I have been shooting GFX now in Australia for about a year and a half and I absolutely love the system. I actually really love it because it does slow you down and I know that people will compare it to full frame but it's not full frame. these are not run and gun style cameras. They take a methodical process to get the photo right which in today's fast pace world I find it refreshing that there's actually a process to go through before you take the photo. I like that! I have the 50s II and 100s II. I absolutely love the image quality and until you've sat on a computer and pixel peep out of GFX file you won't know what we're talking about but if you have had that opportunity you will soon see what we are talking about. If you stand in front of a really big print from a GFX? You feel like you are standing at the landscape? I've never had a camera like that. A lot of people do complain about the lens choices but if you think about it with the hundred S models and so on you don't need to carry as many lenses because you can crop in just to insane levels in many ways. The system allows you to carry less lenses and that's kinda how I use the cropping is that I don't always need a lens for every situation and still retain a really sharp image. I will not be going back to full frame not on your life. I just love the image quality and the sharpness that these images produce and it sounds like I'm becoming a bit of a medium format snob as one TH-camr joke about. I only have a 16 GB ram MacBook Pro M1 and it's fine. It's a little slow when you're doing stacking or using de noise but other than that it's pretty good. I don't really feel you need to CF Express cards for this system because what are you shooting that needs that? Yes you're gonna need backup storage but seriously if you own a GFX system it's gonna cost you 20 grand for three or four lenses you can afford SSD's. And to also back up Jarrad if anyone wants to ask me questions about GFX from a very experience photographer having used it, please reach out to me on Instagram at nevclarke_artphotography I left a message on your Instagram also Jarred about my thoughts on the camera from an experienced user
Thanks Nev! Yeah my laptop is an M3 Max MacBook Pro with 36gb of memory - handles everything nicely - the main rig is a PC I built back in 2022. Beats the Macbook hands down.
Big thanks to Fuji film for letting me have the opportunity to use this amazing setup on your work shop. I found it very intuitive to use, and sharp!!! The details on another level.
Jarred a couple of your coments were my concerns as well but have proven to be a positive. 1) file size and HDD space, I find I shoot less photos but better quality photos as each photo has to count due to size and space. 2) Costs of GFX and Lens, while my body was brand new all my GF glass was secondhand. However when I compare GF glass to Canons new RF mount I dont see a major price difference. Price difference is more noticable if you compare GF 20-35 to the hassy 20-35 :)
Hah true, that RF glass is pricey. They can at least adapt EF glass with little to no reduction in AF performance though. A lot of quality DSLR lenses have a long life ahead of them still!
@@JarredSpec Still have my 14yr old Canon 1DSmk3 which I use for wildlife / motorsport etc didnt sell up all my canon stuff as cant cover everything in 1 camera.
You’re right - Hadn’t really considered cinema lenses, though I believe the NiSi 14mm has the be shot in crop mode. The Laowa I wouldn’t consider “fast” fast, especially for Astro
Another great video, Mate. The GFX is a tool that can do a fantastic job in what it is designed for but isn't a jack of all trades; as you know, We all want a camera system that can shoot every genre and still be cost-effective.
Yeah for sure. Still this is a system that excels for quite a few genres - Landscapes and studio work in particular. But now with the 100SII & the 500mm I don’t feel like giving wildlife a go every now and then is out of reach for it anymore.
It would be interesting to know if FUJIFILM pays particular attention to the products it provides for reviews. It seems very strange to see such videos and then discover that the reality is full of dissatisfied customers. Does the GFX line have different production processes than the X series? Otherwise you have to worry about future SW updates.
I don’t think anything underhanded is going on. My experience with the GFX system is much like any reviewer - the difference is that as someone who has actually bought into the system, I’ve lived with it. Reviewers get the cameras for a short time and really don’t get a full sense of what it’s like to own. That said, I’m not a dissatisfied customer. Far from it! I’ll be keeping this setup for years to come. The image quality is amazing, the lenses are excellent, but it is not perfect or a system for everyone.
@@JarredSpec thanks for the feedback. I'm also a FUJIFILM user and I'm happy to read that you are satisfied, I would like to be able to say the same after investing in the FUJIFILM system, too bad this is not the case. What seems strange is seeing a large presence of customers dissatisfied with a system that is advertised a lot. Seeing all this emphasis on the retro look and other tactile sensations of the unboxing, emotional story and so on I find it confusing. FUJIFILM needs to solve AF issue.
@@jackrussel9991Where you seeing all these dissatisfied reviews? I’m delightfully in love with my used and ‘old’ GFX system and all of the GFX communities I’m in all love theirs.

@JarredSpec Ye.
Ah , i'm going to need to upgrade my mac eventually
I am a GFX100SII user. Don't forget that burst photos make RAW files go from 16 bits down to 14 Bits. Nice video
Ahh yes! Had the opportunity to play with the 100II back in August. Beast!!!

Was an epic weekend! Still surprised they trusted me with all that stuff!
Great video, Jarred! Would love to have a go with that system.

Regarding fast wide angle lenses, there are the Venus Laowa 19mm f/2.8 and the Nisi Athen 14mm T2.4, 25mm T1.9, and 35mm T1.9.

Have you tried the 30mm tilt shift ?
Nah not yet. Will probably get my hands on it for a play with - but isn’t on my radar for buying at this stage - she’s a a pricy bit of glass!

I’m still on Nikon APS-C 😂 but now I know the secret, I need to knock off a family member with money haha
To be fair my talent level sits at about Poont and shoot - all the gear no idea for life!
