Bald eagles Jackie and Shadow on a DATE mating, bonding again. 🦅🦅❤️ 5th April Shadow's longest shift. He is covered in snow and spends all day on the nest. Jackie comes for her night shift after the whole day off.
6th April Jackie and Shadow spend less and less time on the nest. They meet on a tree to mate, bond and discuss their future. Afterwards, Shadow decides to come back to the eggs. Jackie comes to her night shift but ...
at 1:35 am (7th April 2024) Jackie decides to stop incubating the eggies. She spends the rest of the night on a branch near the nest. She takes a break in the morning and Shadow comes to incubate the eggs for a while. Then, he takes a break and comes back again to watch the sunrise with the eggies. We shall see if it is the end of incubating the eggs for Jackie or maybe she will come back for the night shift.
A Sub-Adult Eagle visits them twice. Maybe it is Spirit again. We shall never know.
We should be grateful to FOBBV for letting us admire such an unsual phenomenon in the eagles' world from such a close distance.🦅🦅🥰
Enjoy! ❤️

It looked like Jackie has come to terms with regards to the eggs. But...I think these two will be together for a very long time. They are soulmates for sure!❤❤❤
Eagles mate for life
They've lost clutches before and will doubtless do so again. But even while incubating the eggs they managed to make time for each other. That bodes well for the future.
@deezzznutz652 Not necessarily. I read today that a biologist reported on this very situation that if a pair do not produce babies within 2-4 years they might look for different partners. I was heartbroken when I read that.😢
@jacquip644 I could not agree more! ❤️❤️🦅🦅
They had offspring in 2019 and 2022 so let's hope next year will be successful for them.
Instead of telly…they are my favorite to watch daily❣️ I love their Love and caring for each other❣️ better than watching the telly anyway❣️ 🦅🌻
@daniellemmeldru1721 Thanks a lot for such a nice comment! ❤️❤️🦅🦅😍
What an enduring challenge this has been. The weather has been intermittently terrible, yet Eagle love and instinct has endured. A beautiful life lesson.
@marlaclarambeau327 I couldn't agree more! ❤️❤️🦅🦅
Thanks a lot for such a great comment! 🥰
I like "bonded". They truly care about each other😘
❤️❤️🦅🦅
Thank you for this fabulous look into their life. This is my first season watching and although it has come to a sad conclusion eggwise the devotion of J&S to each other and their eggs is beautiful and I am definitely hooked!
@ZetaWarmington Thank you for such a beautiful comment. ❤️❤️🦅🦅
HOPE and Perseverance, We should learn a lesson from them. Miracles can still happen 🙏🙏🙏
Indeed! We can learn so much from them! ❤️❤️
Yes let’s learn a lesson from these. Beautiful couple they are a blessed pair I’m praying they will succeed next year. I love watching them several hours a day. God bless them. How can you imagine sitting under the snow all those hours sounds like parents God bless 😢😢😢😊
@sherrysaunders3758 Thanks a lot for your comment! ❤️❤️🦅🦅
The heart of bald eagle habitat is SW Alaska. They love snow and colder weather. When it starts to warm up, they get too hot and are panting trying to cool off.
Such a loving couple who have endured winter weather. They will be back for future offspring's. My heart is heavy for them. We never know what mother nature has in store for us. Love always❤❤❤
@kimingram7649 Thank you for your beautiful comment!❤️❤️😍
So beautiful to watch and so sad hoping next year will be successful
Yes. Let's hope the next year will be much better for them.
Oh my god 😭😭😭 I need holding my chest 🦅🙏 why keep snowing that area so bad weathers 😤🤣💔💔
I woke up this morning and saw her just sitting there, and was I sad, cause I knew then it was time for her. I thought it a couple of days ago, when she left the nest for over an hour it was like she touched one of the eggs before she left, and that was when it like dawned on her. Sad, but I know it's nature, and they are a strong pair. And hope the best for them ❤
You are right. She did that. It is sad. Let's hope they will have a successful year 2025.
Thanks a lot for your great comment! ❤️❤️🦅🦅🥰
This is my first time on egg watch. When they stop incubating the eggs, do they change locations for a new nest? If so, will we be able to observe them there? They are such a beautiful pair. Thanks to all who make it so we can be a part of their environment.💜🤟🥰
Siguen en su Nido. Es su Casa y ahí los volveremos a ver en la siguente temporada.
@sandraclaus5514 This is their permanent nest. They will come back to this nest in October to prepare it for the next season.
I 😘 ve these birds....more than people.
❤️❤️
😢it is amazing that they don't give up. I think they would be better off to have a nest in a warmer climate with fewer storms, cold, and snow for more successful breading. 🤔
Yes I agree, the tree is 145 feet high , the highest nest of bald eagles anywhere
Bald eagles nest quite successfully in Alaska. I don't think snow is the problem.
