Unique to the Testudo™, it is capable of accommodating either 10” x 12”, or large 11” X 14” body armor of any type. Each side is removable for user-adjustable level of retention and comfort, compatible with or without cummerbund installed. We retain a lightweight and durable profile by using genuine 500D Cordura nylon for construction. Strategic lower-offset rear shoulder mounts position the rear plate pocket higher, alleviating the traditional “low hanging” rear plate pocket as seen on carriers that lost sight of proper armor placement. Inner plate retention straps on both pockets further ensure ideal body armor ride height for optimal vital coverage.
3D Mesh Technology dramatically increases ventilation and air-flow for a cooling and comfort improving effect, located on both body facing inner linings, and the removable shoulder pads. Shoulder pads also feature our tri-loop guides and attachment points. Soft loop Velcro lines all webbed sections for added versatility and mounting options. The heavy duty drag handle is fortified by engaging down the rear portion of the plate carrier. Reinforced Bar-tack, double, and double backed stitching throughout contract durability.
Dual admin pockets increase storage capacity, both featuring Hypalon easy-to-grip pull tabs for reliable access. The upper admin pocket features elastic divider retention straps while the lower is designed to accommodate our improved Kangaroo magazine pouch insert. Impact resistant buckles are manufactured in the USA and add at least four toughness points in critical areas.
The Testudo™ cummerbund front flap boasts generous Hypalon tabs for easy actuation and adjustment. Fully adjustable for girth and larger frames, the cummerbund has been reinforced with Hypalon eyelet pass-throughs and heavy-duty shock cord, allowing optimal expansion and retention when adjusted. I just ordered this carrier with some plates and pouches. I spent hours days for a few weeks doing my research before I spent my money. I went to a few gun shops and tried on some carriers some plates. I could’ve bought some plates on the spot in store. I could have ordered from another company that said they were in stock ships immediately but I decided to go with AR 500 for a reason. Probably the same reasons everyone I was just chose your company. I know you guys are pumping them out as fast as you can while keeping your quality at the same time. It’s just common sense if you guys could pump more out you would make more money. The wife got me one of these as a Christmas present, and I'm loving it. Fit pretty good right out of the box, an adjustment to the cummerbund got me fitting up properly. Currently running the SOB IFAK on the back panel, but will be moving it to a battle belt, going to put a hydration pouch/backpack in it's place. Digging the products, and the videos
May get a Veritas light for the trunk as a piece of "get home" gear.
I just received mine. Great quality. This is my second AR500 carrier. No disappointments.

Appreciate you guys putting stress on the market at affordable ranges with solid quality. For too long plate carriers were way over priced. Good design doesn’t warrant ridiculous profit margins. Glad to see you guys putting the consumers first!

Just ordered mine from AR500 this morning. I've owned a Blackhawk in the past but really like this one. It comes with good reviews.
Ty: I have two Testudo's with full load out Taco's plus med kits,Kangaroo's etc. The only thing i would prefer is the credit card being charged when the delivery has sent out in stead of when ordered. I do have to say you guy's take care of business if there are any mistakes made. You took care of me during Black Friday i under stand how crazy it must be. Great product!
Keep an eye out for this during Black Friday. I got the testudo plate carrier + 2 level III curved plates for $190 total last year during the Thanksgiving sales.

Me too. How’s delivery running? It said six weeks on the plates when I ordered last week. I hope it doesn’t turn into 20 weeks like another guy said he’s been waiting. I scratched and clawed and fought to carve out enough money to buy this. I hope I’m wearing mine in the six weeks advertised. I’m a retired veteran and it’s tight living on a fixed income.. $650 is a big pinch for a disabled veteran.

I bought two and plan on buying a 3rd. The wait time is worth it and the simple fact they have a wait time/back-order lets you know there's some quality going on. I wish the woodland was still available. I liked the Space Force MARS red one but that woodland was perfect.

How long did it take to get?
Just ordered my first carrier(this one) in black if only the fully loaded one was in stock or just the black pouches to buy separately but I know how things go. It says 8 to 12 weeks but I hope it will be faster than that, you really cant beat this deal I even got my in-laws to buy a set(both vets) so the whole family is gonna be suited up.
Got the Gen2. Two more days!!! Honestly if anyone’s concerned about the back order. they been on top of it since I figured covid hit and everyone needs money. Ordered it March 3rd/21 and it’s says estimated delivery March 31st 2021. Will give a update in about 2 days!🤙🏽 can’t wait to condition in it and do rucks.
Edited: 4 weeks back order on the carrier it’s self. Plates no back order but depends on supply and demand on plates.
After watching Reno May’s video, I’ll admit I was dissuaded to buy AR500 armor but after reading your comments in response to his video, I’m sold!

@@AR500Armor I doubt TH-cam is a good format to ask but is a trauma pad even necessary in conjunction with your build-up coating? Or can you have build-up coating without a trauma pad or vise-versa?
We do recommend it, the build up coat is good for catching spall and frag whereas the trauma pad is for preventing the blunt force trauma your body would feel from the impact of the bullet. Check out our video on Trauma pads here: th-cam.com/video/-I8k-YxIza4/w-d-xo.html

You guys should do load outs on them... for new guys like me
a good load out for a plate carrier is loaded mags (at least 3) and a bleeder/blowout kit. at least that's what i keep on mine. i have 3 loaded rifle mags and a bleeder/blowout kit. i MIGHT add a multitool and a flashlight...but i'm still undecided on that.
for now...
something to prevent holes (in me)
something to create holes (in a bad person)
something to fix holes (if #1 fails)

Got it. But bought black, thinking that would be best since I'm not a military guy. But it's darn hot, so used Rustoleum camo paint to go to sand color. Yeah, not best solution, but I'll see how long that lasts. Live and learn.
Was looking to get the lower profile Veritas and shooter cut plates, but with base coat only and build up currently not available on steel plates, I was not comfortable. I still bought the +3 shooters cut AR500 plates but made the carrier the Testudo for bullet fragmentation capture options.

