Renault Clio 5 RS Line Cup: Rev Limiter, Accelerations & 1.3 TCe Turbo Sound

- They may not be the fastest cars, neither the loudest nor the best sounding ones but these Clio Cup cars are incredibly entertaining to watch, literally punching each other on track during the proper racing weekends of the various national Cup championships.
I've never managed to record Renault's Cup race cars during test days because their sound was always covered by louder GT3 or TCRs, for example, but during last week's testing the track was quite empty so I wanted to try and record it, taking advantage of being also the new Cup car.
Based on the 5th generation of the Renault Clio (in particular the road-going R.S. Line version), it was unveiled in late 2019 and deliveries were set for the first quarter of 2020, but due to the pandemic situation they were postponed. An interesting aspect of the new Clio RS Cup is that the car in its basic set-up is intended for use in several competitions: from the track, both in the Renault single-make and in the other categories, to hillclimbing but also rally and rallycross. For this purpose, Renault has prepared a low-cost conversion kit which allows the same car to be transformed from track to rally or rallycross and vice versa in brief time.
The car is powered by a 1.3-liter TCe (Nissan HR13) turbocharged 4-cylinder engine which is able to produce 180 hp and 300 Nm of torque and linked to a Sadev ST82, 5-speed sequential gearbox.

Same here, agreed and think drivers of other cars are suprised at how quick it is for a non sport hatchback.

I wanted that engine as well, sadly they stopped selling it already 2 years ago in my country. I went and got the e-tech 145 full hybrid instead, it's really quick from the line, but slighly slower than the 1.3 turbo (also for sport/performance a shittier "gearbox").

a friend of mine is going to compete on the spanish clio rally cup (tarmac) with this car and i'm so excited! last year he won the spanish suzuki swift cup (also in tarmac) with the 1.4 turbo engine

There's a rally car (Rally 5 class) which looks exactly the same. I think the only difference is that the rally car has ALS.
This one seems to run mild ALS as well. I would also expect them to have different suspension and gearbox ratios.
I think that's actually the same car. Searching for some info about this Cup version I found that Renault offers this Clio race car in both Cup, Rally and RallyCross versions. The owner/team can swap from a version to another with the use of a low-budget conversion kit, if they want to. In fact the data specs for the Clio Rally 5 and this Cup are exactly the same
@@19Bozzy92 Yes, it must be that then. Im not sure the Rally 5s have various ALS settings as the Rally 4s. Other than that it must be exactly the same specs.

Confusing.... Is it a true RS model or is it the RS LINE?
Rs -line (previous they called it gt line ) so it’s no full Renault sport model, only bumpers and seats ( roadcars)
RS line judging by the single exhaust and the small capacity engine ..

New RS Clio is a 1.3T?
No, the new Clio RS has yet to be unveiled. This is based on the street-legal Clio with the RS Line exterior package, which has a 1.3 turbo engine as the best petrol-only option at the moment

@@anteperica3715 Oh I see. I thought the wheel was lifted and locked.
@@WooRi_official that it's exactly what happened, handbrake was not applied. These FWD track cars will lift the rear inside wheels on braking due to all the weight being on front. When the wheel is lifted and brake is applied, the wheel will lock up. Totally normal :)
