot of problems with them , because people didn’t want to go back to work then and there’s a lot wrong with them. We had to have ours replaced again. So keep close eye out, and make sure you have good warranty. We’re good now second time with a crate engine. Safe travels and best wishes from two show mes to two more show mes. lol .

It was the shop they are at now…hopefully they got some kind of discount or refund for that original work. The shop seems like a pain to me. They missed stuff with the first job, Clementine got hit by a truck while on the lot, and now seemingly has a critter living it bc it’s left open on an outdoor lot. I hope the shop is giving them a good warranty at least.

I can't fathom having a car or camper at the mechanic for that long. It surprised me when the Beans had theirs at the mechanics for that long as well. Here in the Netherlands you make an appointment and they usually have the work done the following day or like three days at a maximum giving you a replacement vehicle in the meantime. What 's up with mechanics in the states that it would take that long?

  • @petesperfectpod

Wasn’t there some kind of contract that said something like “Work to be completed within 6 month period”? They’re only putting a new engine in, should take a week at max. I wouldn’t trust them to organise a piss-up in a brewery having watched this. I would suggest finding someone who knows what they are doing, because these people are just taking you for a ride. You need to sue them for damages to the RV also. It’s terrible.

  • @rebeccarendle3706
    @rebeccarendle3706 ปีที่แล้ว +64

I would totally stress about the animal issue in Clementine. Can't the garage guys just put the cover over when they aren't working? They don't need to screw it in, just place it over to stop animals going in around the motor. If the critters go up on your bed and pee on the mattress 😭...and in a few months they can do so much more damage to the back.

    • @JoeandEmmaLee

First let me say my wife and I have loved watching all your videos for many years traveling and we both hope the best for both of you. However we both feel you are being played by the company that has been working on Clementine considering how long it has taken and yet still is not working to standards. I just hope they are not charging you more to install this new engine as they should have been held by law to make certain the last engine worked. Hate to say it but I would not doubt if you have to bring in an Attorney to resolve this for Clementine which is so sad as we all are hoping to still see her back on the roads. No matter what, we wish the best for both of you....

Clementine is a wonderful travel trailer and it should be ready to be on the road after Christmas. Stay safe. Walk in Peace.

Can I just say, at the risk of sounding creepy, Eric your hair in the opening scene was epic! Totaly different look for you, kinda like Jake Gillenhall! Glad Clem is going to be ready to hit the road again after such a long time! Enjoy your holidays!

So glad to hear there is some progress on clementine. Maine is definitely too cold for winter. I recommend moss Utah or Nevada this time if year for camping in an rv. Hope you find someplace reasonably priced for the meantime

Just DON’T use the overdrive while towing ruby…..you will overheat the transmission if you do

Your Endless Adventures have now become part of our lives! Always in anticipation with each of your episodes. Just love every aspect of seeing your experiences in all your different camping, travelling styles. Learning so much of USA through your eyes as well. We’re caravaners in Australia and can identify so much with you, though I think you guys were very brave camping in Maine in the freezing cold! Good luck with Clementine too but enjoy all those alternative arrangements! Never a dull moment! Jo

Thanks, Jo! We've hated having Clementine in the shop so much, but we're loving all the random experiences it's forced us to have. Hopefully one day we can get over to Australia for a road trip - we definitely didn't see enough last time we visited 😍

I would've rebuilt the old engine & switched it to propane. They were tougher & easier to repair than the new ones. I know the fuel economy might be slightly less than fuel injected engines but us old mechanics can fix them easily without a computer to tell us what to do. KISS!!! (Keep it simple stupid).

Glad to see they are almost done swapping in the new motor! Having a modern LS with an ECU will do wonders, I really doubt you'll have any more issues related to the drivetrain with that. But I would definitely ask them if they can re-install the doghouse overnight when they aren't working on it!!

The water pump can cost $200 to $300 alone to replace. A wet flush toilet has a valve that can have water in it. Also all water traps under sinks if not drained can freeze. The most difficult to repair can be water lines that pass through or behind cabinets. They can have a low spot that can retain water and freeze and split open. Blowing out the water system with low pressure air is a good idea and cheap to do. You just need an air adapter that screws in to the "city" water connection. Don,t forget to drain the water heater. Cheaper that filling it with 5 gallons of plumbing anti-freeze. Tom in Canada at the NB-NS border.
