Great video and pretty much nailed it. Vial sampled a bunch of PDM a few months back had the girlfriend smell and rate too. When she smelled Layton It was instantaneous. LOVED IT. When I put on Sedley her eyes lit up again, she loved that one for warm weather seasons. . She actually picked out that there was Rosemary in it, but it was done so good that it's not overpowering. As a deep fresh blue scent she said that one's the best. Currently I have a vial of Althair. Waiting for it to be more fall like on Long Island here to put it on and see what she thinks without her knowing who makes it. There was a few when I tried PDM vials as mentioned that she thought was more like potpourri on the skin. She didn't like those. So she's not used to Gourmand scents. I agree with you. I have Layton and Carlisle and love them both. I had samples and tried all of them on my skin before committing. Layton is def more a signature everyday mass appealing fragrance. Carlisle is really strong and powerful so I only wear it out to dinners and outside in cooler weather but it’s an addictive scent and certainly worth the money. Excellent top. Personally, I prefer Layton Exclusif over Layton, and even Herod appeals to me a bit more. Still, I recognize that Layton remains one of the best fragrances from Parfums de Marly. I agree with you that it can come across as more of a designer scent than a niche one. The animalic touch in Layton Exclusif is what draws me in and makes it stand out compared to Layton. It’s true that not everyone enjoys animalic notes; for example, among my favorite Guerlain fragrances, Oud Khôl is outstanding. It has a very well-crafted animalic oud, though I understand it may not appeal to everyone.
Huge fan of most of these. Herod and Oajan weren't mentioned and they would be in my top 3. Carlisle is less special to me. There is an intersection of Carlisle w Initio Blessed Baraka and Mancera Red Tobacco. They all share something in common w Argos Triumph of Baccus.
