You guys are awesome. Guffman is legendary and doesn’t get mentioned nearly enough. Many thanks for this highly enjoyable stroll down mockumentary lane.
In a random act of kindness, a woman I worked with gave me a pale blue coffee mug with James Dean's photo on it. We weren't particularly close; we didn't exchange gifts. But she had seen I had an Elvis Presley figure on my desk, and assumed I liked Dean too. (I also think she was just looking to get rid of the mug, bc it was pretty ugly). Anyway, the next time I watched Waiting For Guffman, I noticed that very mug sits on a shelf behind Corky's head, when he's being interviewed in his novelty shop. I now think that ugly mug is pretty cool. 😄
I was in my high school theater productions, IN MINNESOTA, and we watched this many times at wrap and post performance parties. It not only brought us together as a productiin grouo AND helped sand down some of the more obnoxious actors' performances when they realized they were running a little too close to Willard or O'Hara's characters.
The UFO Abductee: ''They took me off into a separate room; I seen 'em takin' different people off; different ones of us off in separate rooms and put me on a big white table and uh the guy that took me in there - to examine me I guess - he probed me and then I was in there I bet more than three or four hours, in that room, being probed and at one time or another these different ones of 'em came in, four or five or six of 'em at different times, and all of 'em probed me, uh, not all at once, you know, individually. Later on, years later, now, even still, uh, it's a funny thing - it happened on a Sunday and every Sunday about the time I was taken on board that ship I - find I have no feelings in my buttocks.''
One of the many hilarious moments is that Corky St. Clair wears everytime a different kind of outfit in every single scene....and one of my favorite lines (Sheila talkin' 'bout Ron Albertson): ''He's teaching me to change my instincts....or at least ignore them.''
i think the whole 1 season episode reviews would be Bangers! If you guys are up for it, its a cheat being only having 2 season but i think its worth a talk overall as a whole--Carinvale
That was actually my fucking idea (yeah sure, nobody else thought about that before), to just cover 6 (or 7?) fucking hours on 6 seasons (or 7?) of ''The Sopranos''....
Stage right, house right is kicking in early in this episode as they try to figure out the spatial relation. Fun to think about. I go back to a Marc Amerika blog about flying from Colorado to Australia, thinking about work emails, wherein Amerika wondered if his body and mind were moving in different trajectories in an online context.
All I can say is, an absolutely ridiculous beanie with a propeller on top of it is never not funny. Once again you three gents managed to raise my appreciation for the film that’s being spotlighted. Corky! Corkaayyy!! It’s a good scream. It’s a good scream.
I would gladly check out this recommendation, _Waiting For Guffman,_ but why knock another excellent, yet different, film, _Remains of the Day?_ We can like both.
Mother of all mockumentaries? I guess you never saw "Take The Money and Run"....or "the Rutles", or "Spinal Tap" or "Zelig". All of which predate (and which were funnier than) "Guffman" (as much as I wanted to love it). It's ok, "E" for effort, but I'd take Spinal Tap or Best In Show from that crew any day over Guffman. I found Guffman disappointing when I went to see it in the movies.....and I've done lots of theater! They definitely nailed it! but I just always wish it was funnier whenever I see it. Good work by all, though, worth seeing.

Everybody dance 😂
I genuinely love their take on "Midnight at the Oasis."
"Kinda slow". Hahaha! Nice call back!

You guys should definitely do; "A Mighty Wind"!!!
Just finished The Curse, so that should be fun certainly. Kudos!
Stoked to hear you guys talk about The Curse. That last episode is mind blowing.
Would love to hear your thoughts on severance if you're taking requests, not that i need to. Your picks are always great!

Halfway through the fucking hour and I went over to Apple movies and rented it!

Never heard of it. Will check it out

"Remains of the Day" is indeed a great film. I didn't think they were knocking it, so much as they were referring to Quentin Tarantino knocking it.
@@tomflorio3639,
Thank you. That clarifies it.
Don't do television! Stick with movies.

Spinal Tap is probably king for me personally, but Guffman is VERY close second and it ain't close.
So outdated, this movie has become more cringe than what it satirizes, it does not hold up