@@ZetaWarmington In Alaska they don't lay until early April. Maybe the problem is that this is southern California and southern eagles lay much earlier with usual success for that climate. They are just too high and too soon.
However long these two endure everything, I too, will endure being here daily, everytime I’m notified to watch! It’s been a powerful , compelling, beautiful Love Story! However this story closes out “ this” chapter, I will be here, still turning the pages, for their new chapter, of what’s ahead! I’ve watched many “ love stories “, on T.V. But J.& S., let me say, “ You two take the prize”! Your love story is real, & “ out shines” them all! 🥰👍💖🙏. I love you both, & everything about you two amazing Bald Eagles !! What an inspiration you both are, & have brought a stronger appreciation for the many countless, blessings God has given me! You both are a part of the blessings from our Great God, creator of this universe! You both have MANY fans, on here, who will be watching & Cheering with Praise , through your journey, when your next eggs do hatch! 😃👏👏👏👏👏🙌🙏. Be safe out there you brave , strong Eagles! ❤
@DebbyMorris14 Thanks a lot for your beautiful comment! ❤️❤️🦅🦅🥰
Bless their hearts.
❤️❤️🦅🦅
I had to laugh at poor Shadow @ 19:42 when Jackie came in with her stick... bless his heart.. she scared the 'OW!' right out of our precious Shad-man.. he was like Jackie!! if you do that to me 1 more time, in the middle of the night!! Either come in respectfully! or please wait til sun-up! HA! I mean his 'fight or flight! instinct' was on hi! He leaned clear back on 1 wing... i wonder what his blood pressure was right then!! Thank you for sharing and all your work putting these recaps together!!!
@terri5282 Thanks a lot for your great comment! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Poor Shadow sitting in the nest surrounded by all that snow . Jackie has also done her share of incubating the èggs but it just wasn’t meant to be. ❤😊
Shadow. Love sticks
I think also he Isa carpet 🙈🤣🤣🤣
LORD that looks and sounds SO cold! I’m sitting here shivering 🥶
Mon cœur et âme sont avec eux deux❤❤💋💋😊
❤️❤️🦅🦅🥰
Love shadows little shuffle dance. Poor baby having to stay in snow. If I could I would get him lots of sticks.
❤️❤️😍
It's so so sad to see these 2 Amazing Birds giving up.❤❤
Jackie often scares the living daylights out of Shadow when she flies in. He lets her know. On the other hand, if my hubby flew in with a stick on my back, I’d let him know. Not cool Jackie though. She just gets up, looks around for a while and then flies off. Cool as a cucumber, Jackie.
I can’t help watching these two great parents 😢and cry for nature being so harsh to them. They are so dedicated it’s sad. There is a man in the Netherlands who probably WOULD
climb that tree and grab an incubate them. He has brought eggs from being destroyed to life. Called A CHICK CALLED ALBERT. ❤
This was so sad! But isn't it possible to collect the eggs to find out what the reason was for this failure?
This is exactly what I have been hoping for. Someone get these eggs before the crows do and see if anything can be found as to why they didn’t hatch. A study of nature.
The cam owners, Friends of Big Bear Valley, wrote that nobody will collect and study the eggs.
@@BirdlifeOdysseyI only thought that perhaps if someone takes the eggs away, Jackie and Shadow would try a second breed. This happened with Southwest Florida eagles, when the chick died.
@@jochemb.1748 I know but it is not up to me. I cannot do anything. Thank you for your comment! ❤❤
I wish I could tell them apart! Too bad they don't wear jaunty sailor caps with their names embroidered on the caps, LOL. 😂😂😂😂
🤣❤️❤️🦅🦅
If you watch them long enough, you can listen to their calls and tell which is Jackie and which is Shadow. Jackie is very sharp and loud.
@@pamelaseitz8962 Thanks for the tip. However, I have listened to both their calls and can't tell them apart either! 🤨
@@barbarakrall4331 Shadow is smaller.. in the snow nest bowl you can really tell.. When the nest bowl is full, it's Jackie.. when there is space around between him and the snow, it's Shadow. When he's standing on the edge of the nest facing us, his shoulders are more 'petite'? his chest a little smaller. Jackie is a big girl! and her feathers have a little more of the '80s 'ruffled'? look a lot of the time :o) I can't always tell either, but i'm doing better. I've listened to them long enough that i can kind of tell Shadow's little 'whimper'?? LOL when he's arguing, or trying to argue, with Jackie about nest duty :o) I don't know if any of that will help or not... it is really hard to tell them apart for sure, even when they are standing just right for me sometimes.
