    Thank you so much! I couldn’t figure out why there was a bare copper wire floating around. Now I know it’s to protect me!!!!

    I am from europe, are you talking in this video about AC or DC or maybe both ? If you are talking about DC , what is considerred "away from the panel" , positive or negative ( physical or technical flow of electrons)?

    • @TheVirtualElectrician
      @TheVirtualElectrician  ปีที่แล้ว

      i am talking AC here. For DC, everything is going away from panel

    Thanks for tips. Quick question please. My cieling fan outlet has Black , white and brown wire. BUT the Cieling exhaust fan I bought has Black; White and Green Wire. My struggle is do I connect Brown and Green wires. Whereas Black goes to black and White goes to white.

    I have green/yellow that's ground, black that's live, but I also have a blue wire and brown wire that I'm not sure about. I want to put a plug on power cord for my little welder

    • @TheVirtualElectrician
      @TheVirtualElectrician  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      can you send me the model number? sounds like a 240v welder? blue is usually associated with the neutral wire (white) and brown is usually another hot wire (black)

    Where can I buy those multi colored wire (individually) for making automotive harness

    • @TheVirtualElectrician
      @TheVirtualElectrician  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Depends on where you live. Most electrical supply chains will have them

    That red wire in the romex can also be a switched hot wire.

    My mother in laws lights switch (controls 2 different lights) has 2 red, 2 white and 2 blue, my father in law installed a new switch and connected it like this, blue wires as ground, red as hot and white neutral and broke off the little tab that connects both switches, but now the light won't turn off

    • @TheVirtualElectrician
      @TheVirtualElectrician  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      depends on the size of the circuit. that wire is rated for 15 amps

    • @TheVirtualElectrician
      @TheVirtualElectrician  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. You just have to identify the hot and neutral. Can you attach a pic?

    Please keep looking into the camera. I think it's just weird when they make you look like you're looking at someone else besides the audience. But then you have to know where to hook those live and hot and ground wires. I'm just a novice.

    Wires from the ceiling are orange, yellow, brown, and white????

  • @Mark-pz3lq
    @Mark-pz3lq 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Why doesn't the electrician just use black wire instead of white wire marked with black tape?

    • @TheVirtualElectrician
      @TheVirtualElectrician  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The electricians are phasing the wire if it’s a 240 volt circuit. They are using the black wire as phase A and the white wire as phase B. This is typical for powering a motor such as an acu.

      The blue wire is your neutral (white ) wire. The brown goes to your black (hot) wire
