Carlisle has always been my favorite PdM. It is similar (but better) than Red Tobacco, but it actually came before Red Tobacco, so... I get Layton's universal mass appeal, but it's not quite dynamic enough for me to love it like almost everyone else does.
Carlisle. Herod. Sedley. Thats pdm for me, everything else is meh.

Greenley got judged quite harshly here. I think that making a summer scent as amazing as Greenley should move it towards the top. It would 100% be in my top 5
I agree, I recently bought Greenley and my gf and I are very happy with the scent. Not the top 5 of PDM, but still a nice scent

I bought greenley, it's a beautiful fresh unusual scent I love it.
Greenly is my favorite from the house. It's one of my daily drivers. To me it's better then sedley and percival. Which routinely get rated higher then it.
Honestly, for me it belongs there, it smells like fresh-cut grass, nothing special, really just a basic scent formula which you can find in many cheaper scents.

Love the house of PDM. Haltane is my signature scent - opening is similar to OFG but the dry-down of Haltane is where it shines. Carlisle is a masterpiece and one I wear in fall and winter. Sedley is my spring/summer signature scent.

I get a ton of compliments with Althair layered with Polo red parfum. Oajan is by far my favorite from the brand and Habdan a close second.
Haltane is grossly underrated
I love PDM, I have 6 currently and will probably own more! Hard to disagree with your number 1 choice, I do really like Percival though! My top 3 would be Percival, Althair and Layton probably.

Oajan is awesome. Great stuff. And I love Layton exclusif. That is my next full bottle from PDM I will get. It smells so expensive and high end!

I absolutely love Kalan. It's probably my #4 behind Layton Exclusif, Carlisle, and Herod
I am always intrigued by anyone who managed to appreciate Kalan. I tried it with a group of friends and we were taken aback by the scent. But to each his/her own, and whats important is the wearer's appreciation.

Kalan is in my top 5 PdM fragrances as well. Its so strange how people are turned off by this one, some comparing it to TF Noir Anthracite 🤯, which is mind blowing to me...Kalan has a deep sweet cotton candy vibe, to me its similar to CdN Untold which is a clone of BR540...
Also, love Kalan was sampling it when it first came out and a girlfriend at the time said "You smell like Christmas"
I agree with your order for the most part. The one missing that is in my top 5 is Habdan.

Can't disagree too much. My top 3 are #1. Carlyle (at first I wasn't a fan, time went by...about a yr n half and thought I'd give it a whirl again. Cold weather is best for this so it was just recently. It has grown on me. #2. Sedley....love at first sniff. Love the mint in it..great for summer and even fall. #3. Layton..(again, like Carlyle it's been sitting on my shelf...just recently picked it up again and it's crazy medicinal at first for me but once it settles down it's a beautiful scent. Carlyle and Layton your gonna smell for days after.

EDIT: Okay... I got Akaster in from the UK. Unfortunately it is very hard to get in The Netherlands. But it is AMAZING!! Opening is indeed a bit harsh, but after a few minutes.. YOU'RE THE MAN! 😍

i went to the PDM storefront in NYC and spent about 3 hours with the marketing director for the company, trying lots and lots of scents. maybe the marketing director was biased and trying to oversell me on Galloway and Pegasus but i came away feeling like those two in particular worked on my skin the best.
that was many years ago now though, so i think i'm gonna full deep dive into getting my PDM (and all other fragrances) collection built back up, gonna start with Layton blind and go from there
i appreciate the comparison of, say, Lalique White to Galloway. while i appreciate the high quality of PDM in general, a 90% discount for a very similar scent is a no-brainer 😅

Kalan is a win. Plenty of “what are you wearing” from that fragrance, I’ve never understood the hate it gets.

I agree on Goldophin being low on the list, I also have TF ombre and Tuscan leather so it is rarely touched. Herod is still my favorite with Layton exclusive and Layton filling out the top three.
My go to for summer is Sedley. I layer my Layton with either Carlisle, or Layton Exclusif. Three sprays for Carlisle or Layton Exclusif, and six sprays of Layton on top of whichever I choose first. The Layton/Carlisle combination is more beast mode. The Layton/Layton Exclusif combo is beast upfront, but smoother on the dry down. When applied correctly both combinations of layering are unique aromas to walk with.
I completely agree with your ranking of this house. I have most of these I have 8 of them. But have sampled the rest.
My top 3 are Herod, Carlisle, and Oajan. Own only Herod, have Marly's samples of the others including Layton. Layton is not one that I gravitate towards too much. Same thing for clones and inspired-by's like Detour Noir, Boss Bottled Intense, Hillfiger Impact Intense. I have the first two of those and honestly, never feel inclined to smell or wear them.
Pegasus Exclusif is a #1 in my book!