Will that snow ever stop? 🤔
All bald eagle couples on livestream are bonded, but Jackie and Shadow are one of the most loving, especially because they live in such weather conditions that they have to support and look after each other 24/7... Fingers crossed, their eggs will hatch next year
@respectnature Thank you very much for your beautiful comment! ❤️❤️🥰
I would like to know how many viable clutches has jackie and shadow had since the watch cam has been filming. Sometimes i wonder if that could affect the outcome. J&S happiness is beyond ours. ❤❤❤
April 8th 12:30 AM Est time. Someone is still taking a shift. Shadow I guess? Heart Breaking 💔😢
So sad. They tried so hard with those poor eggs. 😢
I know. I’m kind of miffed at the hapless eggs.
Yes, it is very sad. Let's hope next year will be better for them.
Last yr shadow was so hesitant to give up, 😢
He loves his family wants to stay with eggs longer🙏🙏
Yes. You are right! ❤️❤️🦅🦅
Ok - I admit it - sometimes Shadow is my favorite! Don’t tell Jackie!! I love her too!!! But , other days Jackie is my favorite.. hmm 🤔- apparently I love them both! 🦅🦅❤️❤️❤️
❤️❤️🦅🦅😍
Hi - does anyone understand the role of daylight affecting hormones and the desire to incubate? I’m always curious love to learn !! Thank you god bless our Eagle friends and everyone! ❤️❤️🦅🦅
I watched last year as they kept mating after the eggs weren't viable and the eggs were taken by ravens. She never would relay eggs afain.
Yes, you are right. She did not and she is not likely to lay any more eggs this year.
Let's hope we get another egg which hatches ❤❤❤❤❤
Indeed! ❤️❤️
Yep, it's been coming & yes this word it's nature but seems pretty cruel! However the sooner these eggs 🥚 are stolen as I honestly don't know if eagles will toss them out the nest or have to rely on ravens 🤔 Just so they ain't confused & move on! Also, is there a chance they make a new nest for the next clutch? Anyway, peace out people! Bless the Dynamic Duo 1🦅🦅🍀
@Sean_1970 Thank you for your comment! It is nature and it is cruel at times. You are right. The eggs can become part of the nest or other birds such as ravens or woodpeckers can eat them. This nest is their only nest and they will return here in October to prepare it for the next season. ❤️❤️🦅🦅
@@BirdlifeOdyssey Thank you very much indeed for the reply as all a learning curve & I really don't want to use Google etc as nice to learn about those magnificent Eagles as natraul as possible from good people like yourself! Much appreciated 🍀💯🌟
I and a lot of other from us watchers are very sad. The thought they leave the nest and we dont see this beautiful loving couple not anymore 😢😢 I hope J&S will come back to this nest
I am super sad with only the thought ❤❤😢😢
When they take turns on the nest where does the other Eagle sleep?
On a tree nearby
The other eagle is close to the nest to be able to guard it.
❤❤❤
❤️❤️❤️❤️
Marie laure ligot colossum 😊
Is this nest their permanent home or will they make a new nest when Jackie lays again? After the eggs are gone will they still c9me to the nest or does it sit empty until the next time?
Hi, they will stay in the nest and bring up their eaglets in it, they’ve kept the nest despite the other failures
It is their permanent nest. They will come back here in October to prepare the nest for the new season. In the meantime, they will be in the area.
Is Jacky trying to high the eggs with the stick ?
❤️❤️
When do they start nesting again?
They will come back in October to prepare the nest for the next season. They will lay eggs in January.
DID JACKIE STOP INCUBATING & REALIZING THEY R NON-VIABLE? I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE 2 B ON HERE.
I think today will be that day.
@@virginiamoss7045 💔😢💔😢
Jackie stopped incubating at night. It happened last night. During the day they are still coming to the nest to incubate but they leave the eggs alone for long periods of time. We shall see what the following night will look like.
😢💗 🦅💗🦅💗
They could be Spirit and her boyfriend? ❤❤
❤❤
❤️❤️
When will they realize that the eggs are not viable?
Jackie does not incubate the eggs. Shadow does not want to give up.
Since they can't hatch can someone remove them so it's so sad to see them trying so hard
Yes, it is sad but this is nature. The owners of this cam, Friends of Big Bear Valley, wrote that nobody would remove the eggs.
Thanks a ot for your comment! ❤️
Is it possible that Jackie would lay more eggs? 🤔
Jackie is fertile until March so it is probably too late for her to do it now.
@@BirdlifeOdyssey If Jackie isn't fertile, why does Shadow keep mating with her?
@@paulettebruno851 They mate to stregthen their bond.
Thanks a lot for your comment! ❤❤❤❤
To the OP, not a big deal. No need for scary alarming video title. It’s nature and this is what they do when faced with infertility.
It is not scary. She stopped incubating at night and that's it. There is nothing more added to it. It is a fact and it is nature like you said. We were all aware of the fact that this day would come. They still come to the nest during the day. Maybe Jackie or Shadow will come back at night. We shall see.
