1) thank you for this video. I am patiently waiting for this lens to come in. Right now it says it will be delivered by amazon on this Sunday 12/29. I plan to use it on my Nikon ZF. I ordered a k&f m42 to z mount adapter for it. 2) thank you for letting that cat move in. I have 4 cats right now and all of them are shelter rescue cats. I think animals bring a lot of happiness into our lives and you have a great heart for letting the cat in. I wish you lots of happiness this coming season and I hope you and Oreo have many years of joy ahead.
AHHHHH!!!! Thanks so mucy, Poemfish. Oreo is pure joy - love - inspiration - and more. I can't wait to get him acclimated to the harness and we can have a few adventures with him!
Great light and nature shots! I just ordered this lens to add some fun to my photography. The Zeiss original was a legend at their time and very expensive when new too. I had photography teachers in the 80’s praising Zeiss along with Leica. I’m glad TTartisan brought it back to life. Will couple mine with a GFX or Sony bodies.
Cats are awesome, and so is that lens, and so are the moments you captured with it. I have the TTartisan Bubble Bokeh lens, and love it, plus I have one of the inspirations for this Swirly Bokeh, the Helios 44, 44M in my case with Anamorphic mod. I have been wanting to get an un-modded Helios, but this new TTartisan Swirly Bokeh lens, seems like a better choice. New optics, similar visual output as the Helios. Win Win. Thanks for the video.
I feel ambiguous about swirly bokeh. Some pictures are amazingly beautiful, and some make me feel physically sick. You pictures are wonderful, you really know how to use the lens! And the kitty is lovely :)
I believe you can tighten the torx screws near the base of the lens so it stops rotating. It’s meant to be adjustable so you can orient the lens properly to your preference when adapting it to your camera. Check your lens adapter too since most of them can be adjusted as well.
I'll look! I literally bought them both and headed out for a few days without even looking it up. LOL! I have NO CLUE what I'm doing half the time, but that's part of the fun. Thank you!
I second this. Adjusting the screws to rotate the base was the first thing I did when I got my lens. 100% this is your issue. They should have included the Torx screw with the lens IMO
Bought this thing on Black Friday. Can't wait for it to come in! It's my first foray into lenses with "character". My Zeiss 85mm has a bit of character, but this seemed like an extreme end of that spectrum. I think I'll be more likely to reach for it if it provides a completely fresh look. Maybe "fresh" is the wrong word since it's a recreation of an 80+ year old lens 🤣
Thank you for the positive comments about my images! Luckily the lens helped out too. :). And Oreo is SO FANTASTIC!!!! We just took him out on a leash for the first time, and he was amazing with it. Cheers!
Love the video, love the cat, & I'll probably buy that lens (to use on my recently acquired cheap Nikon Z5.) I currently have many older Nikkors for my DSLRs (too many to list here) and the F mount adapter, and also a Super Takumar 55mm f2.0 with M42 adapter (which is great.) I've been lent some vintage Helios and CZ Jena M42 mount lenses by a buddy. I'm loving this older stuff. I'll probably get a Nikon Zf when used prices get cheaper (but the Z5 is okay for now.) Auto focus is great for working fast with models who are moving, but manual focus is just fine a lot of the time.
I have the 100mm M42 TTArtisan "bubble bokeh" lens and love it, I guess I'll have to add this one to the list! Thanks for the video. Not sure if this will help but it looks like this lens is designed with an adjustable M42 Screw Mount for alignment. There's a T5 Torx screw which when loosened lets the lens rotate on the mount -- perhaps this became loose and the lens will stop rotating if it's tightened?
Love the images. Something I think I will have to look into for my Canon, so nice to have that older look right out of camera instead of having to always depend on Lr. Love the cat, reminds me so much of of my late cat Tribble, same tuxedo color as Oreo.
Ah!!! TRIBBLE! That's adorable man! Never had a tux cat before - I love my little guy. I bet tribble had a wonderful life, my man. And yeah, it's great to have the old look out of the camera! I was hesitant at first because most people who want my stuff want crystal-clear imagery... but I need to add more diversity to my portfolio, right? So why the hell not go crazy on some of my images! Thanks for your comment man!
@@JerredZ For your job I get the need for crystal clear images. But for fans that would want a print, or if you make another book, mixing it up is the way to go. Verity is the spice of life, and really, no reason even for your job something that is not super sharp is perfectly fine. People are WAY to hooked on the idea that everything needs to be sharp. Never an issue 20, 30, 40+ years ago when film was never super sharp all the time and early digital blew but people loved it. To much focus (pun intended) on the wrong thing with photos these days. And I really had to look into this lens, no idea what the M42 adapter was, rather have a native RF mount, but take what I can get.

I have adapted a lot of Takumar lenses to my GFX 50s over the years, but I don't know that any of them have got this swirly... enjoyed the content (make more... please?) 🙂 (but not at the cost of time with Oreo... just like your videos!)

@@JerredZ The price is a valid point. China will make everyone else redundent (including you and me) if people (we) only buy from aliexpress and temu. A cheap price has a caveat.
I can't see a Zeiss Biogon 75mm f/1.5.. closest I can find is the 75mm f/4.5 for large format. I think you're thinking of the Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 75mm. There's some vignetting, but it's mostly fixable and goes away closing down (mostly)! It does seem to completely cover the sensor.