Greenley is my most complimented frag out of great collection of around 90. It is a beastmode scent on my skin.

Layton and Pegasus are the most wearable for me. The rest that I’ve smelled seem to only work for certain occasions. If it’s not versatile I’m just not all that interested. The Exclusif flankers are very nice too and different enough to get as well as the originals.

Carlisle, Herod, Habdan, Nisean and Layton are my top 5. Own quite a few others but those to me, are the most defining.

I'd personally switch Percival and Sedley and maybe Layton Exclusif with Oajan (possibly even put Layton Exclusif at number 2 - yeah, I love the Layton DNA), but otherwise solid list
pretty solid, I prefer layton exclusive over Layton.. I feel it smells more expensive, opulent, versatile, and personal daily scent worthy .I also really enjoy Haltane and get alot of compliments and comments asking for info on that one too
I get Dior Elixir vibe from Haltane, i prefer that over Haltane a little more.
I do own Layton and Herod, finding myself liking Herod more. My #3 would be Sedley. Had a sample but for now Maahir Legacy is close enough. Will probably get Sedley when my bottle is done.
My top 3 are (3) Herod, (2) Greenley, (1) Carlisle. Then Laton and Oajon for 4 and 5. I have most of those as well except the new one and Sedly.
Loving PDM's... The only full bottle I have of PDM is Carlisle, And that's a great fragrance I love it and my sotd is Roberto cavalli Uomo Golden Anniversary the limited edition one that's probably the hardest one to find smells great love it (Edit: I noticed you didn't put Habdan into this list, that is one of my favorite PDMs along with Carlisle and Layton)
My favourite are Layton,Herod,Sedley,Layton Exclusif and Pegasus Exclusif. Have Kalan and been trying to sell it for a while, just grew out of it... Didn't try Althair and Perseus,would like to try these 2 very much.

I will say it seems like the least PDM fragrance that they have. And probably the most niche selling. It is a bit odd and earthy, but it personally one of my favourites and I think it’ll become a frequent wear for me.

Layton is my favorite by far, and it is funny you said it possibly could be compared to a niche Boss Bottled. Because one of my favorite older scents is Boss #6.
Layton is the only one that really blew me away at first smell. LOVE Layton, haven’t been huge on the other ones.

I am actually a big fan of Greenley. I use it as my go to gym scent.. its unique and different, but not overpowering not too loud and doesn't choke me or others out... as for other occasions I like Layton Exclusive, Herod is one I go to occasionally. I have used Sedley in summer... I want to try Carlyle and the new fall Althair
I love Kalan, it’s very classy and elegant , my favorites are: Herod, Layton Exclusif, Carlisle, and Oajan. Percival I don’t see why is so popular, I have it and received lots of compliments when wear it, but it’s not my kind !
It took Layton Exclusive a while to grow on me but I love it now

I didn’t really like the regular Layton all that much but Exclusif is amazing.
Exclusif turns to charred bbq burnt wood scent after an hour on skin. I tried to love it over and over..topsoil with charred wood finish..my wife thought I sat by a bonfire all day after I wore Exlusif..to each his own I guess..I cant stand it..Opening is out of this world..but then it turns to burnt rubber with topsoil
@@yaro1401 Yeah it is very smoky! I know it is an either you love it or you hate it type of fragrance. To me, the opening is what is super different from the original. After it dries down I feel like the original starts to come out more which is why I preferred this one. The original Layton to me was a bit basic, just vanilla. I went for this because it added a nice razzle dazzle but I agree it is definitely not something I would wear every day.
My favorite PdM is Oajan. Hands down.
Layton and Oud for Greatness were the two frags that got me started down the black hole of niche fragrances. I now own 250 fragrances. Many I don’t wear. Layton and LE are still my most worn fragrances.

