Good stuff! I do not have FFS. Won't ever have it. Just the basic my boat came with. I use it for water temp and depth and to find drop offs or humps. Then I use trees or other landmarks to line myself up when I fish deep! Haha! Love that you put this out there for us guys without anything fancy!!
Just been doing it for years. Love my scope it just makes things simpler. But all the people who think you can’t do the same things without it never fishing with me or my lakes.
I use the trees myself, but mostly, while bass fishing for squirrels. My GF 12 year old told me I was an expert at catching those tree pounders. I keep explaining to him that squirrels are easy to fish for but hard to catch.
I'm digging that underwater footage Hank. It really shows the action of the baits and lures you use, like that blade bait. Shout out to Mike for his efforts, and the two of you for incorporating into your videos. #100percentwatchsquad
Well Hank you have done it again. You have showed me another way to figure out these lakes down here in North Carolina, this move from WV to here has been a really tough transition for me and I have been using your videos to help me. Keep up the great work and doing what you do, my wife would rather me miss some of your videos to try and keep the pocketbook a little fuller but you know how it is. lol
Awesome info! Bladebait has grown on me. Working it from it hits the water and working it down to the bottom, hopping it over the bottom for a while and if no action I start to work it up into the water again. But I find winter fishing tricky as Im one of those who pretty much can put the rod down, go home and still some how fish that ned to fast. xD
The recurring theme is find the shad (baitfish) find the bass. Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks for all of us geeks out here. #100percentwatchsquad
Thanks for another great video sir. I always take something away with your videos and im thankful that you do these and your the best brother 🎣🔥 #100percentwatchsquad
I have a new super duper high res Garmin fishfinder with the really cool sidefinder on my boat. I can see very detailed images of trees and rocks to the sides of the boat. It's like a picture. Looks really cool. But I don't think I have caught a single fish because of it. That's because I prefer casting to looking at a fishfinder screen. One can't do both at the same time.
I usually know where the fish are and I catch a lot of fish. I live in Minnesota and fish for Muskies. In the process, I typically catch 20 to 30 Bass and Northern Pike a day. And usually one or two Muskies. The Bass are usually good sized with about a 5 lb average. I use the side finder to show structure and that is about it. The Garmin units are awesome, no doubt. But driving around looking at a fish finder all day rarely produces fish. One has to keep the lure in the water to do that.
@BassGeek I am in my 60s and have many, many years of fishing. I can usually find the fish by observing the weather patterns. I imagine there are a lot of people who have no clue how weather patterns affect fish movement. They need every bit of help they can get. I use the fish finder to look for structure, weeds, and sometimes baitfish. But I use it mostly for boat control. Driving around looking for a Muskie is usually futile. The only time I have ever located Muskies using a fish finder is when they are in open water near schools of baitfish. To me, fish finders are just one tool I use when fishing. Weather observations, fish movement, understanding structure and how fish relate to it, lure selection, and boat control all add up to a successful outing.
Most useful channel for the average Joe angler imo. Ok keep it up buddy.
Thank you that means a lot

Hahaha yeah he Hass tribal it in now
Fantastic video. The drama around electronics is ridiculous nowadays when most guys have been doing the same thing for 10 years with no drama.
Yup that is hate truth
#100percentwatchsquad Great tips on using electronics. That's one part of my fishing game that I really want to improve upon. Keep 'em coming, Hank!
Thank you and the good thing is you don't need anything fancy to do this stuff.

I would have to disagree at least in my neck of the woods. Driving around looking at a fish finder seems to be how you catch fish.
