Hi there! Thanks for the info. I bought 2 lvery large potted mums, and they split down the middle at the time I watered them. I watched it happen so the theory that a cat sat down in them doesn't hold true in my instance. How can I get the split out? They came with a mesh in them and when I pull ut upward from the center it works to bring them back together. My husband is considering putting a stake in the center and attaching the mesh to it. Not aure if that will work? They are blooming beautifully but the split is an eyesore. Help please😊 ps. I live in the sandhills of NC and they get full sun. I also repotted them in a slightly larger pot hooing that would give the roots more expansion space and as a result the mums would come back together!

I have a Tabitha Scarlet Hardy Mum. I replanted the Mum in a clay pot when I purchased it in September. I live SE Pennsylvania. At the 1st frost I plan to put it in the back of my garage. Should I take off all the buds when I put it in the garage?

Hi Ann! Sorry for the late reply, We hope your mum survived it's winter in the garage! But to answer your question, once the first frost hits the plant, cut it back and then store for the winter.

My mums are starting to get brown in some places. There are lots of buds under neath that haven’t open. Should I cut the brown buds off?

Hi Catherine! Sorry for the late reply, you can definitely deadhead you mum to encourage more blooms until the first frost sends your mums into dormancy.

can you plant seeds in July?

Hi there! You can certainly sew your mum seeds in the summer, however, they probably won't bloom this fall. But, they are a perennial and next year they'll get bigger and definitely bloom.