Layton, Sedley/Greenley, Herod would make my top 3, followed by Kalan. Yeah, I kind of like that a lot in winter time, as it's different from your basic spicy cinnamon vanilla bomb xmas vibe scent. Quite unique.
Kalan is noticed by everyone when I wear it. I keep it top of my list. Don't know how this review got it wrong.

1- haltane
2- Herod
3- Althair
4- Layton
Depends on my mood Herod and althair may switch spots but haltane is always number 1
I own Galloway, Haltane and Percival. I really like Kalan, but my wife doesn't, so I've only ever had one travel spray of it, and my wife LOVES Layton, but I'm only meh on it so she buys me an 8ml travel spray from time to time as I only wear it when we have a date night.
I've sampled Harod, Oajan, Carlisle, Sedley and Greenley, but none of them were for me.
If I had to choose an overall favorite it would be neck and neck between Haltane and Percival, but I'd give the edge to Haltane.
Top 3: Kalan 3, Carlisle2 and Layton1. I have gotten many more compliments with Kalan than any other PDM I own.
it's because kalan smells better on the skin and on the dry down it's literally the best PDM. most people smell the opening and just shy away from it.

I agree with your top 5 with the exception of Oajan. I'd replace Oajan in your list with Haltane and/or Pegasus Exclusiv . . . my girlfriend loves when I wear Haltane.

Pretty solid list but i must disagree on Galloway. I actually love that fragrance although I wasn't blown away at first. That's changed. Glad I purchased it. I also recently purchased Darley which didn't make the list. That said, I also own Sedley, Layton, Herod, and Carlisle. PDM makes some great fragrances. Now I wonder which I'll purchase next... 🤔

Not a bad line up. Perseus is absent as it’s new but after sampling a ton of pdm’s it was my favourite for spring and summer. The drydown is superb. Would’ve possibly ranked Carlisle as no. 1 though. But I use it more for going out in nights.
I love the house of Parfums de marly! For me it would be really hard to rank these fragrances because i love alot of them. I had a sample of oajan and now need to pick up a bottle of it soon!
I have 9 of the top 15th. Right now it's Herod > Carlisle > Layton for me. Funny thing I have Kalan and Oajan coming in today. We'll see if anything changes.
Carlisle, Percival, Herod. I tried oajan the other day and loved it
Top 3 for me would be:
1. Layton
2. Carlisle (magic juice, would be on top but it is less versatile than Layton) / Herod
3. Darley / Percival
Why was Darley not mentioned? Highly underrated.
Regarding the comparison with Red Tobacco, which is awesome, I think Herod is much more comparable to Red Tobacco than Carlisle. But Carlisle and Herod are also very similar. I wonder if it is worth to have all 3 of them? (RT, Carlisle and Herod)

Layton is the best I have ever tried in terms of scent and quality
My top 3 PDM are Layton, Herod and Sedley (Percival and Carlisle round out my top 5). But I love Greenley too. Have not tried either Pegasus yet or Oajan, but I intend to shortly.

@@songsforpantstowearl I was wearing Percival yesterday in the office and still got compliments at 5pm, after initially spraying it on at 730 am that morning. I know a lot of people bash niche fragrances, but I don’t recall the last time I got compliments on a designer fragrance almost 10 hours after I sprayed.
In no particular order, my top 5 are Haltane, Oajan, Carlisle, and this will be controversial to some but I dig Greenley and Darley in the warm weather. Honorable mention…Layton, Herod, Percival, Pegasus. Another hot take, I dislike Sedley. I go nose blind to it so for the price, its a terrible buy for me because I can’t smell it after an hour.

Funny how everyone is a little different. Pegasus is probably my absolute fav “non-fresher” scent of all time. My mom saw me smelling myself once and said “that looks like it is your olfactory happy place”. 😂
Pegasus is what got me hooked on PdM. I now have 5 different frags from PdM. I can’t wait to own every bottle in house PdM.
I'd love to see the TF private blend version of this. Oajan and Herod are my favorites from PDM. Also very much agree on Kalan, pretty bad imo

Oajan and Galloway are two of my go to fragrances. I know Galloway is pretty far down on the list, but that is one of my most asked about fragrances.
I love Galloway. I just order Haltane
Habdan is about 6 for me. It knocked Michael Kors, Michael out of my autumn run!
