OSCars were made in the very early 80s. They were super innovative monosynths, designed by the esteemed synth designer Chris Hugget who also designed the Wasp. and later was integral to the designing of all of Novation's synth like the Bass Station and the Nova/Supernova series. The OSCar used an interesting design which used additive digital oscilators where you could design your own waveforms overtone by overtone, and then shape them with a double filter design with integral distortion circuitry . Due to the DX7 coming out the next year, they did not sell well , but are awesome, and were used extensively by people like Herbie Hancock and later by groups like Ozric Tentacles and Eat Static.
I always wanted to try programming one of these and love the industrial look of them. I heard that it couldn’t be copied due to ongoing enforcement of copyright on some of the chips/circuitry? If this has been resolved and it does get made I would probably not be able to resist it.
The pink Crave is the Edge. I am a big fan of Behringer, I have loads of Behringer machines. But the quality isn't always perfect. My RD-8 had to be sent back for repairs because the output sound would suddenly die randomly, my RD-9 had to go back for repairs because the ride would stop working (received replacement), my Toro had to be sent back because the pitch stopped working (received replacement), then the replacement Toro had to be sent back too because the pitch stopped working (received a replacement again). I'm lucky these issues came within the warrantee period, I'm just afraid something might die just after. But it doesn't stop me from buying more, I pre-ordered the Model-15, MS-1-Mk.II and the Proton (on Thomann since today).
The polivoks sounds nothing like a miniMoog. They might have been going for that originally, but it ended up way different. More like a Wasp if anything. Very gnarly and savage sounding, with an extremely erratic filter (which I love)
Hello gentlemen. Just in case you weren't aware, the picture you shown is not of a Polykobol but the standard Kobol. There were 3 variations of the Kobol: the original monosynth with keyboard (the one you shown), the Expanders (3 of them, Behringer released the Expander 1) and the absolute unicorn: the Polykobol (5 octave keyboard with memory etc).
I think Vladimir Kuzmin would be irked by having the Polivoks called just a minimoog clone. It's an entirely different, aggro, keep one eye open at night if you sleep in the same room with it type of synth with looping envelopes, a drone mode (switch that turns the VCOs on), and a filter that was not a copy of anything but a totally original freakishly outlandish design built around the soviet K140УД12 IC, which works more like an OTA, no capacitors, and there's nothing else out there like it. I made English schematics of the Polivoks and have a link posted somewhere in my shits and giggles blog on Tumblr, called MySynthFetish... good on Mehringer if they're actually working with him and not just ahem 'borrowing' the circuit design.

The "real" Poly-Source is the Baloran The RIver which is 8 moog sources with more, only part of it is through hole components and massive sound
Edge is the purple one ;-) Crave a Spice , pushes you over the Edge... :-)
Behringer! Take my money!
Polivoks has a crazy screaming filter! 😊