In the past I purchased the night stand armor vest and it was freaking great. I’m about to purchase this setup soon. The only problem I have is the long wait times. I know quality gear takes time to make but damn!! 17 weeks?

Does The invictus drag Handle go down the carrier like the testudo?
Been wearing mine alot, I have to say... It's great if you replace the shoulder pads. I highly recommend HSGI WEE shoulders.. Changed the entire feel and weight distribution and only cost about 25-30$ USD. I KNOW I'm not the only one that hates these shoulder pads because I have friends who bought carriers from Ar500's website.. They all have the same complaint. Easily fixed but shouldn't be necessary.

I just got MINE 😍 well worth the wait time. Glad I jumped on their November sale early. The ONLY thing I can say is "WOW" worth it. First thing I did was set my pouches up tried it on, rearranged somethings, best From: Me To:Me present in a few yrs(besides the PWS 7.62X39MM) went with the olive drab. My suggestion to everyone if you want a Plate carrier better get it before 20Jan21 if things are going the way it is.

@@AR500Armor there is one thing you guys should do, make mag. Pouches for the M1A. I have the cqb version and its ruff to find mag. Pouches for them. I know Alot for guys that run that weapon system and you guys could be their hero's if you can make a good one. 👌😘

Buy the Safelife FRAS Armor panel to go under any carrier. When AR500 makes something along that line For less then a $1000 I’ll be thoroughly impressed. And I’ll buy 2.

I just bought the testudo gen 2 multicam at my LGS and I'm just deciding on what plates to run. Not wanting to deal with lead times as I'm seeing all companies are running 3 months plus I came across some point blank paraclete level 4 triple curve plates for 275 shipped and that's for 2 plates

Im leaning towards the Veritas Lite or the Invictus carrier. They're both what i like which is a less bulky carrier. More low profile than the Testudo . Im watching all these videos before i hit the "purchase" square on my screen. They're both really desirable.
With this one you can remove the side armor and it less bulky and less weight maybe something you would like 😊
And it would be just straps
But know that it will take 5 years for you to receive your purchase. Only have 1/2 of my purchased items since I ordered around Christmas of 2019. I had a "lead time" of 7-8 weeks. I'm at 6 months now f waiting for the rest of my purchase

What the different between this and the lite ?
So if you have two level 3+ plates would you have any added benefit from putting soft armor in front or back of it or will it be no use since if it makes it through steel it will most likely get through soft armor as well after
Your better off just running the soft armor
I called AR500 and was told to run the Testudo if I want to use ultra high density polyethylene plates since the plates are voluminous but very light weight, i.e. a flotation device. Can you show a video of the Testudo with those ultra high density polyethylene plates so we can see how it fits?
Crye has their maritime carrier for positive buoyancy plates like that. They aren't that much more than the Testudo.
In the plate pouch, what is the function of the velcro near the upper chest and back? Having it attached, it did not allow the plates or trauma pads to fit properly. Thanks in advance for your reply
If talking about a patch of loop Velcro inside the plate the plate pocket...that's likely the adaptive plate insert attachment point.

It doesn't have anything that is specifically for a hydration bladder, but if you got a bladder that was MOLLE compatible, you could attach it to the back of the carrier with no problem.

For weight training? Maybe. We also have training plates that are great alternatives.
This looks like a really nice carrier, although with all the shoulder padding and armor below do they interfere with shouldering a weapon? Doesn’t look like much free real estate for a gun. Comments are welcomed as I am new to armor.
I am new to armor aswell,today I ordered my first carrier(this one with iii+ plates) recently they responded to somone who had the same question you had,they said best way is the shoot is by shouldering a bit higher. I know they do that I’m the military too because they’re carrier can be in the way
So what about big dudes? I'm 6ft 4" and the the fittest I've ever gotten to as am adult is 275. Im just plane a big framed dude who will likely never go much below 275-300. Currently sitting at 335 and working on going down. Does the testudo fit guys like me?

As far as I saw they shoulder straps connected to the front plate. They where close together (some people complained it was cutting into the neck.) new version is further apart. relieving the neck problem.

It's a Velcro patch that is easily removed or replaced!

Buy some lvl4 ceramic side plates from a real body armor manufacturer. But most will tell you that side armor is very uncomfortable. I just run a lvl3a cumberbund insert

You should be fine 👍 If you wanted a size lower, consider the Invictus or even Freeman carrier.
I ordered a helmet on December 13th 2019 still waiting to receive it and after it arrives if it ever does I will not order anything else from ar500 armor.

After 6 months I cancelled my order and asked for a refund which will probably take another 6 months to receive been several weeks already and no refund contacted customer service several times not their fault the company they work for is shit.

Received mine in 10 days.
Took mine 21 weeks and regretted spending the money. The pistol holster is useless, the mag pouches are okay for one 25 rd. .308. I really don't want to wear metal plates all day when Kevlar will do.
