Why on earth should we be thinking with our ethnicity? We are our own people and Hong Kong is its own culture separate from China. It is a hybrid of British and Chinese and engaging in the British does not mean they hate the Chinese or think it's inferior. Just like how I, as a Caribbean, should not be expected to feign affection for Africa solely because of race, Hong Kong people should not be expected to feign affection for China for the same reason. The parts of the British culture that have been accepted into HK culture will be their culture. 99 years of cultural separation doesn't go away and you can't just forcibly purge something that was essentially their culture for nearly a century. Maybe because the whites were not too kind to the locals in the past?
It's hong kong and Scotland commom-law situation without China government involvement at all. Even Allen's that I can't see again I will honor of him as my husband's.

No guzheng?
So sad
Bagpipes aren't even originally Scottish. They first appeared in Anatolia. They then spread throughout Europe. So maybe its the bagpipes that have colonized the world.
one the brits fix priblems at the homeland, they will be back to free hong kong

Colonial Hangover
That's a pretty simplistic creative way of describing this.
Bro it's just bagpipes, there's nothing wrong with appreciating something from a culture from your colonizers
bagpipes are practically imported from north africa and iberia
the Scottish bagpipes are more famous because of scotland is part of the united kingdom
When will our brothers and sisters in Hong Kong get over their colonizers? The stockholm syndrome is shocking

Feeling of being enslaved....can't you shake that off.... it's not Hong Kong tradition to begin with....
But many HK people feel being enslaved by china.
@@MultiDivebomber That's the problem of their mindset....look at that guy wearing skirt and blowing the bagpipes... that's not the original culture or tradition of Hong Kong.... Those HK people that fight for freedom but they're the one who prison themselves for decades....

I think It was the British Raj not the British Empire by the looks of 0:45
A lot of Indian troops from the time of the Raj were posted in Hong Kong.
How sad is this🤣🤣🤣 This is what Caucasian propaganda does... These people actually think they are British. I would be so embarrassed
Nah I’m pretty sure they just really like the funny looking instrument and absorbed it into their culture

Fake news. Only violent rioters and their financiers get their toys banned. Rest of us proudly respect our old traditions while moving forward.

keep on blowing for your master
colonial legecies were so dangeours that makes you think your own ethnic/blood peoples were inferior than your master and make them play a divide & rule policy. this video was exactly that hongkongers simply cant get over their mental colonization. same things happens with INDIA as well
Why on earth should we be thinking with our ethnicity? We are our own people and Hong Kong is its own culture separate from China. It is a hybrid of British and Chinese and engaging in the British does not mean they hate the Chinese or think it's inferior. Just like how I, as a Caribbean, should not be expected to feign affection for Africa solely because of race, Hong Kong people should not be expected to feign affection for China for the same reason.
We should be trying to move on from such racialist and ethnicist attitudes, not trying to resurrect them. If anything, you're the one with the inferiority complex if you can't comprehend that people can genuinely like cultures that aren't completely ancestral
@@jl63023 you as a carribbean doesn't have feign for africa cuz you might doesn't even know from which piece of land your ancestors were forced to migrate to carribbean for slavery. Also africa was an entire continent with diverse and different cultures, whereas china a nation dont know how did you compared both anyways. Also carribbean hardly use any native african languages other than English so culture of african ethnic peoples living in US carribbean and any other land during age if slavery literally lost their culture. Where as for Hong kong - china situation were very diff. Dont always compare every situation with each other it might looks same but its absolutely not.
@@Debarghaya_Mukherjee In my defense, I have seen people in prominent positions in my own region say similar remarks that "black people should reject colonial culture and restore African identity" by going all in and whatever African originated aspects remained. So, of course I imagined the situation would be somewhat similar but I guess I was mistaken with regard to the degree. But overall, it is still a case of hybridized culture. The parts of the British culture that have been accepted into HK culture will be their culture. 99 years of cultural separation doesn't go away and you can't just forcibly purge something that was essentially their culture for nearly a century. It would be wise to just accept that HK will never be (fully) Chinese culturally and will be its own unit from the mainland.
@@jl63023 Sure you’re right but didn’t we see Hong Kong protesters beat up those citizens who supported China. That’s not democracy or tolerance for others who see things differently.

I trust England should leased a state for 100 years like Hong Kong where china can rule exclusively having PLA style of military parade. Then it would be fair for both countries.
